Basenji Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

small to medium size yellow and white labsenji. We have had him about 8 months got him from an animal shelter where we believe he came from CA at approximately a year old. He is a very active dog who needs to be busy at all times. He has a dominant personality and has shown a jealous nature with the dog we had prior to his adoption. He wants to take his toys, eat his food, and is pushy when not getting all the attention. He has a VERY loving personality, and just wants to be loved, but would do best where he is a single dog who is going to get all the attention. We are looking for a person who know Basenji's and are looking specifically for ... (Read More)a Basenji Breed as he requires all the love and attention that a prior Basenji owner can give him.     MEET WEBSTER! Webster is a sweet and happy 9-year-old pittie-boxer-shepherd mix. He was saved from a high-kill shelter and was there for almost two months! Webster is a great dog who was passed over time and again due to his 9-year-old label, though we think he could be younger. This boy would love to lounge on the couch or on your bed and snuggle! He loves to go for walks and car rides and would make a wonderful companion for someone who is looking for a more mellow dog. Please help Webster get out of a kennel.

Animal ID: Fezik (Ellensburg WA)Fezik (Ellensburg WA) (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Fezik is a male shepherd mix approximately 8 years old with the softest, sweetest, most easy-going spirit of any dog you will ever meet. Ever. Really. There are not enough superlatives to describe what a gem this boy is. If you want a happy, steady dog who can just slide right in to your life and fit like a glove, Fezik is it. Housetrained - check. Well-mannered on a leash - check. Good with cats - check. Good with other easy-going dogs (especially the ladies!) - check. Friendly with people - check. Not a barker - check. Good at the vet and groomer - check, check. And on and on it goes. His grizzled muzzle gives him a wise, mature ... (Read More)appearance. Due to a congenital defect, Fezik has one eye smaller than the other. This does not cause him discomfort, but it does make him look like he's giving you a cheeky wink. It adds to his charm. He is a champion snuggler, great riding in the car and hanging at home without needing a kennel. Fezik could fit in just about anywhere. All he wants is to be with his people. Because he was not neutered until he came to JHR, Fezik is nervous around very boisterous, large male dogs. He enjoys the company of female dogs and very mellow male dogs. He is living in a foster home with a large female dog and an old cat and does very well with them both. When he arrived in foster care we discovered he had multiple ticks deep in his ear canals. They were removed during his neuter and dental cleaning, but this may have contributed to some slight hearing loss. His foster mom hasn't heard him bark at all, even when the other dog is barking or when someone knocks at the door. (Attention apartment dwellers!) His adorable snore is the loudest sound he has made so far. He weighs 75 pounds, but he is stocky and dense rather than big. His life before he came to JHR is a mystery, but however he wound up as a stray in Southern Idaho it's hard to imagine why no one came looking for him. He has obviously been a loved pet in the past, and he's ready to be that again in a forever home with a very, very lucky new family. If interested in knowing more about Fezik and the adoption process contact journeyhomerescue@outlook.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-02-25-00022Belle (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Darling Belle is approx 4yrs old and weighs about 25lbs. She is a very sweet, happy girl that does best in an easy going environment. She is a happy, bouncy, affectionate dog that is looking for a home with adults only, or with kids over 16yrs old. She can sometimes feel insecure with men so a woman only home or one with an easy going, gentle man is a must. She rides great in the car and loves going on walks on trails and low activity neighborhoods. She is a sturdy, leggy girl so a jogging partner would be great, too. She becomes over stimulated with busy social settings so a rural home without lots of activity would be ideal. She ... (Read More)gets along wonderful with other dogs but is not interested in having a doggy playmate so she does not need another dog in the home. She is a quiet girl that will only bark when she hears or sees something out of the ordinary. She is fully house and crate trained so can be left home alone for a reasonable amount of hours. