Rescue Me ID: 15-08-27-00475Decker (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Decker! They say I'm about a year old. I am about thirty-five pounds. I have red hair, brown eyes, and an extremely long tail. By now you might have guessed, I am a dog. I'm being fostered by a nice senior couple, and am looking for a forever home. I'm housebroken and cage trained. I know some commands such as sit, shake, and down. I know I'm only allowed on furniture with a towel on it. When I'm corrected, I know I've done wrong. I look sad and seek forgiveness. I lay under the table while my people eat. Then they feed me. I am very quiet, loving and playful. Oh, yes, I'm a pit bull. I hope you'll give me a chance. I'm really a good ... (Read More)boy. Yours, with a red nose, Decker PS: I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped! My adoption fee is $150. GO to www.howlatthemoonrescue.com and fill out an application so I can come home with you! Rescue Me ID: 15-08-27-00321Missie (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

MISSIE is a beautiful mini Australian Shepherd mix female who simply cannot take a bad photo! We have 25 of them to prove it and we would love to share them with you. This gorgeous girl is 2 years old and weighs 28 to 30 pounds. She has been vetted, vaccinated and spayed. Unfortunately, Missie tested positive for heartworm. She is being treated for that and so we really hope that would not prevent a good family from adopting her. This sweet, lovely young dog will have a long life and she would like to have that life in her very own forever home with a family to love. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We ... (Read More)will work to transport Missie if it means she will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue to cover part of the cost of the veterinary care she has received. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-27-00244Bonita And Jazz (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bonita & Jazz! Bonita and Jazz's owner was homeless and moving from place to place, putting their lives in danger due to unsafe living conditions. He finally decided to surrender them to the pound. Because they are bonded, we pulled them from the pound the ensure they would be adopted together. These gals get along with other dogs and are great with children. Jazz's favorite toys are balls, if you have one and are willing to throw it, you'll have best friend. Bonita is a little more laid back, she'd rather sleep by your feet while you're on the computer or are sitting down but she does play. They LOVE being outside, I think their ... (Read More)favorite past time would be rolling around in the grass for hours. They will play with people, but they are quite content keeping themselves busy with playing with one another. They're both house trained. They both do good with other dogs, bigger or smaller. Bonita will whine at you if she needs to go out, and Jazz usually isn't far behind her. They LOVE to cuddle. If you're laying on the floor, Jazz will seriously get up on top of you and act as a blanket, Bonita will then try to be your pillow. Jazz also thinks shes a lap dog. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oscar was born November 2010 in KY. He is high spirited and loves to play fetch. He loves the dog park and cuddling. Oscar gets along best with older kids and most cars and dogs. He does tend to play with his mouth open though. Unfortunately Oscar cannot relocate with us and we are therefore in urgent need of finding him a forever home. He's kennel trained and house trained. He has been an inside dog his whole life but would do great with a job. He needs lots of love and attention. He also has a sensitive stomach and can have only Avoderm food and raw bones for toys. We love him very much and just want to see him happy.

He does like to run and can clear shorter fences easily so he either needs a yard with a taller fence or an owner willing to walk him on a leash to let him go potty. We need to find a better home for him or we will be forced to take him to the pound.

Animal ID: 0302Taco (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Taco. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 10 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Kensington area. I was running for a couple of days and I finally took up residence at a home there. I hung out with the kitty cats on the porch... we were pals. The lady coundn't keep me though and didn't know where I lived so she brought me in here to the pound. I came in to the pound with lots of fleas and some pretty gnarly flea dermatitis, but I am finally getting cleared up and starting to feel better. I am a shy boy at first and like most Chihuahuas I can be a little bit of a barker when new people come in. Once I warm up though, I ... (Read More)am a very sweet and loving little guy. I am more than happy sitting on your lap, or I can also just lounge on the dog beds. I do well with other dogs. I am fine with small dogs and also fine with bigger dogs as long as they're relatively calm. I am really great inside. I appear to be housebroken and here at the pound, I hold it and hold it until I get outside in the grass. I don't even like going on the concrete. I like to wait for grass time. If you're looking for a sweet little dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT%9D. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER AUGUST 25, 2015. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS. (Read More)Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through the ASPCA SAFER Assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

She occasionally plays a little with our resident dog, but overall is a very relaxed girl who just wants love and affection from her people! She is potty trained and crate trained, although she doesn't need to be crated because she is very well behaved!

(Less)

Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-19-00221Hope (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Heartworm Positive

Hope's Past: Hope was at a local pound. She was picked up as a stray and had multiple wounds and a bruise on her head. The volunteers called her 'Dove'. She was very afraid and anxious in the kennel environment. Due to her anxiety she was licking and chewing on her feet. She then began to lick the floor and walls. We pulled Dove from the pound and renamed her 'Hope'. Hope's Present: Hope is currently in a foster home. She has stopped licking and chewing on her feet. She is happy and gaining weight. She is very food motivated and easy to train. She is housebroken, does well in a crate (as long as a light is left on as she is ... (Read More)afraid of the dark), and she knows some basic obedience. Hope is heartworm positive (stage 2) and has begun treatment. Hope's Future: Hope is looking for a forever home without cats. Hope has learned to like and enjoy playing with other dogs. She prefers male dogs over females but could get along with a more submissive female dog. She would love some children in her new home. Hope is working on her leash skills. She loves toys especially squeaky tennis balls. She will even fetch. Hope is being treated for heartworm but is eligible to go to a foster to adopt home. The rescue will cover all medical treatment until Hope is heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Hope please contact us at stormsangelsrescue@gmail.com Special Requirements: No cats in home. (Less)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Shasta. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 40 lbs. I was dumped here at the pound with my friend Sulley. I guess our owners just didn't want us no more so here we are. I'm a very sweet and affectionate girl with humans!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE people!! I love giving kisses and cuddling and getting attention and affection. I am a bit on the dominant side when it comes to other dogs. I am good with calm, submissive dogs but I am reactive when dogs are aggressive or try to dominate me. I would really do best as an only dog but could likely coexist okay with a calm, submissive dog. I do like my friend Sulley just fine, but I ... (Read More)am definitely the boss. I appear to have been housebroken. I am clean inside and I wait until I am outside to go potty here at the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. *If you have any other dogs, you MUST bring them in to the pound to meet me prior to adoption.* I appear to be in good health. Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, My name is Sophie Ann. I'm about 1-2 years old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was found as a stray in East Liverpool and I was picked up by the pound. I am a very sweet girl. I am great with women but a lot of men scare me. It takes me a while to warm up. Soft spoken, kind demeanor type men don't tend to bother me at all. Once I know you're a nice person, I'm all about you. I get along great with most of the other dogs I meet. As long as the other dogs are friendly, I don't have any issues. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health. I have been given my ... (Read More)Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER AUGUST 15, 2015. (Less)

Paisley always has to be separated from our child as she has tried to bite her a few times and it breaks my heart that we can't love on Paisley a lot. Paisley is a very scared girl, and goes in to protection mode when backed in to a corner or crate. Paisley loves running around a back yard and would be great in a home with no children or pets.

Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... (Less)

Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ava is a great dog, recently had puppies, was an accidental litter. She has become aggressive with our dogs most likely due to the puppies. We are unable to keep her anymore for the aggression to my other dogs and she tends to be a little aggressive with my girlfriend for unknown reasons. We have two kids and she does good with them. We have also been battling fleas and starting to over come slowly. I just hope someone can help her. She would be a lot better with someone who doesn't already have a dog. She is timid around new people at first and slowly warms up.
