Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Gambit Border Collie / Great Pyrenees mix Male 2 years old 82 lbs. Did you know that Great Pyrenees make really good doggy ninjas? It's true! For instance, while I - a handsome, adoptable Pyrenees/Collie mix - always start out sleeping next to my foster family's bed, I use my super ninja skills to end up sleeping in the bed, cuddled up with my humans. Very sneaky of me, yes? Gambit's the name and being near people is my game! The awesome folks at PawsCo are helping me find a forever home that can fit all 82 lbs. of my pure love. Not a lot is known about my past, but that doesn't bother me one bit! I focus on living and loving in the ... (Read More)present. Dogs, cats, kids, treats - I love them all (especially the treats). You should have seen me at the Denver Pet Expo! I was a star! I mean, how often do you combine the gorgeous multi-color coat of a Border Collie with the size and mellow attitude of a Pyrenees? Similar to my unique X-Men namesake, I steal hearts wherever I go. Since I do not have a ton of experience living in a house, I would love a family with the time and patience to help me become the best canine citizen possible. I have already mastered the basics, such as which bathroom is mine (the outside one!). Pleasing my people is my absolute favorite thing in the world, so I bet that I would be amazing at learning exciting tricks, especially if you motivate me with one or two or twelve treats. Hey, I'm a big guy! So if you are looking for a body-pillow in the form of a fluffy, lovable dog, look no further! Just send the folks at PawsCo an email at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application on their website. I can't wait to meet ya! (Less)

Gus Labrador Retriever mix Male 1 year old 60 lbs. Hey you! Are looking for a big lug who loves affection? Pick me! I'm Gus, a 1-year-old Lab mix. I'm super friendly and easygoing. My foster mom says I remind her of Goodwill Hunting-era Matt Damon - and EVERYONE loves Matt Damon! The wonderful people at PawsCo rescued me from a shelter in Kansas with three other canine friends. Speaking of canine friends, I get along with them just great! I'm even friendly with cats and kiddos. I'm looking forward to finding a forever home with anyone who will show me love and affection and maybe even let me sleep at the foot of the bed (a guy can dream ... (Read More)right?!). In order to become a stellar member of the household, I could use some help learning new commands. So far, my foster parents have taught me to 'sit', and they are working on showing me how to ride nicely in the car so I can join them on adventures! I'm potty-trained and respectful of your household things. Crates are a bit intimidating to me, so I prefer free roam of the house if you have to leave me, but of course, I prefer that you don't! Being left alone is tough for me at first, but I do calm quickly. I'm eager to please and a very fast learner, I just need the right family to help me gain even more confidence as I grow older! If you're looking for social guy who loves to give and receive affection, I'd like to meet you! Please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application today! (Less)

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Boo, at only 14 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 12 - 14 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Boo just in time. Boo is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new ... (Read More)life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with the purest of white and striking caramel that have come out since he received a good, sudsy bath after his release from the shelter. We'll post a photo of the clean and gorgeous Boo just as soon as we get one. Boo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart...very typical of the cross of a Doxie and a Beagle. He's bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Boo is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - he would form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Boo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Boo loves gentle children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent puppy training regiment. Boo is considered to be a bit too young to neuter in Texas. He will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations and Farfel's will be happy to cover payment for Boo's neuter and microchip in Denver if our vet is used. Boo will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and kind companion and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.     Stanley Heeler mix Male 4 years old Do you love 'Winnie the Pooh'? (Who doesn't?!) Then perhaps you'll love me as well! My foster mom says I'm just like Pooh Bear because I'm sweet and cuddly and everyone loves me! The wonderful people at PawsCo rescued me from a shelter in Kansas. I came in with burnt paws from spending too much time walking and standing on hot concrete, but I've recovered nicely and am otherwise healthy, happy and excited about finding a forever home where I can get lots of love! As Pooh says, you don't spell love - you feel it! And I got that lovin' feeling! I think people are fantastic, and I'm happy to roll over ... (Read More)for a belly scratch when I meet someone new, even if I'm in the middle of a walk! I'm a mellow guy and after I get some exercise, I'm perfectly content to snooze all day and let my human companions pet me. I don't have an aggressive bone in my body (my foster parents haven't even heard me bark!), but I'm not too sure about kids. I haven't spent much time with them, so I may just need to learn how they work. I think other canines and cats are just OK - they don't bother me, but I much prefer the company of humans. I know some basic commands and I'm potty trained. I'm not crate-trained. Instead, I prefer free roam of the house when you're gone, but I'm also a really fast learner so it will be easy to teach me what I can and cannot do in the house!     