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-02-25-00020Lulubell (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My Story PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL US WITHOUT FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION. ***Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com*** IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE AN APPLICATION, WE WILL NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAIL. Lulubell 5 year old female poodle mix 19.6 lbs. The past history of the sweetest, most loyal little lady of Lulubell is beyond sad. We saw the story of Lulubell on the shelter website which included information that this sweet lady had a mass the size of a grapefruit on her belly. We asked the shelter if anyone was coming to get her and they said no. They asked us to please help her ASAP because she has the gentlest soul to which we replied 'of ... (Read More)course, you bet we will.' We got Lulubell out of the shelter and to our vet where several things needed to happen. She was a horrific, matted to the skin, stinking mess. The mats were so bad they were pulling at her tortured skin. She needed the grapefruit size mass removed and to be checked for further mammary masses. She also needed to be spayed and her teeth were an absolute mess. The neglect on this baby doll was despicable. We got Lulubell all the medical she needed. The mass was removed and another mamory mass was found while she was under. It was removed, tested, and they both came back benign. To get the masses removed Lulubell had to be cut the full length of her belly. She also had to have 8 teeth removed. It was also discovered that there was a black tiny little mass on Lulubell's nipples, and to be on the safe side the nipple was removed. The love and gentleness of Lulubell is so difficult to put into words. She is 5 years old, weighs 19.6 lbs, and oh so loyal - such a sweet loving soul. She loves people like you would never believe; she is also loving to dogs and kind with respectful children. She spent a lot of time in her foster home with the foster mums 12 year old granddaughter. Lulubell will absolutely need to go to a forever home with dogs present in the home. This is mandatory. Her people must be home during the day as she loves to be loved. Lulubell, like all of our rescues, will need a forever home who will work with her on potty training. Now Lulubell is spayed, chipped, up to date on her shots, heart worm negative & just had a major dental. To be considered to be my new family you must meet all the requirements listed above an an application must be submitted at aberdeenstr.com for me. My rescue cannot respond to every application as they are working extremely hard to find myself and all my other dog friends that are rescued their loving forever homes too. Lulubell has an adoption fee of $675 __________________________ **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to commit a lifetime to him/her. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit group of animal lovers. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable as we need these funds to pay our current medical bills for our dogs as well as any future dogs we rescue as well. As an adopter, you must be prepared to accept the fact that these dogs are rescues and, just like you and I, they all have their own individual personalities. In most cases, these little ones have been through a difficult journey that started when their family gave them up or they became lost. They may have been under stress, neglected or even abused in their past life or frightened by being left alone on the streets to fend for themselves. When submitting an application, Please be 100% certain that you are committed to completing the adoption process. This includes having all household members in agreement of the dog adoption and being prepared to complete the adoption once approved. We are committed to placing each dog in the very best home possible. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-24-00029DESPERATE FOR FOSTER (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

WE DESPERATELY NEED A FOSTER HOME FOR AT LEAST 2-3WKS for this sweet, bonded pair. We will then be able to get them spayed and have a much needed dental surgery, and then find them their own forever home. This pair appears to be a mama (Priya) / daughter (Pasha) duo (the white poodle is mama). Priya is blind, but still very happy and friendly. The black dog in the background (Pasha) iloves to run and race through the yard, and be a silly girl, but will often come back to check on Priya to make sure all is ok. These girls eat together, sleep together, and even walk hip to hip (so Pasha can guide her mama). They were found wandering in a ... (Read More)California desert and it appeared that Priya had recently had pups... although they could not be found. They were in a great foster home but are now on their way to the Northwest. Their foster home fell through so we are desperately trying to find a caring, easy going home for these girls before they arrive. They are house trained and crate trained, and can be left alone for a reasonable amount of hours. They get along great with other animals, too. During foster, all supplies will be provided by k9rr. He should be