Rescue Me ID: 15-03-27-00150Brock (male)

Havanese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Brock would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loyal and loving lap dog. At about 9 - 18 months old (several opinions have been in that age range) and just about 12 lbs, Brock is a very portable HavaWestie that can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and wonderful dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with sweet temperaments...as well as so very cute...end up in precarious situations. Brock was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal high-kill shelter if our kind Kansas rescuer hadn't stepped up. But ... (Read More)how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. Brock, as a young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance, socialization and group obedience classes, Brock will become a well-behaved and very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! Brock may be a bit shy initially as transport and rehoming is challenging for a young guy...but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision Brock with a retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Brock is incredibly needy ..he just loves the companionship of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. Brock has successfully been around older kids (12 and 15) but is untested with very young children. We therefore would prefer to keep Brock with older, dog-loving kids who are gentle and understanding that Brock only weighs 12 lbs and needs soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado sunshine..Brock would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people. Brock appears to be a non-shedding (or maybe a hair or 2 - we can't quite tell until his poor-nutrition shelter hair grows out) guy and will therefore will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cotton-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Brock be neutered and groomed in Kansas. This often doesn't occur due to too many dogs and too few vets and groomers in rural Kansas. If Brock arrives unfixed and matted, Farfel's is happy to cover the costs of neutering/microchipping and grooming if our Denver vet and groomer is used. Brock will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 4/2/15. If interested in this very sweet and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00569Roxxy (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Very sweet girl who needs a big yard with high fences. Roughly 14 months old, and great with kids. Doesn't get along well with other animals at first, but she got well adjusted to our pug over time. Cats probably not so much. She is exuberant, loving and house broken. Unfortunately we have not been able to give her the time and attention she needs for training and she doesn't quite understand what not to chew on/eat. She is still a puppy in that sense. Can easily jump our 5' fence and we hate to have to chain her in our small back yard. We want to find Roxxy the home she deserves.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00536Cider (male)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) West Highland terrier mix was in a high-kill shelter in Liberal, Kansas. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Cider's life and nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Cider is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Cider's Kansas foster mom to say goodbye...she knows that he will have a great life. The following is a description of Cider by his foster mom: --Cider is such a sweet guy just waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and ... (Read More)positive place. Cider had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable pup! He may very well be initially shy or frightened, but just give him a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend. Cider loves to run and play outside...he has the appropriate amount of energy for a 9-18 mo. old, 14 lb healthy pup. He would do well with a family who is home alot to hike and play with and run freely at the park - he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, he's ready to chill on the couch. Cider loves to snuggle, be petted and has been said to not get overly grumpy about grooming..we'll let you know since he desperately needs a spa day. His potentially gorgeous, non-shedding hair will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful as it can be. Cider appears to be fine with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of his smaller size. Cider has been great with my 14 and 15 year old daughters, although I haven't seen him around smaller kids, so that's an unknown. He's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for a very advanced senior. Cider is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. He has the potential to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Westie mix his forever family. Since it is difficult to have dogs neutered and groomed in rural Kansas, Farfel's would be happy to cover these costs at our Denver vet and groomer. Cider will be arriving on transport in Denver on 4/2/15. If interested in this sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00334Hanson (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Hanson is just the cutest little boy ever! He is about 13 weeks old and weighs about 6 lbs. He is a schnoodle (schnauzer toy poodle mix). Hanson was brought to the shelter because he had been hit by a car and no one wanted to pay for the medical attention. This poor puppy was just left to die. Sunshine Canyon Dog Rescue decided that we would take him into our rescue. After the vet took a look at him, they decided that they had to amputate his right from leg, so now Hanson is a cute little tripod! This does NOT stop Hanson at all from anything. He has just the cutest little puppy spirit and gets around wonderfully. His foster mom says ... (Read More)she has never had such a loving foster. Hanson loves to play, but more than anything loves to me held, snuggled, and loved. Hanson is a low-none shedding dog, so he will need regular grooming visits. Hanson gets along well with other dogs and all people. We envision Hanson in a home with a family that has lots of time and love to give him. Animal ID: 140531Pepper (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pepper is a little over 1 year old. Born Dec 08, 2014..He is a very sweet and lovable puppy who is very active and playful. He entertains himself as best he can but he really needs a larger home and yard area to work off his extra energy.. Ideally a ranch or farm would be most suited to his need where he can do what Border Collies do best.... work. I have given him all required medical treatments and care and loved him like my baby but as I am nearly 70 years old and unaware when I adopted him of how great his need for space to run and play were, I feel he needs more than I can provide for him. I am simply not strong enough to handle ... (Read More)his high energy needs. He will become destructive when this need is not met. Pepper will make a wonderful pet for any family with a home large enough to accommodate his need for exercise. I will be moving back to Florida in a few months and I will not be able to take him with me..He loves to romp and roll in the snow. I promise he will give more love and devotion than you can imagine. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00204Ginger (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ginger is very loving and playful. She loves everybody and needs lots of affection. She is generally submissive to other dogs (which is good), but dominant to people and cats. At first she was ok with my cat, but now she terrorizes the cat and has attacked her. Her biggest problem is that she does 'heeling' behaviors because she is a cattle dog (small for pb, about 35 lbs), and she often won't let someone go past her. She has bit me for trying to go past her- pretty hard, thru a sweatshirt - she wants someone to throw something for her to fetch when she does this. But anyone who doesn't know that can't get past her, she will bite their leg. ... (Read More)So she is being a Red Heeler with Pit Bull strength, and sadly I cannot keep her. She needs to be with someone who really knows how to train a pit bull. She is just now 18 mos old and has become more aggressive and stronger than when I got her. I really hope she can go to a loving owner who will play with her and train her well. She is adorable and affectionate and great with all dogs and people. (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

