Rescue Me ID: 17-02-24-00376Thalia (female)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello there. My name is Thalia. I was born 10/21/16 and I already weigh 49.6 lbs. I will be HUGE when I grow up, likely weighing in at appoximately 120+ lbs. I was surrendered to the pound by my owner and I am looking for a family. I need a family familiar with bully breed, large dogs. I am still very rambunctious and I will require a lot of training still as well as housebreaking. I am a sweet puppy. I LOVE people and I get along well with other dogs but I play rough so i will need a sturdy play mate. I may accidentally hurt a small dog because I play rough. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting ... (Read More)me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.     with heavy hearts, we have decided to rehome our dog Spike. He's a 6 year old Alaskan Malamute/lab mix. He's great with older kids and teens but not very fond of toddlers. We currently have another dog and cat that he's good with. We have to rehome him because he's not fond of our toddler. We are asking for a small rehoming fee to make sure he goes to a good home. He comes with a collar, pinch collar for walks, food bowls, and pet bed. Please message me if interested or would like to see what he looks like. We would like to know he's going to a good home and not a shelter.

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-23-00202Aspen (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Aspen. I'm almost 8 months old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was rescued by the pound from a neglectful situation and I am now looking for a new home. I am an absolute lover!I am wonderful with people. I'm very happy and super friendly. I get along great with other dogs and I love to play. I do pretty good inside but I will need someone to work with me with my housebreaking. If you're looking for a sweet puppy to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL ... (Read More)dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. Super Sweet senior dog. 28pounds, healthy and loves people, children and other dogs. I have been trying to place her after my divorce over a year ago. She does great with me when hime but as soon as I leave she begins to whine and howl due to anxiety. She thrives well in a house setting with people around as many of my friends have helped me with her care. I am having difficulty placing (trying for months now) her as I am now working long hours and travelling every week with my job. My apartment allows dogs but is not conducive for her. Feeling her angst and looking for a good home. House trained. No accidents within an 8 -hour 10 ... (Read More)period. Loves walks and being outdoors but is super mellow. She is very loving to humans and is good with the male dog she has been with. Unfortunately, she hasn't proven to be too friendly with other dogs. I am looking for someone who works from home or is retired but still has the energy and strength to deal with a very intelligent, strong, loving dog like Lexis. I need to do something because my options are few. Help!!

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

SPECIAL NEEDS: DEAF Petey is an adorable, little polar bear. He is very silly and while he loves to play and run, he would much rather be with you. Petey appears to be deaf and will need an experienced adopter or a foster home/rescue to pull him. 50 lbs. 1 year old. If you have questions or would like to meet the dog featured on this page, please call (216) 664-3476 to speak to an adoption representative at CITY DOGS Cleveland. Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through ... (Read More)Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have been assessed. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

(Less)

(Less)

Maggy was rescued from the pound. She has been a part of my family for approximately 9 months. She is an absolute sweetheart. Her perfect world consists of play and lots of love. Although she gets along great with most dogs, she would do best with another dog her size, or being the only child with lots of human attention. Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Casper. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh about 15 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Homeworth area and I was piced up by the pound. I'm a fun, sweet little guy. I do good with adult humans but a home without small humans might be best for me unless they're very super well behaved because I don't really appreciate the shenanigans of small humans. I am okay with some, but not all other dogs, so if you have other canines that would be accompanying me in my new home, please make sure we meet prior to adopting me. I keep my crate clean most nights so I've likely had some housetraining. If you're looking for a sweet little ... (Read More)dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Hello! My name is Wonder aka Wonder McThunder! I'm about 5-7 years old and I weigh about 35 lbs. My friends Maddie, Precious and I were rescued by the pound from a very neglectful situation. My friends were both adopted already but I am still looking for a family to love. I'm a very wonderful and sweet dog with a lot of love to give. We were all living outside because our owners said they couldn't get us to 'be housebroken'. Um yeah, so they put us outside and we all had to fend for ourselves. We weren't even given anything to shelter us from the elements. Needless to say, even through all of that, I am still an absolutely lovely boy. I ... American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