about 10lbs when full grown. He is a very sweet, friendly puppy so would love to have an active, social home with a school age child or two to call his own. Animal ID: Keebler (Southern ID)Keebler (Southern ID) (male)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! I'm Keebler (2 yrs young)and I know you're probably wondering what kind of exotic breed of dog I may be - possibly a 'Basseeler' or maybe a 'heel-ound' I'm not sure what my pedigree is, but I can assure you that my personality is nothing but happy and the sweetest you'll meet. My outstanding qualities are that I get along with other dogs AND cats, in fact the cats in my current home love me. I will give them a courtesy chase should they run, but I would never hurt them. The four dogs I'm currently living with are all sizes, females and males and we get along just great. I love to play chase, do a little wrestling, but mostly I ... (Read More)just want to be a part of the group. Also, I am a very quick learner, especially if there's a treat involved. I know sit, down, come and I'm working on stay, that one is hard, but I'm told I'm getting better at it. I like going for a ride in the car and I'm really good on a leash, in fact I will help you by holding the leash in my mouth while we walk. Since I can't really tell anyone what my previous life was like, all I can tell you is that it has made me really want to be with you, especially when I first come home with you so I don't feel like I have been abandoned again. I will need a home with a family that will be patient enough to understand that I need some time to get to know that I am safe and secure with them. I don't like to go outside by myself, I do much better if I can see you while I'm out going potty, I know it's asking a lot, but it's just until I feel comfortable and secure with my surroundings.     We have been walking this dog for years but recently the owners had a baby and Rusty needs to find a new home. My opininon is that he just needs to be around family only and not introduced to strangers as he has had a few aggression issues. My daughter started spending time with him when she was 5 and over 3 years has always been very gentle and protective of her. I trust him totally. He needs a home fast!

She is great with kids of all ages, dogs of all kinds and cats ( can you believe it?) Koza walks well on a leash and is house trained. She is no Houdini and does not dig or climb fences when she visits her parents' friends with other dogs, like her best friend, Chloe the pitbull. To be fair, she has never been left alone in anyone's yard, so ... (Read More)we make no guarantees if she is placed in that position. Koza currently resides in Idaho.     YES, I'M AVAILABLE! Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APP before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation!****** Poor Loki - this is one sad tail. His family dropped him off at a extremely high kill shelter at the age of 10 in California. The state he was dropped off in was an absolute mess. Loki's time had run out in the shelter, so with open arms we took him into the rescue to save his life. We got him to our vets, and the litany of medical care this poor guy needed was heartbreaking. He needed his eye removed immediately, he had a raging ear infection, his teeth were an absolute ... (Read More)mess( he needed to have10 complex teeth removed), and his remaining good eye needed medication. The poor little man was a smelly matted mess, too, and was given a good bath and grooming. After everything Loki had done medically, and all the care he needed, he is still the sweetest gentleman. He has adjusted well to the removal of his eye. His remaining eye will need continued monitoring and medication to maintain his current vision. While he struggles to track a toy if you toss it, he can certainly find it by its squeaks! Loki lives with other dogs in his foster home, and he will come running if they are squeaking a toy as well! Loki also has an excellent nose to go with his hearing, and will come jaunting to the sound of a treat bag! He loves all things snack as well as soft comfy beds. Did we mention he loves squeaky toys? And snacks? Loki also loves to sleep on or at the feet of his people and he will make an excellent companion to someone who wants a snuggle partner. Loki will need to go to a home where people are present during the day & it would be nice for him to have another dog in the home for companionship. He will also need a home who understands all of our rescues do need work with their potty training. This little guy is neutered, chipped, up to date on all his shots, just had a major dental, heart worm negative & looking for a quiet home who will cherish this little man. Loki has an adoption fee of $450 & this fee does not even cover half of his medical care alone. Like most dogs in our rescue, Loki will need help with potty training. ----------------------------------------------------------- **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Link