Rescue Me was a lifesaver for me. My dog Bubba has found a new forever home with help from your website. I never thought I would have found myself in the position to have to give up my dog, I was devasted. The one thing I did know was I wanted to make sure I found him the best possible home and give him the things I no longer could. Your website allowed me that opportunity. I loved that people searching for dogs could search by breed, as my dog is very large and most people thought he was intimidating when in reality he just wants to be a big lap dog. The family that adopted him was the perfect fit. They had Rottweilers in the past and knew what to expect. We corresponded via email several times and then met in person at a local park so I could see how Bubba interacted with them. By the end of the meeting, Bubba was giving David kisses on the cheek and that's when I knew it was going to be okay. Because this family knew my story, they understood how difficult this has been for me and have emailed me frequently since his adoption to let me know he is doing well and making himself at home. Thank you Jeff for creating such a wonderful website. In the future when I am ready, I will be sure to use your website to make my new home a forever home for a new dog in need. Sincerely, Amy

I wanted to thank Rescue Me for helping me find a home far Marcel. This was the sweetest dog and I was very particular about what kind of home I wanted to find for him. I found a wonderful family who took Marcel home and was kind enough to let me know how the transition was going. Thanks for having a website like this!

Through sharing Bella's story, I was able to find a family who immediately fell in love with Bella and adopted her. She now has two human parents, a human sister, and two canine siblings with a fenced-in yard to run. She needed this so badly! I was getting the run around from all the local rescues, most of them telling me to take her to shelters, which are all overcrowded and full to the max. So glad someone referred me to this site. Now Bella has a wonderful home. Thank you. I am referring Rescue Me like crazy!

Gunnarr is the most playful, outgoing, sweet boy. I love the shepherd breed so I was looking at a website that locally sold German Shepherds. From their website, I actually came across Resume Me and I fell in love as soon as I saw his picture. I'm all for rescue and adoptions so I went from there. The woman I spoke with that helped me through the whole process was amazing! They were all so helpful. I drove three hours one way to pick this handsome guy up. When he came running up to me, I knew I made the right decision! I promise to give Gunnarr the best life possible, and nothing less than what he deserves. I promise to fill his life with more love than he'll know what to do with, and to make sure he has nothing less than the best. Thank you all so much for this opportunity!

Stripe has been adopted by a wonderful couple whom will be able to give him the time and attention he needs. So far he loves his new home and doesn't seem to be having too much anxiety. We are incredibly grateful that our little guy found people to love him and take care of him. We are so sad not to have him as part of our family anymore, but very happy to know he is in good hands. Thanks, Rescue Me.

This pup found his home tonight with an amazing family complete with a little girl. They did find him on Rescue Me and we couldn't be happier. The rescue I work with hasn't utilized this site much yet, but I have had nothing but positive things to say about how far it goes with getting our guys exposure. Thanks for all you do.

Max was on the EU list in a small shelter. It is a high kill shelter regulated by the county and rules that govern space and available kennels for the 927 square mile county (there are only 33 kennels at this shelter with the empty kennel law for intake). As a volunteer and trying to help all the dogs get more exposure, Rescue Me was a new avenue to help get the CODE RED dogs out there to others in search of a forever furbaby. And, then came a wonderful woman from a LONG way away that called about Max! With a great team effort, Max has been rescued. He is currently being vetted and will be able to go to his new home when the quarantine time is up in a few days. The new owner calls and checks on him at his boarding facility, sends care packages and we cannot wait for them to be united as a new family. Thank you for the successes you have brought to our dogs. This is the third one that has been saved off death row now through our posts on Rescue Me. I am forever grateful.

My Pitbull found a new home. Hurray! I'm so relieved because I could not keep him I felt very bad and this is why it was so very important to me to find a home where people are pet friendly. She got adopted by a family with two children. The most excited person about the adoption was the head of the household, but the rest of the family joined in celebrating the new family member! Thank you very much for a superb job, Rescue Me! Your efforts made it possible. You walked with me through this journey. Honestly, I feel different feelings. I'm elated, and I'm sad having to part with this special animal. She is smart and lovable in every way. Thank you, Rescue Me. You get a ten out of ten from me.