MILEY is a 3 year old female German Shepherd mix that has had a rough stretch. She was surrendered to a shelter after she got hit by a car and lost her tail. Then she was discovered to be 'in the family way' and even lost some of her puppies. She was adopted but has been having issues with other dogs in and outside the home (intact young female in home), reactivity with strangers (men), transitions in and out of the house and some recurring nerve pain in her tail. Positives are that she is a big baby, full of love. She does great with children and her 'mom and dad'. Miley also loves to play ball and has learned how to walk nicely on ... (Read More)leash. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00042Barney-PENDING! (male)

Norfolk Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space...then they can become a bit shy as if the world is a tentative place. With love and assurance..they quickly come back overflowing with puppy love and opportunity. We're so grateful for the efforts of the great Houston rescuers in saving Barney...they could see that his temperament was so loving that they couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Barney was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...he passed both ... (Read More)and was brought to a great Texas foster home to begin his education around house manners and socialization. It turns out that Barney, at only 16 weeks old, is so cooperative (even if a bit unsure at times) that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom to watch him blossom. He's like a blank slate...open and curious about the possibilities of the world. If Barney continues his regimen of time with loving humans and classes that promote positive relationships with other dogs as well as bonding with his people...Barney will become a well-adjusted and extremely pleasant adult companion. Barney is a gorgeous puppy with a Benji-like coat that speaks of youth and good health. His demeanor is just who he is...he appears to be just a bit more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If you are kind to Barney, he is your best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding. If Barney is treated kindly (treats and belly rubs always help) with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted adult dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Barney. Barney currently weighs 14.6 lbs (the vets anticipate him to weigh approximately 22 - 25 lbs when full-grown.) He's the perfect size to be very portable and low-maintenance enough to take along on fun adventures. We feel it's very important that Barney is provided with exercise and mental stimulation to develop into a well-adjusted companion. He will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and adventures in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy puppy in their activities. Barney appears to a be a non-shedding puppy (he is thought to be a mix of 2 non-shedding breeds according to the shelter vets)...although it's difficult to tell since he still has his baby coat. He will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his hair soft and matt-free. We always request that a dog be neutered before they arrive on transport in Boulder. Sometimes the puppy is deemed too young to be fixed. If this is the case for Barney, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for neutering and microchipping if our Denver vet is used. Barney will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/3/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00009Olivia-PENDING! (female)

Border Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Olivia at only 16 weeks old and about 22 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 40 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Olivia just in time. This sweet and engaging Terrier/Porty mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a ... (Read More)transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also incredibly beautiful...with gorgeous charcoal black hair with the purest-white chest. Olivia is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Terrier mix. She's also silly and so loving (once comfortable)...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Olivia is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Olivia finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Olivia appears to be great with children (however may be too active for very young or elderly individuals) as well, but we would prefer to place her in a home with kids 8+ that can participate in a gentle yet consistent puppy training regimen. Olivia is up to date on her vetting. She has just been microchipped, vaccinated and spayed to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Olivia is either a non-shedding or very lightly shedding puppy. It's a bit difficult to tell for certain until she loses her puppy hair and her adult coat grows in. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her very beautiful coat healthy and matt-free. Olivia will be arriving on transport in Denver on 3/27/15. If interested in this very sweet and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-24-00660Savvy (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Savvy, at only 10 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 10-12 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Kansas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Savvy just in time. This sweet and engaging Dachshund mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a ... (Read More)transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of brindle that have come out since she received a good, sudsy bath after her release from the shelter. Savvy is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Doxy mix. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Savvy is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. We're open to Savvy finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Savvy is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen. Savvy will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Kansas, however a very young puppy like Savvy is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Savvy to be spayed in Denver by our vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Savvy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/24/15. If interested in this exceptional and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Bobo Black Lab Mix Male 2 years old 55 lbs. What's happening? How're ya doing? An honor to meet you! My name is Bobo, and today I've got one heck of a bargain: Me! And as you can see - oh, wait. And what I have for you today (me!) is quite the steal! Are you ready for this? Okay, here we go'| Ya ever hear the expression a pooch with care is a pooch that's rare? I believe affection is the single greatest ingredient in life's recipe. And I've got an ocean of it! Ya ever hear the expression a ... (Read More)pooch that can learn is a pooch of low concern? I'm your hound! I may have the bad habit of jumping on counters, but nothing a little instruction from my forever family won't fix. Ya ever hear the expression a pooch that's still is a pooch with thrill? I'm not the high-energy type, nor am I keen on loud, obnoxious brouhahas or any other sort of loud noise. I'll keep it calm, cool, and collected. I like to adore, I like to learn, and I like to relax. Well, I think you get the gist as far as expressions go. Crates aren't my cup of tea, and I've done perfectly fine without them. If you've gotta leave, we don't need to fall back on the crate. As far as socializing goes, I'm in the middle of the road. Fellow hounds don't exactly daunt me, but they can be a bit overwhelming to a certain extent. I haven't been around any cats, but considering I've got an extremely high love magnitude, I'm sure there won't be anything to worry about! Same goes for children. I take my time while warming up to new people, but once I've limbered up, I'm a sweetheart. So whaddaya say, partner? Am I a catch? Oh, on the topic of catching, we can even play catch! And then we can take a nap on the couch! Thank you for listening to my spiel, and I hope that we can work together in the future! I appreciate your time! Oh! I forgot to give you my card. Norfolk Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space...then they can become a bit shy as if the world is a tentative place. With love and assurance..they quickly come back overflowing with puppy love and opportunity. We're so grateful for the efforts of the great Houston rescuers in saving Molly...they could see that her temperament was so loving and open that they couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Molly was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...she ... (Read More)passed both and was brought to a great Texas foster home to begin her education around house manners and socialization. It turns out that Molly, at only 16 weeks old, is so cooperative (even if a bit unsure at times) that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom to watch her blossom. She's like a blank slate...open and curious about the possibilities of the world. If Molly continues her regimen of time with loving humans and classes that promote positive relationships with other dogs as well as bonding with her people...Molly will become a well-adjusted and extremely pleasant adult companion. Molly is a gorgeous puppy with a Benji-like coat that speaks of youth and good health. Her demeanor is just who she is...she appears to be just a bit more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If you are kind to Molly..she is your best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding. If Molly is treated kindly (treats and belly rubs always help) with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted adult dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Molly. Molly currently weighs 14 lbs (the vets anticipate her to weigh approximately 20 lbs when full-grown.) She's the perfect size to be very portable and low-maintenance enough to take along on fun adventures. We feel it's very important that Molly is provided with exercise and mental stimulation to develop into a well-adjusted companion. She will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and adventures in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy puppy in their activities. Molly appears to a be a non-shedding girl (she is a mix of 2 non-shedding breeds according to the shelter vets)...although it's difficult to tell since she still has her puppy coat. She will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat soft and matt-free. We don't know if Molly will arrive in Boulder already having been spayed. Texas vets are sometimes hesitant to fix puppies at such a young age. If Molly arrives in Colorado unfixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for her spay as well as microchip at our Denver vet. Molly will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/3/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sochi is quite the energetic pup - a Siberian Husky mixed with an Australian Cattle Dog - this boy is built like a tank! When we first saw a picture of Sochi, he was in a kennel in a shelter without much of a future. We brought him into rescue, placed him into a foster home, and have they been entertained! He gets along very well with the other Huskies in the foster home, both male and female. He is the youngest and the smallest - but it doesn't slow him down at all. He is a very dark red color with white, and has loving brown eyes. We are estimating him to be approximately 13-months old. Sochi received his name when he came to us ... (Read More)during the recent Olympic games that were held in Sochi, Russia. Sochi has recently been neutered, and is up-to-date on Rabies and necessary vaccinations, is Heartworm negative, and has been microchipped. Sochi will need to be in a home with another canine companion that is close to his size and meets the same energy level that he has. He can run and play for hours and then take a nap and start all over again! We will also be looking for a home that has a secure fenced yard that will keep Sochi safe. It is best that there not be any small or toy breeds in the home - or cats! This pup will bring plenty of entertainment to your pack! If you are interested in adopting Sochi - please visit our web site to read our adoption process and then complete the adoption application. This is a required step for anyone interested in adopting a Siberian Husky. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-23-00022Kale (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Kale is one of those guys that got caught in an overcrowded and dreary high-kill shelter through no fault of his own. It's so difficult for any particular puppy to stand out and get the acknowledgement for a great temperament (and being so very handsome with a shining white coat with the adorable chocolate markings.) - and therefore get spared from euthanasia. As you might imagine...Kale must have been SO very special. He was recognized for the exceptional puppy he is and efforts were put forth to insure his safety and ultimate adoption. He would be a dream come true for anyone who enjoys the fun and silly personality of the Jack Russell ... (Read More)combined with the very intelligent and playful personality of the PBGV. Kale's foster mom had the following to say about this gorgeous guy: Kale has been at my house for a few days now and he's getting happier and zanier as he grows more comfortable. He only barks or yips when he's by himself and lonely..but he's learning that we're not abandoning him and will return. Being just a baby, Kale loves his chew toys. He also really enjoys play with other dogs He'd be perfect if he's paired with another young dog or puppy to go a little crazy with..and then it's sleep-time cuddling up on his favorite dog bed. Kale hasn't met any young children yet, but he's great with my women friends who have come by.. so loving and sweet! Kale is a calm yet playful young puppy who really doesn't have a single negative trait that I've noticed at this early age. He's a lovebug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and so sweet! He's learning to be great in the house and has been quite trustworthy for a baby. Kale's lucky new family is getting a true gem! Farfel's Rescue was contacted to help find this wonderful guy the greatest home possible..he deserves the love and respect of a forever family. Kale is an exceptional doll baby (words of his foster mom) that is 4 