The name's Frankie, or Frank for short...but don't you dare let me catch you callin' me Fran or Francis....do I look like a Francis to you??? I am just a young stud who finds kennel life to be a real drag...literally. What's an active boy like me supposed to do in a kennel all day, every day? All I want to do is run around and jump and play but I'm stuck in a 3' x 5' cage most of the time and you can't really play in that small of a space. When I get to go for walks, I tend to need to burn off some of this energy and can be a big of a puller....but if I was able to get out of here, I probably wouldn't have this problem so much. What wouldn't ... (Read More)change is my outgoing personality...I love to be the life of the party so if you're looking for a calm, lap dog, I'm probably not going to be your cup of tea.     Yep, it's me Chevy again...many of you have seen my handsome face a time or two and that's because I had been at the Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center for several months before being adopted in January. Well, as much as my adoptive family loved me, their circumstances changed and so here I am again...I'm just hoping I don't have to wait even longer this time around to find my happy home! You know, we dogs don't live as long as you humans...so a few months to you, is a few years to me :( What you need to know about me is that I am an athletic guy who likes to go for lots of walks (especially with my favorite volunteers) but who is ... Rescue Me ID: 17-02-15-00190Ziri (male)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Ziri. I'm about 8 months old and I weigh about 60 lbs. My friend Apollo and I were found running in East Liverpool and we were picked up by the pound. I am a young, energetic girl. I will need a new family with the time and patience to train me as well as keeping me exercised. I am a very sweet and loving girl! I absolutely LOVE people!! I have tons of kisses to give and I love to snuggle. I get along well with most other dogs and I really like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are ... (Read More)unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.     Arianna here and I'm what you might call and older girl who is still very young at heart! I love to play and strech my legs any chance I get! If you come to meet me at the Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center, you might notice that when I bark, I have a raspy voice....that's because my voice box was damaged from wearing a collar that was too tight for too long. I'm healing up nicely though, but no more collars for me for now! The volunteers use a harness when they walk me and I don't mind putting it on at all...I also don't mind wearing cute outfits from time to time ;) So if you like older ladies with some spunk and who know how to ... Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello - meet our Beau! He is an active 2-year-old male Yorkshire/Silky Terrier mix who weighs 14 lbs. Beau is silver and tan in color. Beau was rescued from a local shelter in Ohio as a stray. When he arrived, he was ill with kennel cough which he was treated for 3 weeks and he has overcome. He had some hair loss on his back side and legs which is now coming back in, but does still have some leathery skin on the inside of his legs. This condition is called Seborrheic Dermatitis per the vet. We believe that, just like the other hair which has grown back, in due time. he will be healed completely. Beau has been neutered, updated ... (Read More)on all his vaccinations, heartworm and fecal tested (results negative) and micro-chipped. Beau was extremely timid when he first arrived and we have given him much needed time to heal from skin issues and time to feel secure in his new environment. He still has a ways to go, but he has made excellent progress. He made his first appearance at a Petco event on 2/4/17 and he seemed very comfortable being around people and having kids pet him. Beau did a wonderful job. We feel confident that he's ready to start looking for his ideal home. Beau does well on car rides and walking on a leash (he is making great progress). He gets along with other dogs at his foster home. We do not know about cats as he hasn't been around them. He will need continued help/patience on his house-training. He appears to be crate-trained. He doesn't mind wearing a belly band if needed. His ideal home would be with a couple who has older children with a fenced-in back yard. He needs a family who is willing to give him a chance to prove himself a wonderful family companion. He is a sweet fella who deserves a family of his very own to love. If you have any questions please contact the foster home at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Beau1697.html. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this pup - you can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html. (Email the foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received!) Beau just can't wait to find a forever home! Thanks!!! (Less)

Rico here! I'm in week two of being with my foster family. I no longer hide behind things and enjoy being part of the family. I get so excited when my mom comes home. I jump and play and love all over her. But I still bark at that dad guy every time he walks in the house. It's like 50 First Dates! I get along with all the dogs very well and if any growl at me I put my paw on their head to shut them up. I take my bath like a good boy, I don't chew or have accidents, I love crawling in bed and snuggling and especially love coming downstairs in the mornings to my own breakfast bowl. When too many new people come around I prefer to be in my man ... (Read More)cave. (The dining room is just for me). If anyone would like to help me get over my fear of men my mom has some videos for you. She's a little new at this. Oh and my skin is much better and I prefer food with no grain. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-31-00625Blue (female)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Blue. I'm a gorgeous cane corso (mix?) of about 2 years old and I weigh about 85 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound along with 6 of my babies. They have all found families and now it is my turn to find a family for myself! I am a very wonderful girl. I am good with adults and children. It can take me a couple of minutes to adjust to new people but I warm up nicely. I get along well with all of the other dogs I have been around here at the pound as well. My old owner did say that I need a home without cats.. I am very intelligent. I know quite a few commands and I listen pretty well. I may need a little work with ... (Read More)finishing up my potty training. It could be possible that I'm housebroken but it is very hard for me here at the shelter where I am only let outside a couple of times a day. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. ... (Read More)The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. (Less)