Sweet Penny Lane finally found her forever home, thanks to the interest generated from Rescue Me! She has gained a new sister and two wonderful parents who adore her. Fostering Penny Lane for eight months was a joy as she was a wonderful, loving pup. We tried several other adoption routes and she just didn't get interest at adoption showings. I posted her on Rescue Me and had over a dozen calls within 48 hours. We knew we found the right fit with the Snyder family. They were willing and able to answer all our questions and sign an adoption contract. We couldn't have found Penny Lane's happily ever after without the help of Rescue Me!

My main focus on finding a home for Mia and Willow was a loving, forever, safe home. My girls were young and I wanted them to stay together and know that the adopted family would be the right one for them. I had several phone calls from a wonderful couple that discovered Mia and Willow on Rescue Me. They kept calling and emailing me until I could return the call. I felt in my heart that this was to be a possible forever home. They offered to drive back to meet the girls and they wanted to see if Mia and Willow would accept THEM. I was torn between letting my babies go to a home that could give them the love and care I could not continue doing. When I met these wonderful people they listened to my concerns and they just gave me a sense that they were the ones. Since then, they have sent me a picture of Mia and Willow's new home with the girls. I hope they will continue to stay in touch. This site is a legit site. I found a home within a week and I owe this site so very much with making a tough decision. If you want a dog, consider a rescue dog, They all need a forever, loving home. -Sheila

We adopted Missy just this past Saturday. My six year old had wanted a beagle for several months. One day one showed up at our house and she followed him around everywhere he went. We put her in our fenced in back yard to keep her safe until we found her owners. However, she got out and our son was devastated. Since then, all he talked about was getting a beagle. We found Missy on Rescue Me and immediately fell in love with her sweet face. Dee at the Hound Pound made our adoption experience amazing! She put up with my endless questions and even offered to meet us half way so that we wouldn't have to drive so far. Missy is a great dog! She follows my son around everywhere he goes. She is his new best friend. She makes us laugh on a daily basis and has brought so much joy to our entire family. I will never buy a puppy again from a breeder. Rescue dogs are so wonderful and have so much love to give. I couldn't image our lives now without Missy!

Some folks just have to have THAT dog, regardless of where it might be located. It reminds them of a lost pet. The picture just speaks to their heart. For whatever reason, Jimmy has moved across country. Our humane society volunteer transported Jimmy to meet with the brother of the sweet lady that just had to have THAT smiling pup. It was a three hour drive in the middle of the night. Literally the middle of the night--2:00 a.m. Jimmy quickly made friends with the trucker's Jack Russell Terrier and they were off. Jimmy was in bed with his new mom the next night and everyone is very happy. Doxie mixes have that special glow that makes them special. Jimmy was one of the lucky ones. His brother Joe is still waiting for that miracle to come his way. Thank you, Rescue Me.

Wonderful experience indeed! We had heard through the Facebook grapevine that this beautiful GSD was set to be euthanized very soon. That just wasn't an option. Especially after we met. Our family lives in the wide open country. We have the heart, space, and experience working with and training GSD's. This boy is going to fit in here just fine. Thank you Rescue Me!

My experience with Rescue Me has been very nice. Everyone that I talked to regarding my lab mix puppy, Halo, have been very kind and have answered my abundance of questions very kindly and as quickly as they could. We are in the final stages of adopting her, but overall we have been told that she is all ours and after the home visit she will be brought home to meet her big sister and fellow rescue dog, Sky! We can tell she is EXTREMELY excited to meet her baby sister because she licks our phone screens every time we show her Halo's pictures. We know for a fact that our home is puppy safe considering our other dog is only a year old. We know that she will be happy with us and will thrive in our home and with our family.

My wonderful dog Thor was adopted by a great family through Rescue Me. They purchase his transport and paid for up to date vaccinations. The only request I have is that he is somewhere he can be exercised. Due to health and family changes, I wasn't able to keep providing a home he was used to. He was becoming stressed, which cause me 'his alpha' to become stressed as well. Thank you for all the responses.