Is a great companion to a person. He loves to make his master happy and be loved by his master. He is always playful and ready to go. Though some of the Heeler in him comes out when you play and he tries hearding you and nipping at your shirt. He stops after being told not to but still it happens. He does not get along with other dogs, though has not been properly socialized, with the proper training and guidance I don't see a problem with him learning to behave. He learns quickly and is motivated by food, and knows a few commands, Sit, Wait, and Gentle (take treats nicely). Would be best in a home either with his sister Zelda, ... Would do fine in a family setting to as he loves children especially young ones that give him lots of attention, which he reciprocates with lots of licking and following.     Kona is an 8 year old sweetheart! He is a big lover and wiggle butt. He does great with all dogs (small, large, male, female), loves the dog park, walks well on the leash. Good with kids. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-16-00039Pongo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Pongo is such a sweet, beautiful boy! This darling boy is barely a year old and weighs about 80lbs. He is friendly with everyone he meets, sits politely for his treat and then he off to race through the yard and play a game of chase. He can sometimes become a bit too excited when he meets new people so he will jump occasionally, but he's SO smart... he's learning very quickly that he's too big for this type of greeting! Pongo loves his people and just wants to be near them so he does have a bit of separation anxiety (unless he's with his doggy pal) it's understandable though, becasue he has been in a boarding facility for more than 4 ... (Read More)MONTHS! We've been able to step in to help this boy by placing him in a foster home that allows him to run the yard and stretch those longs legs, and that helps him realize he's going to have lots of the attention and love he craves. He has not been well socialized with other dogs so he is a bit insecure with new dogs when he first meets them. But after just a few minutes, he will run, play and wrestle with other large, neutral tempered playful dogs. He needs a person that will commit to helping him excel in his training and give will give him lots of attention and excercise. Running, jogging and hiking would be ideal! Children over 10yrs old is the home would be fine, and another large, playful dog would be ideal. He MUST have a 6ft or taller, securely fenced backyard and until he learns that he's finally found a home and can feel more secure, he should not be left alone for more than 5-6hr intervals. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Proudly presenting WOLFIE, Wolfie arrived in WA in January after an 18 hour ground transport that brought him from CA. There he had been gone through a lot. After being attacked by one of her dogs, a woman had dropped WOLFIE off at a local vet but never returned to pick him up, nor pay the bill. He had undergone surgeries around his head and neck. Then my rescue ADR.org heard of this situation and offered to take WOLFIE on. He still was altogether 4 weeks in a vet crate with little to no exercise. He was more than willing to leave this place. Since his arrival on Orcas island Wolfie has well settled in the home of the founder of ADR.org.: ... (Read More)after the first two days of initial anxiety to be back in the night in a wire crate and trying everything to make his way 'out', he then and ever since has no problem to get into his crate of 42' for the night. He is well with other dogs (living with 2 big male dogs and 1 female, as well as 3 cats. Wolfie is respectful with cats but just cannot help it to chase them a bit - but nothing dangerous. The founder of ADR.org also rescued a 4 months old kitten to which he is all the time exposed whilst in the house. So if you have a cat(s) a cohabitation will work. WOLFIE walks well on a leash/harness but you have to have a solid grip on the leash at all times- especially if he sees rabbits, squirrels or deer. A strong command of 'NO' and a verbal correction is very well received by Wolfie. He likes car rides, and does not get sea-sick. As for eating he is picky at times -meaning he eats a bit of kibbles, then stops or does not eat at all but then returns to his food dish to finish breakfast or dinner (WOLFIE is fed twice), and he loves cottage cheese (but not mixed with kibbles). He would possibly like a lot to be with another dog (in his opinion 'females' preferred%81S. Regarding being with children - I think he would be not good in handling random, uncontrolled approaches as children use to practice- and will run away and shy away. So I think a home with adults only that are around most of the time would be preferred and to his best. He can hang out with you forever inside - as he loves 'his' human and the sheer presence of you gives WOLFIE the comfort he so longs for. But when he sees you grabbing his leash'|WOLFIE (oh boy) is ready to 'go'. He is a mix of a Australian shepherd and Chow (most likely), weights about 45lbs and is around 5-6. Up to date with vaccinations for 1 year, microchipped and neutered. If this profile triggers a bit your interest, please contact me at ADR@animaldefenserescue.org - tell me a little bit about yourself, your other pet(s) you might have and add some photos. Thanks for your cooperation!