Andre Labrador Retriever/Mastiff Mix Male 2 years old 60 lbs. Pleased to meet you, sirs and madams! I'm Andre, and I'll be your guide today. We take manners seriously around here; I'll politely ask that you remain on the path and follow the assigned route. I'm very experienced in my position as Head Tour Guide, so if you have any questions or would like to see any of my tricks, please just raise your hand and I'll call on you. My background in tennis ball chasing began when I was just a pup, and I'm proud to say that I've become quite the dog toy expert. Although I'm a youngster, I'm exceptionally smart and learn quickly - how many dogs ... (Read More)do you know who will listen when you ask them to go 'slow' ... and actually do it!? That's me, Andre the Giant (giant smartypants, that is)! I'm quite the love bug - affectionate and SUPER happy snuggling with my family. However I should mention that I'm not a huge fan of new people coming into my space. I am more interested in spending quiet time with the people I love. Strangers in my domain make me a little uneasy. My foster family describes me as quite possibly the most snugglicious dog they've ever met - and I don't mind sounding like a big teddy bear. I'm smart, loving with my family, and I enjoy hanging with new dogs when I can play with them outside my own space. I have pretty high standards for my own house, but if you take me to doggie daycare, where I don't have to play tour guide, I will let loose and be my goofball self! I'm hoping to find a family looking for the strong, silent type who really can appreciate the depth of my love - it doesn't come out in large crowds or at big parties. I'm a family man - smart and obedient, but serious about keeping a close eye on my humans. My favorite thing is to just snuggle up after a good long play session and show my family how much I love them. Are you looking for a 'still waters run deep' kind of guy to join your pack? Let's set up a meeting and I'll show off some of my tricks. I hope we'll be a match. Email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org to set up a date! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-20-00003Edgar (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Beagle lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable breeds. This is due to their consistently great temperaments and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their silky-soft coats with the gorgeous markings and their soft and expressive eyes. Edgar is an unusually striking Beagle with chocolate and golden touches shining through his coat..gorgeous! Edgar is 9 - 12 months old and just about 25 lbs... and so kind and waggy with all the dogs and humans that he got temperament tested with. He seems to have overcome any ill feelings and appears ... (Read More)to be at peace regarding the challenges of his early life. The Beagle mix is a solid combination both physically and in stability of temperament. It is for this reason that they seem to acclimate and be outstanding family members no matter their past lives. It's safe to say that Edgar has learned to live in harmony with every kind of being...he seems to have derived a true calmness and peace from overcoming the trials of his previous life. We feel strongly that Edgar's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Edgar will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so gorgeous both inside and out that he deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for committed retirees or a family with older children (12+) who spend lots of time at home as a forever situation for Edgar. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Edgar reportedly had very little car experience prior to his rescue'|.now he's growing to be a champ. This skill is easily worked with through crating and treats...especially as he gets the idea that a car ride can mean a walk, a hike or a fun day at a dog-friendly spot with his favorite people and dogs. We feel that Edgar would enjoy the company of a fun dog-friend (or cat..he seems to have no problem accepting them) but it's not mandatory for his happiness...it's more the companionship of a truly loving guardian. Edgar will return this loyalty and devotion a thousand times over. Edgar will develop a stunning coat over a short period of time...through sudsy baths, consistent brushing and great nutrition..Edgar will proudly strut his stuff and show off the amazing markings on his beautiful and healthy Beagle coat . Edgar will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This wonderful little girl was rescued through Rez Dawg Rescue (www.rezdawgsrescue.org) from a high kill shelter in Gallup, NM. She is around 20-25 lbs, fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed), and living in foster care. She is doing well with potty training and gets along with other dogs. I think she would prefer a house that does not have children currently but could be good with them one day. She was said to be very shy and timid by shelter staff but once I approached her slowly and gave her 5 minutes to get used to me, she was licking my face, asking for pats and following me everywhere.     