Due to my daughters allergies, we had to find another loving home for our Min Pin Chi mix. We looked into a rescue, but that didn't sit right with me. He was our baby and I worried about all things that could go wrong or scare him. He was used to being the only dog and having attention|. If we gave him to a rescue, he would be one of many he would be scared and possibly lonely. Then he would be there until someone came along to adopt him and he would again be in a new place with new people. I thought it was just too much for a puppy to go through. So I researched and found Rescue Me. We were devastated to have to do this and were so worried about our puppies well being. We had fallen madly in love with our puppy and hated the thought that we would have to part with him. I posted here on Saturday night around 10pm, the next morning I had several emails from interested families. All sounded great and all answered every and any question I had. After a couple emails and a long phone conversation, I found our Dinger a FOREVER HOME!! Sad but happy to say he was placed in his forever home on Sunday. The family welcomed our family in with open arms, we took pictures and shared stories. They told us that we were welcomed back anytime and that we are his family too and always will be. It was a true prayer answered- so, so happy to find this website!

My husband and I got Major at eight weeks old several years ago. We quickly found out he had already contracted parvo. We spent months caring for and praying he would survive, which he gratefully did. Over the years we have had the greatest gift of love and loyalty from this wonderful creature. Now, due to a number of health issues I have from a brain tumor and numerous surgeries, I can not play with Major and do the things with him he enjoys most. He wouldn't complain, but I love him so much I wanted better for him than I can give. Thanks to the Rescue Me website, Monty and his family found Major's ad. Major bonded with Monty and Pam immediately and I am 100% confident they will give Major the love he has become accustom to getting, as well as, all the activity I am unable to give him. I can't thank you enough for providing this medium that connected us to Major's new family. God Bless You!!!

We received at least ten emails and five phone calls from people interested in adopting Heidi through Rescue Me. We were so pleased with those who were interested. We wish we could have provided for everyone, but are so happy with those who came and took our Heidi, now their Heidi, home to a quiet neighborhood and fenced yard. We moved from a quiet neighborhood to an apartment complex and the cars, constant people and many, many dogs of all sizes was just too traumatizing for our Heidi. Oftentimes she trembled going outside. We grieved over how hard it was for her. Now she has a loving couple who no doubt will spoil her and take good care of her. When they came to meet Heidi, our dog jumped up on the sofa and laid next to the husband and looked at us like 'see my new friend' She felt loved instantly. It was easier to watch her be driven away than what I thought it would be. So happy for Heidi!

Bear met the family of his dreams. As a rescuer, I knew this was the family that he was meant to spend his life with! I was contacted via Rescue Me on Wednesday night. The family drove an hour and a half to meet him spending the same amount of time with Bear and walking away completely in love. We were able to complete all reference checks and finalize the adoption on Sunday. The amazing part of the story is that Bear was being tossed away by his previous family. He had been used as nothing more than a way to make money, breed over and over and over again. He sought human affection, laying in the sunshine and long walks with his foster dad. He will be loved everyday for the rest of his life by the little nine year old boy with autism who walked out of the house and quietly said 'my dog'. Not a question, nor an exclamation, but rather a statement as if he had been waiting for Bear as long as Bear has been waiting for him.

It broke our heart to have to find a new home for Sadie, but she was just too much of a ball of energy for our two 13 year old dogs, and we didn't want them to spend their final years in fear of their overly playful sister. While we are so sad to see her go, we are thrilled that she found a new home with Melanie and Josh, and their two year old Norwegian Elkhound 'Skye'. When Melanie and Josh move two months ago, that meant Skye had to be separated from her brother Roscoe, and she has been in a deep funk ever since. Now Skye has a new sister to fill her days with, and Sadie has a playmate more suited to her energy and enthusiasm. And Melanie and Josh appear to have more than enough love for the both of them. Thank you, Rescue Me.

Daisy and I adopted each other, however, I did not rescue her she rescued me. I, like so many others live alone and don't get out much, Daisy has made up her mind to change that from walks (runs more than walks) in the park to laying in my lap to watch a movie. I believe everyone needs a beagle, no dog better. They will make sure your loved and make sure you get out and exercise too. So, thank you Daisy for rescuing me and that Beagle Rescue Me for introducing us. It is great to have a resource like this. You are truly a blessing as much as Daisy is to me.