****** Tessa was in a high kill shelter in CA & they did not know if she was pregnant & she was completely out of time with her life & we could see she was extremely pregnant & well what do you know roughly 32 hours later she had 5 male puppies. I am one of Tessa's beautiful babies we do not know who my dad was. I am 11 weeks old & will be neutered by laser, had my first round of puppy shots, been dewormed twice, chipped & have been learning to go potty on potty pads. I have ... (Read More)been with my mum & brothers & they have been teaching me my puppy manners. My foster family says 'Luigi is very sweet! A little mellow, likes to play hard with his bros and then cuddle up for a snooze. He has a heart murmur that is still being monitored by our vet ' Being a puppy I can only go to a home where people are going to work with me on potty training & training & someone must be home during the day & I need another dog present in the house for companionship. I will be ready to go to my forever home on 2/24/18 Like most dogs in our rescue, Luigi will need work on potty training. Luigi has an adoption fee of $650 __________________________ **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. As an all volunteer rescue we spend several hours vetting and approving each applicant and every minute spent working on applicants that are not prepared to complete the adoption takes us away from saving another dogs life. This truly is a life and death matter for these precious souls. Thank you for your understanding. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to come look at a dog We will contact you once we have received and reviewed your completed application. A Home visit as well as a reference check MUST be completed before a meet & greet can be scheduled. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Adoption Process All of our dogs are in foster homes, so please fill out an application on our website to meet them in person: www.aberdeenstr.com. Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Maverick is a very sweet boy. We adopted him April 2017 and were his third home. He has come an incredibly long way since we got him. He has learned to eat out of a bowl, learned to walk on a leash and heal, learned basic obedience, and lost 30 pounds. He was incredibly shy and has since come out of his shell. He is a happy boy who loves to cuddle. He loves small dogs and is indifferent to cats (we have one), but sometimes big dogs can get him a little riled up. He is neutered and current on all shots. At the last visit to the vet, she told us he had finally reached his goal weight so he is quite healthy. He occasionally has dribbles when he ... (Read More)needs to go pee, so we have some incontinence pills and we throw one in with his kibble when we feed him which has solved the issue. The reason we unfortunately have to rehome him is because he has some mild separation anxiety that is beyond our ability to help him with. We are so sad that we are not the right home for him, but we are dedicated to finding him a home he can flourish in. We have met with a behaviorist and have much information to hand over to Maverick's new owners about his separation anxiety, as well as all of his toys, crate, beds, etc. Maverick is VERY smart and learns incredibly quickly. He is food motivated and loves kongs/toy puzzles with treats in them. He has come a long way with us and we are hopeful that we can help him to find his forever home. (Less)

Piper (aka Jayne) 1 Year Old Fawn Boxer X Great with Dogs No Cats Larger/Older Children Basic Obedience (still learning) Fostered in Oakridge, OR Hi! My name is Piper. You might think that I look familiar and you'd be right. I was known as Jayne before through WHBR but was adopted and got a new name to go with the new family. With an extremely heavy heart and tear-filled eyes my previous family had to make a choice for what is right for me, so here I am. I know that this time I will find the perfect family. Have you seen my adorable face and spunky, curly tail? If not, go ahead and take a gander'| I'll wait... Did you see them? ... (Read More)Great! I'm so adorable that my foster mama can't keep a straight face when she's trying to help me learn the right behaviors. He! He! He! My foster mama says, I'm not allowed to look on top of the counters but I can't help it, there's so much going on up there including meal time. Plus, I get so excited when she comes home even though she has just gone out to the mailbox. Car rides are the best even if its just to run