Baxter can't decide if he's a responsible adult or a rambunctious puppy! The truth is, he's both. While Baxter is house trained, doesn't tear stuff up (unless it's a toy...or he thinks it is...) and happy to hang out in his kennel (according to his foster mom!) overnight, he's still just a puppy at heart. He LOVES to play tug and retrieve a ball for you. He really loves to show off how well he's learned 'down' (often laying down for you without you asking!) We rescued Sadie from a Shelter about 2 mos ago, initially she seemed fine with cats however she definitely needs to be in a NO CAT HOME. with the overcrowding at the shelter we do not want to do an owner surrender for fear of her not making it because they are 30 dogs over capacity and in fear of having to begin euthanizing after being a no kill Shelter for 10+ years. Sadie is about 4 years old. SUPER SWEET! At 55lbs she thinks she's a lap dog. Lol. All vaccinations are current. She is VERY STRONG and needs work with walking on a leash or a harness (which I have not tried) %A4|%8Fȉ'%8D'ە%8F and not pulling. When we take her out ... She does great with crate training however she still has a few accidents if left to roam the entire house or if the kids (4 of them) have just returned from a week at their other parents she still may get excited and pee. She gets along great with our other rescue who is a large 'golden/shepherd' mix. They LOVE to wrestle like two bear cubs non stop. Very playful with her. (Read More)much and I loved her too. We had the most perfect life until she lost her job and the house we were living in. We tried living in a car for a short time but that was no life for a dog. She had to move in with relatives but they would not let me come too. They did not like dogs. I ended up back at the same shelter I was in as a puppy. Please don't think to harshly on my owner, she was doing the best she could and she cried and cried as she left me. I was given to another family but that did not work out too well. The husband did not like me and as soon as they found out they were going to have a baby, I was made to stay outside. Now as I mentioned before, I LOVE attention. Since no one was paying attention to me I started jumping the fence. I would be caught and taken back to the house but they didn't really want me. Finally, the Animal Control Officer took me to her house and reached out to Trinity GAP Rescue to help me. Because I was forced to be outside all the times I got Heartworms. It is a disease that is caught when bitten by infected mosquitoes. Trinity Gap Rescue had me treated and I will need to be rechecked in about 6 months. Hopefully, I will be cured as it is not a fun procedure. If for some unlucky reason, the Rescue will have me retreated. I am hoping the third time is a CHARM and I will find my 'FUREVER' home with a family who will love me as much as I will love them. I am house trained, crate trained , and up to date on my vaccines. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. My brother Stockton and I were found on the streets with a horrible case of mange (it's not contagious though) and a nice couple found us and contacted our foster Momma. I guess you can say the rest is history and we are living like kings now! Look how great our fur is growing in too! (3 I've gotten to learn how to be a dog for the first time. Wrestling with my brother is one of my favs, but boy I never knew what love was until I got to lay on a thing they call the couch! Snuggling with foster Momma and Daddy is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I get all the pets and kisses I could ever ask for! I'm more of the needy one of the two of us and the only one that really will give momma kisses. I guess I'm just a Momma's boy and I'm perfectly fine with that title. I'm also kind of a slow learner as it has taken me a little longer to catch on to the whole sit and go in your house trick that my brother picked up quick. Slow and steady wins the race I say. :) I'm fully crated trained and it's my safe spot too. Stockton or I will just go in there sometimes to nap when my people are home. Also I'm told I'm basically potty trained and will even go to the back door when I need to go out! I am still a puppy after all and have had a few accidents, but it was only because my people weren't paying attention when I needed to go out. I know Momma will be sad to see me go but also happy that she knows I will find the perfect home for her perfect handsome boy. Could that be you?