But my friends and family all have pets and we began to realize we were missing out. I had looked at a few websites and never found a pet I wanted to reply to. Until, Tilly.      I had been looking at dogs on many websites and had traveled to a local shelter but never went inside. I was still grieving the loss of my two wonderful labs. I saw on Rescue Me that several black lab puppies would be traveling to my local Pet Smart for an adoption event. So I decided to just go and see how I felt with these pups. Well, I never made it to the black lab puppies as my husband saw some chocolate fur through a kennel door. When he opened it, a five month old chocolate lab/Doberman little girl leapt into his arms and looked up at me as if to say, 'Where've you been? What took you so long?' After spending the next three hours with her while waiting for our turn (more volunteers needed and I am going to see what I can do to help) we knew she was ours. Koko is doing very well and has helped me to continue the grieving process of my other sweet dogs (I was stuck in an unhealthy stage). Already love this beautiful girl!

We had two Dachshunds and recently lost them to old age. Our little guy was 18 years old and died last May. Our sweet little girl was 17 years old and we had to put her to sleep last month. My husband and I were so devastated when we lost them. We loved our doggies so much and the silence of the house was making our sadness worse. We started looking at Dachshund rescue sites because we wanted to get an adult dog and there are so many good dogs needing homes. We'd been looking at a couple of websites trying to decide which dog would be best for us. One morning, I got on Rescue Me and saw Eddie and fell in love and knew he was the one for us. My husband agreed and we made arrangements with Eddie's foster Mom to go see him. It was love at first sight for all three of us! Eddie is so smart, housebroken, full of energy and so sweet! He's adjusting to us very well and we love him dearly. He is a ball fetcher of Olympic caliber! Eddie's foster Mom and I have stayed in touch so she knows how he's doing and their family is always welcome to come visit Eddie any time. Anyone who is thinking of getting a Dachshund, I urge you to consider adopting a rescue dog. They are all good dogs and deserve to have forever homes with people who will love them.

Miss Franny was a very special rescue dog. I am a Jack Russell Terrier Rescue but my close friend wanted a Chihuahua around nine years ago. Well, Miss Franny was left in a trailer to die. I saw her on dog transport whereby they were looking for help for a special needs terrier. With a lot of long distance telephone calls, I managed to locate someone named Francis Bailer who lived near the actual trailer. She in turn took the little dog in for around a week and then I went online to find a transporter. A lady answered my plea and said she would drive the 300 miles to get the little dog. She could take the little dog several states closer because her daughter was going to have a baby and that is where she was headed. I looked through my contacts and found someone that I worked with before on transport that lived four blocks from where this lady was going. We got the little girl transported to a nearby metropolis whereby I picked her up. My friend took one look at this special needs little girl and adopted her. She lived with her for eight years. She was a little over a year where I first received her. Then my friend became homeless and could not keep her, so I had a lifetime guarantee on her and took her back. I had her here at our rescue for several months and posted her on Rescue Me. A very nice couple came to see another dog and I happened to have Miss Franny outside with her. They took one look at Miss Franny and said that they wanted to adopt her. She is a special needs little soul that was born with three legs. Miss Franny is doing well in her new home and is very happy and content. Thank you Rescue Me for being there for our rescue. P.S. Miss Franny had a published article in Fetch Magazine about her journey a few years back. Thanks again. Penny & Crew - First Friends Animal Rescue Inc.

After just a few weeks, I received an email from a very nice couple who was looking for a larger dog, older and house trained. Zoe fits the description of what this couple was looking for. After corresponding a few times, a meeting was scheduled for Zoe to meet her new potential family. My husband and I met at what soon became her new home. The couple instantly connected with Zoe and she stayed with them. Two days later, I received an email letting me know that Zoe was doing very well in her new home and that the nice couple couldn't be happier. My husband and I were thrilled! We even received an invite to visit Zoe a week later. Rescue Me was the best way for our family to find Zoe a new home. We would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a new home for their pet.

Oslo found a new home in the countryside near a national forrest, with a lovely new forever mom who absolutely adores him. We had several inquiries over a few months, which allowed us to truly find the right fit for his needs. While we miss him dearly, he is a city dog no more and couldn't be happier. Thanks, Rescue Me for this great service!