months old and 12 lbs. (The vets anticipate Kale to be approximately 18 lbs when full-grown). He's such a great size...large enough to be able to enjoy the trails of Colorado with his new family yet compact enough to take just about anywhere. He'll be the perfect size to be the most cuddly lap dog around! We envision this super-loving puppy either in an adult household who choose to spend lots of time with a fuzzy best friend. Like all puppies, Kale will benefit from group obedience classes to set positive boundaries for this happy-go-lucky guy. Kale would be overjoyed with the company of other gentle young dogs. He would be so excited with the playtime and then at day's end, would be the greatest snuggler ever. Kale is so good-natured and respectful that he would be a great companion to be out and about with. Kale has been in a foster home in Texas while waiting for his transport to Denver (his great behavior and sweet nature earned him this ticket). He has been working on his home and socialization skills and we're so proud of his progress. Kale is a guy who will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat (with the most adorable markings) healthy, very shiny and cottony-soft. Kale will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/3/15 Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. I currently know sit, jump, hug (my favorite - I will let you know when I want a hug too), shake, and go to bed. I love playing with other dogs but I am a little unsure of adult men - I was abused in the past and take some time to warm up. Goose is a good dog with great energy. He will try to be the dominant one so he needs someone that can be firm with him. Goose is more a visual learner and likes physical cues when being told to sit, jump, etc. He knows he has to have the ... (Read More)'OK' to eat, leave the house, and enter the house. He is potty trained but he still makes the occasional mistakes; after all, he still is a puppy. I think he would really enjoy a place with a backyard! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-22-00163Farley (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely sweet and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their temperaments, intelligence and extremely loving ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and be very loving with family members and other family pets. Since this breed mix requires a certain amount of exercise and love being with their people...if a hike or outdoor fun is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their ... (Read More)favorite humans and canines. Farley is a beautiful and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Shepherd while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Golden. He will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As Farley loses the old coat of his shelter days (as he's given the gift of a great diet), his coat will grow in shining (with his beautiful markings) and less likely for lots of shedding. Farley's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Farley's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his body ending in a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Farley goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Farley is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. He's just a puppy at only 5 - 6 months old (he currently weighs 33 lbs - the vets anticipate his adult weight to be approximately 50 lbs) but seems to have more wisdom than most puppies. He's so kind and wants to be the very best-behaved guy around. With the help of group obedience classes with his family creating kind boundaries, Farley will acquire the skills to be an excellent companion out in the community and in the home. Farley tends to be a bit more introspective than most puppies. He seems to have left behind the lack of love and commitment that made up his early life and is ready to love with all his heart. His time spent in a high-kill shelter with -Euthanasia Pending- on his cage didn't deprive Farley of his hope that someday a special family would choose him. He was being put to sleep because he had baby dermatitis due to fleas and filth...but in the end, his great temperament prevailed...and through the repeated efforts of Texas rescuers, Farley earned his ticket to Colorado. Since leaving the shelter, Farley has become a very huggable ball of good-will with downy hair replacing the bald spots he used to have. We would like to see Farley in a home that includes him in time and activities...he will thrive with those that truly loves him and consider him a very important part of the family. Farley would be an exceptional companion for retirees or families with older kids (no tail-pulling or riding on please) who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable and kind guy. Long hikes and backyard fun would truly speak to the nature of this amazing pup. Farley doesn't require another dog to be happy (he really loves his people)...but does enjoy his canine relationships with fun and gentle dogs. Farley will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/3/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and endearing companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302 (Less)

Since Addi won't shed her coat, she'll require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her stunning white and chocolate-colored hair healthy and matt-free.. Addi's Texas foster mom sent us the following report on sweet Addi: Addi has to be the the most endearing dog ever! She greets me in the morning with the cutest sit up/beg pose and holds it quite some time, although I've never asked her to. She's very politely asking for breakfast. I also have to brag about how great she is in her crate! Addi is completely crate trained and doesn't make a peep during the night. (full disclosure, she's great with open wire kennel, a bit hesitant when I put her in a closed travel crate although that could just be because it smells like my cat, Sophie). ;o) Addi is a wirehaired Jack Russell Terrier/Miniature Dachshund mix, also known as Jackshund (in other words, she's a stunning designer dog, teehee)! Addi weighs 11.9 lbs. and has a calm, gentle nature and always sweet personality. She gets along famously with my senior 80 lb. Smooth Coat Collie and young, energetic 14 lb. Miniature Poodle and is very polite with my cats. In other words she's perfect and I'd never let her go if my husband didn't put his foot down at 5 pets! Addi is the greatest companion I've ever fostered! She perks up when she sees me get her leash as she loves to go for short walks. She engages with everyone and behaves herself like a champion. Addi is completely housetrained...truly perfect! She will potty outdoors on or off leash and would never consider being disrespectful of her home environment! What can I say...Addi is a dream-dog..no kidding! She is a perfect companion, loves to be in your lap but never-ever needy. She will steal your heart (and the hearts of your family) instantly. I only ask that she be loved completely. No dog ever deserved it more! Our rescue assessment of sweet Addi is that her kind nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Addi is very outgoing and social and that means everyone she meets ultimately becomes a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Addi's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Addi goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Addi is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Terriers/Doxies. At about 9 - 12 months old and just about 10 - 12 lbs, she seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. Addi has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Addi in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Addi would be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup or a family with gentle dog-loving kids. Addi doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Addi will arrive on transport in Boulder on 4/3/15. If interested in this sweet and very loyal companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