errands, anything to stay close to you. Siblings? No worries I love having siblings both skinned and furred alike. I absolutely love to play so having siblings to play with would be awesome. Cuddling? Even better! I love to snuggle up close and take a nap and to give some of my famous kisses. Gotta go now but my foster mama wants to add some things as well. Hope to meet you soon. Hello, Piper's foster mama here. Piper is such an adorable girl with a heart of gold. She has a ton of puppy in her but don't let that stop you, she is going to be a wonderful girl once she matures. Obedience classes would be beneficial even though she currently has some basic training. I have cat tested her and unfortunately, she's not good with cats. Piper does have some separation anxiety but seems to do better if you leave her out of her crate (just leave the door open because she goes in when she wants to. She's a great snuggle buddy, she's snuggling with me now while I pass on this information to you lol. She may only be a youngster but she takes on the big sister role here with her foster siblings. She does great with both big and small dogs. Piper tends to jump up so I wouldn't recommend her if you have small children. She gets so happy that she tends to have a hard time controlling it but we're working on it. I'm still learning things about her everyday so feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them the best I can. Piper's YouTube video https://youtu.be/qNF11ll6xOs.     I'M OLIVE! I'm a 1-year-old small brown-and-sable small pittie (around 40 lbs) who found myself at a scary shelter awhile back. I'm super cute, and love to sit with one ear up! What's up doc? I'm now in a foster home and doing my best to learn how to be a lady. I could use some manners to be sure. I'm quite the bossy girl and right now prefer to be the only dog in the house. But besides that, I'm perfect! I love, love, love people. I could snuggle on the couch all day long, laying my head -- with my huge ears -- on your lap or leg. I will follow you around like I'm your shadow. And I'll sit for treats and gaze lovingly at you all day long. I ... Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

JACKIE aka Zoey is a fantastic dog...about 8 mos old...Jackie/ /AKA Zoey is one of the sweetest, cutest dogs you will ever meet. She is spayed, 4 vaccinations including Bordetella, Rabies, Leptospira & Influenza and microchipped. When she is outside, she is active, runs and plays great with other dogs, and at the park, she runs around, but always stays nearby her human(s) and instantly comes running back when called to. Once home, loves nothing more than to be by your side with her head on your lap and just relax or finds the box of toys and play with as many as possible until the box is empty. She is very curious, very smart and a quick ... (Read More)learner. She can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, but with some encouragement, she warms up to them very quickly. She can be frightened of new noises, but also seems to not bother her after hearing it just a few times. Zoey needs to go to a home with another dog she can learn from, and with someone who will not be away from home for long periods. We might possibly consider a home w/o another dog or dogs but only if with two adults who are with her nearly 24/7 as she does howl and /or begin to chew things from what we would call a mild separation anxiety when alone. She was saved from an 87% kill shelter in TX, so dog only knows her past. She was one of the lucky few to make it out alive and she seems to know it and shows her affection for being saved. She adores her human and dog friends very dearly. We will be seeking a home for her without cat(s). Also, because she will howl some, she needs to be in a home (no apartment/condo/townhomes). Please watch our YouTube video of her playing with the others... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS0rwvkcifY&feature=youtu.be ADOPTION FEE: $450. Includes all the medical, microchipping, and health certificate for transporting to the NW. All travel costs are included. All you have to add is LOVE! I have an outgoing and affectionate personality. I was tested with another dog and did fine, but I'm very puppy-ish and I guess I need better manners. I could probably use some basic training, and I will do well because I'm smart and eager to please. I'd love an active family who hikes, walks on the beach, or plays ball.     Sage is roughly 3 years old. She has a very sad story. She found herself on death row at a shelter in Texas with her 5 puppies. Then the shelter 'lost' one of her puppies. We rescued Sage and brought her to WA state. Sage was in a foster home with multiple dogs in Texas but she shouldn't live with little dogs or cats. That doesn't mean she can never be around them, but she shouldn't be off leash/unsupervised around them. She is WONDERFUL with people and kids. She loves attention and responds well to commands. She is very gentle and well mannered.