Boomer was picked up as a stray off the streets with dirty, missing hair, and infested with fleas. We quickly took him to the vet for evaluation and a bath and cut. He was with our rescue for a good six months while his hair grew back and learned what it was like to be a part of a family again, loved and cared for. He was a very happy boy and his wonderful personality really shined whenever he met a new person. A dog with manners and a gentle soul we knew it was just a matter of time until the right forever home came knocking on his door. Saturday was that day for him. He is with his new family and new best doggy friend, who he took to right away. He will be missed, but so deserves his very own. Thank you, Rescue Me.

I have been watching Rescue Me for about three years, waiting for the right time and the right dog. When I saw Loki's picture, I emailed right then. And away we went!!! Kelly and I decided to meet at a halfway point which made it a two and a half hour drive for both of us. It was so very worth it. By the evening, Loki was bonding with me and I him. He is such a gentleman. I plan on certifying him as a therapy dog for me. He is smart and I know he will learn quickly. Thank You so much Rescue Me and Kelly!! Loki and I will be lifelong friends and companions. Thank you is not anywhere enough, I become teary eyed just thinking about this. Thank You again, Elisa and Loki!

I had a one-year-old Border Collie. I had a lot of changes in my life, during which she was an awesome emotional support, but in order to gain some stability for myself, I ended up in a very small space in the middle of town. She was a trooper about going for walks and learning to stay in a crate in between, but it was no life for a talented, hard-working, energetic farm dog. I put her on Rescue Me's border collie page, and immediately had about five inquiries. I'm happy to say that I found just the situation I was looking for with a couple who have a large piece of land, animals to herd and a great deal of experience and love for Border Collies. I feel like she will have more the kind of life she was born to live. Thanks so much!

Due to some aggression Domino had towards my baby nephew, I had to find a new home for my 10-year-old Chihuahua. I was so worried because I just didn't know who would want to adopt a senior dog with some aggression issues towards kids and other dogs, but I know how sweet and wonderful he can be as long as he isn't in those situations. I knew he wouldn't survive going to a shelter and I wanted to avoid putting him down so I turned to the Chihuahua Rescue Me site. It took a few days, but I got a call from a really nice young guy who was looking to rescue a senior Chihuahua. It turned out that Domino looked exactly like his Dad's Chihuahua who had a similar personality. He adopted Domino and has kept me updated with photos and videos. I can see that Domino is happy in his new home and has a second chance! I miss him terribly, but I don't have to worry about Domino scaring or hurting a child in this new situation. Thank you Rescue Me! -Stephanie

I was very lucky to have found Charlie Bucket on Rescue Me. My Clifford (part Saint) had passed away at age 13.6 yrs and the house was suddenly very lonesome and big and empty. My boyfriend and I had hugely broken hearts. I took the chance of checking the Rescue Me website after almost three weeks of crying myself to sleep nightly, and there was Charlie Bucket! And, he was just an hour away from where we live. I couldn't believe it. It was love at first sight. He's an older boy, who is housebroken and had had a similar surgery to our Clifford, so we know how to handle his needs. He is such a love and the house is happy again. He wants to be touched and to touch and lean into you. Just what two broken hearted people needed. He's his own dog. He is such a blessing and I think his finding us was divinely inspired. We are grateful to his former parents who are moving overseas that they trusted us to take him on. He is a gift, and he's rescuing us, instead of vice versa! Thank you, Rescue Me! (By the way, Charlie Bucket was the little boy character in the Willi Wonka movie; he won the golden ticket when he was not tempted by greed or other vices! Seems to fit!)

Within hours of posting of Kermit needing a home on the Rescue Me site, I received multiple calls from purebred rescue groups willing to foster him to people wanting to adopt. Two days later, he is in a new home. This is the second time I've used this site to help place dogs. I am a veterinarian and we've had an owner pass away and another dog needing a different home environment and they've both been successfully placed. This is a great site. -Dawn Bookmyer, DVM

I was afraid this world be kind of weird, a person you know nothing about, coming to your home, and picking up your fur baby. But this was amazing! It's better than taking them to a pound, where they'll be put to sleep, or waiting with a million other dogs for a home. Your pet gets to wait in his home. And it was safe, and after meeting his new family, I know he's going to a better place, I couldn't be happier! Thanks, Rescue Me.