HI! My name is Peetie and I am a very sweet Maltipoo who is about 4 years old and I weigh 6.5 pounds. My family, who lived in a dilapidated trailer, moved away and left me and 2 of my friends to starve to death confined in a fence. Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Wheaten Terrier/Schnauzer mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets...and since they require a certain amounts of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a hike is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Annie is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl who favors the coat and intellect of the Schnauzer while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Wheaten Terrier. She appears to be a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy. As she loses the old hair of her shelter days, Annie's coat will grow in shining and less likely to shed. Annie's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Annie is outgoing and social and that means everyone she meets ultimately becomes a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Anniei's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Annie goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Anniei is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Terriers. At about 11/2-2 years old and 31 lbs, she seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. Annie has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Annie in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Annie would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Annie doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Annie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 3/27/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Howdy ya'll, I'm Josey! I'm a female Australian Cattle Dog and Border Collie blend and weigh about 40lbs. I'm only 3 years old, but I'm very affectionate, super smart, and housebroken. I'm big enough to run and play and corral, but I'm small enough to snuggle and lay on your lap. I love to walk on a leash with my foster family and I love people, especially kids. I also get along with other friendly doggies and like riding around in the car. I was very sick with something called heartworms, but thanks to my foster family, I'm completely healthy again! Now I'm looking for my forever home so I can have a family of my own to love and have fun ... (Read More)with who will love me back and take care of me for the rest of my life.     Zak was found tied on a chain outside after his family had moved and left him behind. He has come a long way from when he first came into the rescue! His foster family has been working on basic manners and socialization with him. He has a very strong connection with his people and prefers to be right next to you. Although I was picked up as a stray in Fort Morgan, I am definitely, absolutely a trained family dog. You wouldn't believe how surprised my foster mom was when I made myself right at home in my new crate, was polite and sweet ... (Read More)on walks, and enjoyed sunbathing on the deck like any good Colorado family boy should. Basic commands are all down pat, I love other dogs, and I'm right at home by your side, whether we're in for the night with Netflix or out on the road together chasing adventure in the family minivan. As for kiddos, I haven't had a chance to spend time up-close and personal with them, but if my other preferences are any indication, we'd fall in love. I've had a few years to develop my cat-like reflexes and can go from full-on nap to 110% playtime in the squeak of a toy bone, sure to impress the youngsters in the house. Just wait, you'll see - it's NOT too good to be true! It's just me, Pepper!! Does your pack need a little pep? Rescue Me ID: 15-03-19-00590Scooby and Lucky (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello everyone! I have two sweet little Chihuahua mixes (mixed with Pugs, I believe) who need a loving home...preferably together! The older pup, Scooby, is about 9 years old, and the younger, Lucky, is about 2 years old. They are very well behaved, and very sweet. They have very few naughty habits - one likes to roll in things (but is very well-behaved in the tub, LOL), and the other loves to...lick feet (I'm very ticklish, so yes, I consider this naughty LOL). Otherwise, they do very well, like other animals, learn very quickly, are potty trained, and are good at keeping themselves occupied with toys and chews. They are not picky ... (Read More)eaters; however, they are currently on a grain-free food because we suspect Scooby may have allergies. They have no health issues, as far as we know, and I can provide vaccine records since they are currently up-to-date for Rabies, Distemper, and Bordatella. They are up for adoption because they were relinquished by their owner after spending 7 months at our kennel and wracking up a several-thousand dollar bill. If you have any questions, please contact me at motleyk88@aol.com and I will gladly provide more pictures/videos. The rehoming fee is $100 dollars, simply to recompensate myself for the food, harnesses, brush, leash, treats, and the chews I bought them, all of which would be given to the new owner (except the chews; they ate those!).     Joe is a wonderful, sweet and loving dog. He has been around cats and kids for three years, but gets a little nervous if there is more than one young child around. His main goal in life is to be as close to you as possible. Joe is totally house-trained and does great at home alone. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-19-00473Kacey (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Kacey the Border Collie/Australian Shephard mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In this photo, you're not aware of the darkest charcoal black and whitest of white that run through his gorgeous coat. It is with grooming, care and great nutrition that Kacey's coat will show its gorgeous colors. Everything is new to Kacey...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Kacey is next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Kacey ... (Read More)comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. Once he's assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close. This 8-10 month old, 45 lb (anticipated adult weight 50-55 lbs--what a perfect size for a Colorado dog!) Border Collie mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Kacey is doing very well at mastering house training skills...quite an accomplishment for a rescue pup! Kacey is such a people dog. He loves kids of all ages but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Kacey with an active retired couple or individual or a family with older kids who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his family. Being a Border Collie/Aussie, Kacey loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes and agility class. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please, he would excel. He would also be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Kacey can have a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. His nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over. Kacey will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, shiny and matt-free. In fulfilling our commitment to zero population growth, Farfels is happy to cover all costs for neutering and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Kacey will be arriving on transport from Kansas on Tuesday 3/24/15. If interested in this exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Cub Basenji/Boston Terrier mix Female 10 months old 25 lbs. Ooohh, aren't I cute? My foster mama says that I remind her of a wild baby bear, so she named me Cub. You'd think I was all business 'cause I can be reserved with new people (probably the Basenji in me coming out), but I'm really a lovebug once I get to know you. I could just cuddle all day long - and trust me, once you get to cuddling this kid, you're not gonna want to stop! The only thing that could get my cute tushy off the couch (naps are pretty much the best invention ever) is a good game of tug-o-war with my doggy friends. I would love to be in a family with another dog so I ... (Read More)can learn more about playing and leaping and being just plain goofy. I do get a little selfish when it comes to my bones and food, though, so I will probably need to eat separately until I learn some manners. Also, you gotta know that kitties just aren't in the cards for me - I like them a little too much and might start to chase. Kiddos are okay, but maybe just the bigger ones. I'm still trying to figure everything out and can be nervous around new things (you should have seen me try to figure out those dang stairs), so wobbly, toddly little kids are probably too much for me. I would really do best with a patient, loving family who can take the time to learn my secret language of ear twitching (I know, so cool! You can tell what I'm thinking just by watching the way my ears twitch!) and help me overcome my shyness. I'm already pretty much potty-trained and great at sleeping in my crate, but I will need you to teach me some more doggy manners since I'm still a pup. If you think you're ready for this much love and cuteness and up for helping me become my best self, then please send an e-mail to adopt@pawscoadoptions.org and fill out an adoption application on the website. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-17-00101Finn-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable pup. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that is dismal and quickly runs out of space. This is the situation that Finn was put into at just about 12 months old. It's not unusual to see opportunistic breeding with Golden/Labs ...and if all doesn't go perfectly...out they go into the street or to a high-kill shelter. Such was the case with Finn. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Finn...she could see that his temperament was so loving and sweet that she couldn't ... (Read More)allow him to be euthanized. He was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested - and was pronounced a healthy guy with an extremely sweet and lovable personality. It turns out that Finn, at only about 1 year old, is so wonderful and cooperative that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. She reported to us that Finn is absolutely a lovebug and very social and well-adjusted in every way. She described his personality as typically Golden...sweet and so lovable while being active and playful in a very positive way. She describes Finn as a just about perfect family companion that's a natural for Colorado. He will be overjoyed with hiking and loving the outdoors with his favorite people. Like most Goldens, Bentley is extremely loyal and very in love with those who are kind and and loving to him. He's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Finn continues to be properly socialized, he will become a well-adjusted and devoted adult companion. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-behaved dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Finn. Since he will be approximately 45 lbs when full-grown (just a perfect medium size for hiking Colorado trails), we also feel it's very important that Finn is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He will be a perfect size to enjoy an active lifestyle.. playing and snowshoeing (he'd love that) in the Colorado mountains. We'd also be thrilled with a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. It's wonderful that there are no worries about Finn in the home...he appears to be almost perfectly housetrained and respectful of human's possessions. Finn also has so much fun the car and lies quietly while looking forward to the great adventures that await him. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Finn will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 3/20/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BRONSON is a 5 year old Lab/Collie mix that was at risk because of overcrowding, a respiratory infection and dermatitis. We are treating his medical issue, but you can't cure the stupidity that caused this WONDERFUL boy to wind up in a big city shelter. Bronson does not care to be around rowdy children, so I can only imagine what he was subjected to before. This boy will make someone a terrific companion. He walks great on leash and is treat motivated, so the rest should be a piece of cake. Bronson is neutered, up to date on shots, chipped and heartworm negative. Adoption fee $150. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-17-00008Butterscotch (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix with perhaps just a touch of Terrier) in a high-kill Texas shelter. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Butterscotch's life and has nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Butterscotch is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for his foster mom to say goodbye...she knows that Butterscotch will have a life of joy and the love of a committed family. The following is a description of Butterscotch by his foster mom: --Butter is such a sweet puppy just ... (Read More)waiting to blossom. I've truly enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. He had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable and well-loved pup! Butterscotch may be initially shy, but just give him a moment and you'll have a new best friend. Butter loves to run and play outside...he has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 7 - 8 month old, 25 lb healthy pup. We anticipate Butterscotch to be about 38 - 40 or so lbs when full-grown...the perfect medium size pup! Butter would do well with a family who is home alot to hike and play with and run joyfully through the mountain trails or at the park - he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, Butter's ready to chill on the couch. He loves to snuggle, be petted and doesn't get overly grumpy about anything really..Butter is extremely even-tempered. As well as a very even personality, Butter is also incredibly beautiful! I know it's very hard to tell from this sad shelter photo, but Butter has the most beautiful, expressive eyes I've ever seen! His gorgeous, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding...it's still a little early to tell exactly what his adult coat will be like) hair will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful and as shed-free as possible. Butterscotch is always fine and pleasant with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of the fact that he is still learning. He loves to have fun and sometimes an older dog just doesn't want to play. As far as people..Butter has been absolutely great with my 12 and 15 year old daughters and me!! I haven't seen him around small kids, so that's an unknown. He's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for an advanced senior. Butter is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for an active family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. He has the potential to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion..particularly after positive reinforcement group obedience classes that are great for every puppy! Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Schnoodle a loving and committed forever family. Butterscotch will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 3/20/15. If interested in this sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered

Ricker here, glad you stopped by! Looking for an awesome, friendly, playful, smart, gentle, lap dog, who might lovingly grunt from time to time? You clicked on the right profile then, because that's me in a nutshell! I am super lovable and like to spread it around equally among everyone. I come to a whistle (cool hey?), and know the commands Sit and No. I love treats, especially chewy ones, and always take them so gently! My food motivation may help me learn new things quickly and easily. I have foster siblings who I love running outside with, and I tend to enjoy chewing on things - I may have been caught chewing a shoe or two, which is when ... (Read More)my knowledge of the word No comes in handy! I love being petted, enjoy car rides, and if you like quirkiness, I've got a great one for you! I like to lick ears - human ears, dog ears, absolutely no preference. Check my photo gallery for my cute 'frog leg' pose - this is my favourite comfy laying down position. I have some injuries to my face and neck, which are souvenirs from my life as a stray. Also, I am submissive around large dogs, until I get to know them. Well, we are at the end of my bio, so I guess it's time to set up a meet and greet! If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an online app today! Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs

Hi! Marty's my name, loving and sweet is my game! Oh, and treats, those are also my game. I will sit so nicely for them, and take them gently. Did I mention kissing? Ya, that's my game too - love giving them, love getting them! I am already crate trained, and would love to get more training, and learn about obedience from a patient, doting, dog-loving, person or family. Let me tell you a little about my whirlwind life of late.... the first thing that happened (also the most amazing event of my life), was when the wonderful people at ARR rescued me from a shelter. Whew, safe at last! Then, my luck just kept on coming, when a kind and loving ... (Read More)lady agreed to foster me. She's still getting to know me, so my bio might change as I settle into life and the routines of a home - this is new territory for me! I have two giant foster dog sisters, who are known as 'The Dane Girls.' I have never had real playmates before, and want so badly to play with them. Sadly, they are not terribly interested in me. I'll keep trying, I'm sure I can win their affection - my charm knows no end. There is also a small furry animal in a boy's bedroom which completely throws me for a loop. The door to that room is now closed, to prevent me from barking at the critter. That's the only time my foster mom has ever heard me bark, and she's wondering if I might do better without small animals in the house. I'm settling into the good life, and learning what is expected of me as part of a family, in a real home. I feel like the luckiest dog on the planet! Are you aready to keep my string of good luck going? I'd love to be part of an active family, and a dog sibling would be fantastic! Adopt me, I'm really sweet.     Hi, my name is Rachet and I am one of the sweetest dogs on the planet! I am a special needs dog because the vet thinks that my mom accidentally squished my head a bit when I was a puppy. The photo isn't blurry, my face is just a little crooked from the accident but it hasn't affected my personality. I love everyone and just live for attention from people. I do ok around other dogs but I would prefer to be the only dog in the home because I don't like to share my people.     My Mom rescued Bailey as a puppy two years ago. Since that time, my Mom's health condition has deteriorated and sadly, Bailey has become too much for my Mom to handle. Please help us find Bailey a forever fun loving home. Bailey is energetic, curious, loving, and full of life. She deserves her freedom to run and explore, to be loved and cuddled. She is kind-hearted, sweet, adorable, and good with people. She is not as good with cats, though, as she wants to chase them. She loves the outdoors, running free, and she has so much energy, curiosity and excitement. She will shake a paw before her food or treat, and will sit on command. She is ... (Read More)eager to learn and please a loving and attentive owner. Since she was a puppy, she has been around an older female border collie and they play well together. She is house and crate trained, current on her shots, and spayed. Vet records indicate she is a lab-mix. Her head resembles a pit bull and her body is lean like a lab. She has been through a lot of changes recently and has held up well. The main challenge since her initial transition out of my Mom's home has been that she jumped a 5' fence with ledges. I was happy to find that after jumping, she made her way back to the house on her own. While Bailey is only two years old and in transition, some basic training will be good for her and her new owner. We want to find her the great home that she deserves, and would love to find a ranch, farm, or a home with land for her to run and enjoy life with people that will forever love her. (Less)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Little Button got her name because she is just as cute as a little button. Button weighs only 4.5 lbs and is 5 1/2 years old. Button was a lost little stray in Texas, when she was hit by a car and left to die. A nice woman found her laying on the side of the road and brought her to the shelter to get the medical attention she needed. unfortunately, the shelter was so crowded, and funds were so low they had no choice but to euthanize her, unless a rescue spoke up for her. Sunshine Canyon Dg rescue just could not turn down that little face! A rescue is Texas helped us get all the medical work done and now she is here is CO just waiting ... (Read More)for her forever home. Due to the car accident, Button had her back left leg amputated, but that has not stopped her from being a little wiggly bundle of love. She has adapted very well and healed perfectly. Button is one of those dogs that is fine just laying on your lap with you all day and relaxing. She is what we call a 'velcro dog'. She likes to be with you all the time. She is okay being alone, but when you are home, she follows you around the house and wants to be with you constantly. She was potty trained in Texas, but is having a little trouble here since the snow is so new to her, and its way too cold on her little toes, but her foster mom has no doubt that once the snow clears up it will be okay! Button is just the sweetest little girl, and has no issues with any humans or dogs, all she wants is to be carried around and snuggled. We see button best in a home with a retired couple, or someone who is more low key, and wants to just snuggle all day. If you think button is the right dog for you, please email us at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, I am Little One, a sweet, mellow, independent, non-barky (silent in fact) Chihuahua. I like to think of myself as a refined gentleman. For example, if I see squirrels or kids running outside, or if guests come to the home, I just silently observe, instead of getting all worked up and hyper. I very much like to hang out with you in the same room keeping you company, or follow you around, but I always give you plenty of foot room, never getting underfoot. I'm