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-01-00439Urpi (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is Urpi, pronounced (oor-pih) is a quechua word for 'bird.' This cutie has been in my family since we adopted her 12 years ago--she was barely 2 months old. When my parents moved back to Peru, I took her with me so she wouldn't have to go back to a shelter. She has had a really important role in my life, has taught me so many invaluable lessons, and has been the most loyal friend I could ever ask for....so this process is truly difficult for me. I'm really sad I can't care for her anymore, but she deserves better. When we adopted her from the shelter, they told us she is an Australian Shepherd mix, but I think she also has some ... (Read More)Lapponian Herder in her. She is house trained, neutered, weighs 40 pounds and all her shots are up to date. She has been on flea/tick prevention medication for a while now. Urpi is most definitely a herder breed (just not sure what kind) and she is meant to live out in the country or with someone who can dedicate time to her exercise needs. Because of her breed, she gets anxious if she doesn't exercise well--she will probably try to find things on counter or the floor/trash to chew on to try to get your attention. She is old, but she LOVES long walks and can still run along with you...especially if it's in the woods. If she gets her daily needed exercise, she will sleep and lounge the rest of the day. I haven't been able to train her to not sleep on my bed or couch, so someone who has great training skills or likes to cuddle with pets is a good match for her. She doesn't really get interested in playing with other dogs, but she doesn't mind them or acts aggressive toward them. In the past, she has lived with other dogs and also a cat (it took her a few weeks to adapt to cat, but in the end, they were able to live in the same house peacefully). It would be amazing if her new family would allow me to visit her sometimes, but more importantly, she deserves a loving, caring home. I'm not able to care for her anymore, as I'm currently pregnant and will not have the capacity to give her the attention she needs and deserves. She really is a sweet, tender dog, just not the typical affection-seeking one. (Less)

YES, I'M AVAILABLE! ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION at www.aberdeenstr.com before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation!****** The lovely Allie and her absolutely adorable puppies came from a high-kill shelter in California and needed out because they were in danger of being euthanized. All of Allie's puppies have gone to their forever homes, and now it is time for her to find her happily ever after. This sweet mama is around 2 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and she has been dewormed and microchipped. She gets along well with other dogs and older children, but we haven't had her around cats yet, ... (Read More)so we're not sure what she thinks of them. Given her docile nature, we think she would do well in a home with a cat. Allie is very sweet, gentle, and eager for attention but is slow to warm up and trust. She most likely spent a significant amount of time as a stray and is initially timid. Once she warms up to you, she loves being by your side and wants affection. She is very playful and loves plush squeaky toys. Allie has really come out of her shell in her foster home but still isn't very comfortable being picked up. She hasn't been taught to walk on a leash yet. She's food motivated and eager to please her people, so she will respond well to training in her forever home. She has good manners, takes food gently, and doesn't show any food aggression. Allie knows to go potty as soon as she goes outside or on the potty pad inside. Like most dogs in our rescue, Allie will need work on house and obedience training. Allie must go to a home where people are present and there is another playful dog in the home. Allie has an adoption fee of $625. __________________________ **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. Our number one focus is finding these little loves a wonderful forever home with a family who is going to care for them and show them what it is like to be loved, a safe environment, a full belly and a warm bed. These sweet babies do not ask for much from you but they may require a little patience and understanding. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to come look at a dog. We will contact you once we have received and reviewed your completed application. Rescue Me ID: 17-12-11-00127Valero (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The following are some of the comments my foster angel Mum has sent about me: 'Valero is a complete and total sweetheart. While most of the time he has a calm and gentle demeanour, he can also be a bit of a spitfire when it comes time to play. He really just wants to spend time with his human and dog pack. That is definitely his life's highest goal'. 