Rescue Me was extremely helpful in finding a new home for my six year old lab, Ellie. I had Ellie since she was a tiny puppy, but finally had to admit that I just did not have enough time or space available to give her the life she deserved. Through Rescue Me, I was able to quickly and easily find her a new forever home with someone who I can tell will take great care of her, and now she will get the attention and space to run that she really deserves. I will also definitely be keeping Rescue Me in mind in the future when I am someday in a better position to adopt another dog! This is truly an excellent service, and much needed in the world of pet owners!

I am ever so grateful for Rescue Me! I took in Midnight after he was hit by a car and the only concern his previous owner had was the vet bill. I offered to pay and when I met her at the vet she decided to let the shelter take him. Oh no you don't! I took him home with me instead. I already had two dogs and one of them did nothing but pick on poor Midnight. After seven months of trying everything I possibly could to work things out I knew I had to look for a new home for Midnight. As much as it was breaking my heart, it truly wasn't fair to him to constantly get picked on. I had him posted on numerous websites and Rescue Me was the only one that I received any response from. Midnight went to live with his new Mommy and Daddy today and he almost instantly gave his new Mommy a hug and kisses! I know he will be loved!

Thank you to Rescue Me. Because of this site, I was not just able to find a home for Tacoma but a forever home for her. Adopting out an animal is so hard due to people wanting them for the wrong reasons or not even having knowledge on the breed of puppy they want to bring into their home. Tacomas story started at the dog park when her mom met another unfixed husky. I thought that maybe she was fine until a few weeks passed by when I noticed Koda had gained weight. I contacted the vet and brought her in, still too early for the vet to tell she had me come back in two weeks. So two weeks came and another trip to the vet. While at the vet they gave her an ultrasound, sure enough, she was pregnant with three tiny puppy's. A few weeks later, the puppies arrived. They were so cute and tiny, but I knew I could not keep them all. So I put up Tacoma on Rescue Me. Within two weeks I started to get interest in her. So many people wanted her, but knew nothing about the breed. I was searching for the perfect fit. Siberians require so much training, grooming and exercise and also cause a lot of destruction in their first year. I had people think they were like a cat for people who thought they could be kept outdoors. Until an email came through that ended up being the perfect new owner for Tacoma. Knowing that the puppy still could not leave her mom for another six weeks, she still met up with me provided me proof of prior vet care for other animals in the past as well as the vet I for for me to contact. A home check that will be done prior to release of the animal. I'm so thankful to Rescue Me for helping Tacoma find her forever new home. I recommend this site to anyone who needs to find their pet a new home.

Rusty was adopted by a wonderful family. Rusty's new dad has a four year old red nose Staffordshire and she once lived in a house with another dog. She always had play time. Well, Rusty's dad moved in with his new wife and her five year old daughter. The red nose girl was sad and had no playmate, and her dad was looking for a very particular dog to bring into the family for both his dog and the couple's young daughter. Well? RUSTY fits the bill right the minute he read his description at Rescue Me. The meet and greet went wonderfully and Rusty's new doggie sister and human sister love him to pieces. The family has enrolled Rusty in training for the little girl and mom as well as both dogs in agility training! I could of not asked for a better family to place Rusty into. He was vetted, neutered, and fostered by me for a little before he headed to his new forever home. Best outcome ever and I love getting updates from the family. He also is microchipped, of course!

I adopted Wilson on Saturday. When we got home, I sat him on the bed and he owned a place to sleep as fast as I put him on the bed. He is crate trained, but I don't think he will spend much time in his crate, (only enough to keep his training honed.) I felt so sad for the dad we adopted Wilson from, having to adopt his baby out. This is the second best Doxie I've ever had. This web site 'Rescue Me' is a real good place to adopt out and to find wonderful dogs of any breed, (I chose Dachshund because mine passed away and I need another friend to pet to help me sleep). I couldn't be happier with this wonderful boy, and this great site. Wilson is just what his dad said he was and I will keep him and give him a great spoiled him for ever. Thank you, Rescue Me, and to Wilson's dad. (Hey, does that make Wilson's dad, 'My baby's daddy'? LOL... Joking, of course, but he can see Wilson when ever he wants. Visitation is given liberally here. Thank you, thank you to Wilson's daddy.