a little shy and will observe you from a distance at first, but when I get to know you, I am friendly and sweet and enjoy being petted - especially on my head, and belly rubs! If I ... (Read More)know you, I will also let you pick me up. I hop up onto the couch occasionally and will do short lap visits (5 minutes or less), and then I prefer to find my cozy dog bed (in the same room) to lay half-in/half-out - it's quite the pose, check the photo in my gallery! I don't really play, but I do like the companionship of my person and my foster siblings, who are small like me. I have a foster sister who is also a Chihuahua, and I adore being with her all the time. I also have some cat siblings who I am great with, while we hang out, sniffing one another. If you have a cat or another small dog who would like company, but not necessarily a playmate, sign me up! If you work from home, I will keep you company, but won't keep you from doing your work. Key words: independent, quiet, refined. My foster mom is training me to do tricks for treats! I have learned Come, Sit, and am currently working on Stay. She says I am very smart and learn quickly. I am potty trained, and even do great when it's cold and snowy outside - won't even bat an eye! Since I arrived un-neutered, I seem to mark in the house every 4-5 days. I'm getting a belly band training aid, so hopefully that will help me. When I am crated and my people leave the house, I might make a little fuss, because I'd really much rather have you stay home with me. At night, I do well in my crate, which sits right beside my foster Mom's bed. I'm quite attached to my foster Mom, so I think that's a pretty sweet deal! When I'm outside my crate with my people all day, I don't make a peep - my foster mom is amazed at how silent a dog can be! I do ride in my crate for car rides, and travel along just fine with only a couple of complaints. Although I have low exercise needs, I am a strong dog and a great hiking partner. I enjoy long trail walks with the other 3 dogs in my home, and have no problem keeping up despite being only 9 pounds atop cute, short, chi legs! My tail wags happily as you get me ready for walks, and I must wear a mesh harness to protect me from choking myself, as I pull a little too hard on my neck. Not a big deal for you since I am so little, but I can be a danger to my own self! When rabbits and squirrels are close by, I love the chase game, but once they are out of reach/sight, I snap right out of it, like I completely forget they were ever there. I have beautiful white teeth, and I love canned dog food the best! Dry kibble is ok for occasional treats. I also love cheese and am a smart little guy who can be taught. I'm gradually relaxing in my foster home, and although grooming necessities like having tear stains around my eyes cleaned are not on my list of favourite things to do, I suspect this will change as I relax. I would not do well in a chaotic, busy home life, as a high energy environment would make me nervous and I will tend to just back off and not seek any attention, and that just spells loneliness, which neither you or I want! I will observe you from a distance for a while before I get to know you, and once I feel secure with you, I am a real love. I would thrive in a calm, quiet home with people who like regular walks, easy hikes, and who are willing to leave me outside the crate. I would also thrive with other low energy (non-playing) small dogs or cats, as I really adore the female chi in my house and seek her out to be together. Someone home most of the time would be ideal as well so I can be your buddy. I don't ask for much or require a lot of attention from people, I'll be your best dog friend, without being clingy. I'm a silent mellow marshmallow. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an online app today! Adoption fee is $175 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed

I'm a pretty girl named Princess, and arrived at foster care feeling somewhat reserved and shy. That was a few days ago, and I'm already starting to come out of my shell and learning to trust my people. I am hesitant and initially shy away when they reach out to pet me, but I accept the attention and affection when I realize there is no intent to harm me. Would you believe it's OK for me to cuddle with my fosters and the other two dogs on the couch? I feel like a member of the family, I feel loved, it's really wonderful! My fosters believe I was abused previously because of my apprehensiveness. I am very energetic and love to play with ... (Read More)squeaky tennis balls, the Kong, and my two foster siblings. I feel like I'm really getting spoiled here, because I get all sorts of healthy foods and treats. I am fed separately from the other dogs as a precaution, but I never demonstrate any food aggression, and always take treats very gently. I know some commands, Come, Sit, and Off, and am ALMOST potty trained - my foster estimates a few days and I'll have it mastered. I go in and out through a doggie door just great, and am crate and leash trained. With the appropriate motivators (food/treats), and praise, I will learn quickly. I am also not a barker. I'm still a young pup, so when I'm happy to see my people, or excited, I do the ranger crawl. I have also been known to entertain myself by romping, bucking, and throwing my boys in the air and chasing after them, if my siblings don't want to play. My fosters think this is just hysterical!     Hi, my name is Abbott and I am a beautiful brindle Cane Corso/Pit mix. I am a dominant personality with other dogs and I would do better in a single dog home. Although I like to play with other dogs it has gotten me in trouble in the past and I prefer just to be with my people. I was in a family with older children before and I loved all the attention.     The story of Bear and Moose is becoming all too common in today's world. They were the beloved companions of a woman who passed away and left no arrangements for her bonded Pug pair. She had them since they were babies and the only option appeared to be for the pair to be transferred to a high-kill shelter. Moose is so cute with his little smoosh face! (These photos don't come close to doing either of these these amazing guys justice) Moose is a 6.5 YO pug mix who is just as sweet as can be. Bear is also a 6.5 YO pug mix with the cutest ears and face. The relatives hoped that the pups would not have to go to a shelter...we couldn't have ... (Read More)agreed more! Sad goodbyes were said and the boys were on their way to be vetted, temperament tested and to a foster home to be loved and given lots of belly rubs. It turns out that the boys are housetrained with the kind of great temperaments that would be perfect with adults, gentle children, and dogs...just perfect family companions! They have been in the foster home for about 3 weeks now are really starting to come out of their shells. At first they were so confused and frightened. They just wanted to go home and did not understand what had happened, but with love and patience they started to feel at ease. They love each other so much and it is very important that they find a loving home together. The foster mama says they follow each other around the house, and look to each other for guidance through this hard time. They love to snuggle with their humans, and get little wiggly butts when they get excited. They do get along very well with other dogs, but they prefer to stick together, and let the other dogs do their own thing. These two babies have the typical easy going, relaxed personality of a pug. All they want is to be loved and snuggled. They are such easy going, great dogs and deserve to have nothing but the best here in CO.