'He is ok with some cats, others are for chasing. He loves all dogs, but some may have a problem with him. While he definitely understands socialization with humans, he can really miss the ball when it comes to other dogs. Other dogs can be sure to let him know he is the biggest dork they have ... (Read More)ever met!' 'His bestfriend Benny is probably the first dog friend he has ever had in his life, and he is super duper attached. I suspect that he spent quite a bit of time alone', 'With the use of his favourite treats he has learned: not to jump up on people, to sit for treats, affection and food, and in general, how to understand and respect personal boundaries' 'He has an incredibly calming and soothing presence, he just really wants to be around his person/people.' 'He is always up for a leashed adventure and he enjoys retrieving balls, rope and just about any toy - but only for a few minutes at a time' 'When he sits for attention and you put your arms around him he just turns into warm butter'. 'He is very potty trained now (thank you fancy meat treats for providing incentive) but he should be crated when no one is home. He does very well when he goes out in public and enjoys making new friends everywhere he goes'. 'Valero still needs some training but that is ok because you can teach him what you want him to know and he is a speedy learner' 'He is a really sensitive guy and he responds very well to positive reinforcement. He is also incredibly endearing. It is impossible not to love him if you have spent any time with him. Valero is an excellent little dog' - Valero's foster Mom Doesn't this guy sound amazing? We don't usually just quote the foster directly, but when the foster gives us so much information and clearly loves the dog - it just seems right. They know the dog better than anyone. *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. Rescue Me ID: 17-12-10-00434Zoe (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Look at this sweet little lady Zoe, a whole 7 lbs of her, well under the care of the foster mum she is gaining weight. This sweet 4 year old Maltese mix we believe came to us pure skin & bones, scary thin. Your whole hand fit around her tiny frail frame. We were asked to take Zoe into our rescue from a kill shelter in CA, & we know why this little lady was a shelter favorite. We were told that she had a uti or possibly bladder stones but our vet quickly realized after 2 x-rays & medication that this sweet little lady has nerve damage down near her tail & second vertebrae. Our vet also discovered that she only has a nub for a tail. We do not ... (Read More)know if man did this to Zoe or she was born this way? It was also discovered that she has slight symptoms of a luxated patella on her right side but is showing no signs of it. Zoe is a 4 year old female, 7 lbs, up to date on her shots, chipped, spayed, just had a dental & is heart worm negative. This little lady will need a very kind, dedicated special home as she is incontinent & needs to wear a nappy or belly band due to having no control over her bodily functions because of the nerve damage. That being said she runs around & plays with the other dogs & cats & loves people & is being fostered with a family with teenagers who she also adores. Please only apply for Zoe if you are committed to being her forever home with her incontinent issues & not just because you see a very adorable little angel. Zoe is a life long commitment. She must go to a home with other dogs present in the home & with people present in the home. This little lady is full of so much love & joy & was a picky eater when she first joined our rescue but the foster mum has certainly turned that around. Zoe is such a special little lady! Please do not apply just because you see a precious little girl, she truly needs someone who will be fully committed to her and her needs. Zoe has an adoption fee of $575. __________________________ **IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ** An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption.     Hi there, my names is Amber but you have the green light to come ask about me! I am looking for my forever home that will tick all the boxes, maybe your boxes and mine are the same? I am a very happy and playful young pooch, kinda still a big puppy (but without the annoying parts) I love playing outside and running around in my big yard. Oh and I LOVE water, I get so excited when I see it cos I just want to jump in and play.. do you like water? I love the smell of wet people - then I know you like to play in the water too :) All that excitement does get tiring though and so I do like to relax and watch the birds and the squirrels in ... I am a really good girl and walk nicely on the leash for you and I am happy to go into my crate - but honestly, don't leave me in there too long cos I miss you. Speaking of you, I would prefer to have you all to myself, so if I could be your only furry BFF that would be nice. I love people but I prefer my people bigger - please no little kids, they can be too overwhelming for me. So if you're stuck on Amber - I give you the green light to go for it!! *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption.