Penelope Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull mix Female 10 years old 47 lbs. Hello there! First things first - my name is Penelope, or Penny for short, and I'm a Lab/Pit Bull mix who is 10 years young and looking for a second chance at finding my forever home! The folks at PawsCo scooped me up from a shelter in Mesa County because they saw how much spunk I have! My foster mom says that I'm a lot like Meryl Streep - I may be entering my 'golden years' but I'm only getting better with age! I have a very calm demeanor, but I do love a good game of fetch, a romp in the grass or a short walk on a leash. After playtime, I love a soft spot to ... (Read More)snooze or to nibble on a chewy treat. I haven't had any accidents in my foster house, and I can be left alone without destroying anything. See I told you - better with age! I get along well with other dogs, and I suppose cats are OK, as long as they don't interrupt naptime! I'm not interested in playing with or chasing them, but if they keep their distance, we'll get along just fine. I haven't had much interaction with kiddos just yet, but the PawsCo folks who rescued me had one who rode in the car with us, and that was fine by me! I'm looking for a family or companion who will give me lots of love and playtime followed by long snoozes on a soft bed. In order to be a superstar canine, I could use some extra training. Sure, I walk on a leash nicely and know how to 'sit', but I would love to learn some new tricks to impress my humans and their friends! I like people, but men have to work a little harder to earn my trust. Once I get to know you, I'll be a sweet, loving, easygoing companion! There's a lot of miles left in these paws, so if you're looking for someone like me, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application today! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-19-00301Marcus (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We don't know the reason why a beautiful and very loving dog gets dumped in Houston, TX...but there he was wandering in an area he couldn't have gotten to by himself. Marcus was brought to BARC Animal Shelter.. truly the unimaginable for a young, very frightened dog who had never been exposed to this reality. The thought of this precious 2.5 - 3-year old pup having his life taken at a scary shelter was unbearable to us. We responded to his need immediately and sprang him from his dark prison. He was overjoyed! His personality emerged within moments of freedom..and a bit of hugging and treats. This Poodle/Lhasa mix is an amazing one...we ... (Read More)wish we could clone his calm (considering what he's been through) and super-gentle demeanor. He's a lap-dog extraordaire... and just a love who was able to leave the horrors of his life behind and emerge with the most positive outlook and passion for all humans and respectful canines. Marcus doesn't seem to get upset or disturbed by much...he just takes things as they come and puts his best foot (or paw) forward. It's now time for this great and devoted spirit to settle down with a family who will love and care for him permanently. He would be delighted with an active individual (or couple or family with older children) who would enjoy the outdoors with Marcus...at 14 lbs, he's the perfect size for long walks in the Colorado mountains yet small enough to be scooped up and brought along to any dog-friendly situation. His behavior is SO endearing that he's hard to resist for anyone who has a soft spot for dogs. We envision Marcus in a home that chooses to spend their time with their fuzzy companion. He would be very unhappy if left at home alone for long hours...a few hours are fine but much more than that... he'd miss his people too much. He'd also enjoy the company of another friendly and respectful dog during his alone time. Marcus is a non-shedding Poodle mix (considered to be among the most hypoallergenic of breed mixes) and will therefore require great nutrition and periodic baths/brushing to keep his gorgeous cotton-like coat soft and healthy. Marcus will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-19-00044Rose (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Rose and her sister Dahlia...she could see that their temperaments were so kind and calm that she couldn't allow them to be euthanized. Rose is the kind of very endearing puppy that will lie in your arms and give a periodic loving kiss... couldn't be sweeter. Rose was immediately brought to be vetted and was brought to a great Houston foster home ... (Read More)to receive pure love and begin her education. It turns out that Rose, at only 8 weeks old and 7 lbs (expected to be approximately 15 lbs when full-grown) is very calm and yet so puppy silly that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. Rose's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her and she's incredibly entertaining when she gets going. If Rose continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...she will become a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. Rose is a gorgeous long-haired Doxie mix puppy (although we can't see anything but Doxie, we assume there's a bit of something else in there) with a shining coat that speaks of good health. Her calm demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If Rose is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Rose. We also feel it's very important that Rose is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with walking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-19-00042Francie (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves Beagles and Beagle mixes. We do...especially if they're as sweet and so very loving as Francie. She was acknowledged for having a great personality and being so great to love on and cuddle at an extremely high-kill Texas shelter. This is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 500 dogs on some sad days that have a very high turn-in. Francie, at 2.5 - 3 years old and just about 14 lbs is an exceptionally beautiful Beagle. You can tell when you look into her golden eyes that her short life has held sadness and challenges..but she would never be one to carry that around She's incredibly happy, so ... (Read More)engaging and just a positive spirit to spend your time with. Francie's great energy is contagious...she inevitably brings a smile to all those she encounters. Francie would be an exceptional family member...she loves her humans so much that her body starts to wiggle when they're near and a big hug is in the making. Francie, by her nature is a girl who would love to please...she simply needs to understand what is being asked of her. We think she'd be very successful in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Francie would naturally bond with her family while learning skills that will make her a well-trained member of the community. We feel that Francie will be most successful as the only dog living in her household. She currently is being fostered with 4 other dogs and does very well in her relationship with them. Francie's challenge is only during feeding time when she becomes fearful that her food will be taken from her (it must speak of her experience in the shelter). She also loves her crate (it's become her safe spot) and we wouldn't want Francie to have to share it with another dog living in the home. She will do very well with dogs when she's out and about in the world and doesn't need to worry about sharing her food or treats. Francie loves to play and is overjoyed with the companionship of gentle kids 10+. She will be a long-term best friend who will always be waiting at the door with a wagging tail and a kiss of greeting. Francie will fit in with a family that enjoys hiking along CO trails or similar outdoor adventures. She is more than happy to engage in a walk or energetic play ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel Francie would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives. We feel strongly that leaving her alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive girl. She's so pleasant...and would be just about perfect with the benefit of positive reinforcement group training classes. We would love a family that would give Francie the benefit of this type of socialization. Francie would truly be a gift to anyone searching for a playful and extremely devoted best friend. Francie will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. If interested in this adorable and sweet companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Clyde Labrador Retriever Male 2 years old 100 lbs. Hey you - happy human! It's me, Big Clyde! Want to play?! I got these fresh tennis balls here ... Or we could play some tag, or hide and seek? If you don't want to play right now, how about I just hop up and snuggle with ya on the couch? Clyde likes everyone and everyone likes Clyde! I'm Big Clyde, and I'm a big lug. My foster family compares me to Baby Huey the duck - I'm a whole lotta silly and sweet. Great things come in BIG packages! I love everyone I meet, and by love I mean capital L-O-V-E! Sometimes I get so excited that I forget my manners and can't help but hug and kiss all ... (Read More)these awesome people I meet. I'm a smoocher! I grew up in a family where I always had to ask for affection, so I'm not shy about tellin' you it's time for some ear scratches! I like every person I meet - big or small - but sometimes my size and goofball energy can be a bit overwhelming for the little ones. (I still love 'em though!) I don't know any cats, but they seem like a good time - for chasing! If you have dogs, I want to meet them. I bet we will get along great! It's all love over here! As for training, I'm learning more every day about knowing my size, walking on the leash, and practicing basic tricks to impress the humans. I like my crate alright. Of course, I'd rather be chewing up a toy in the living room, but I know you gotta bring home the kibble, so we can make a plan for that. Speaking of kibble, I prefer my meals family-style; I want my humans around while I eat. It's just nice to feel like a pack. Aw, shucks - there I go again getting all lovey-dovey. What can I say, I'm a LOVER! I'm taking applications for my new forever family! So talk to adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an application on the website, so we can set up a date! (Less)

She has not been around children or large dogs, but her foster mom thinks she would get along well with older children and easy-going large dogs. Talia is currently not motivated by food. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuers in saving Rain...she could see that her temperament was so loving and calm that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized before her life ever really started. Rain was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...she passed both with flying colors and was brought to a great Houston foster home to begin her education around house manners and ... (Read More)socialization. It turns out that Rain, at only 4 months old, is so over-the-top sweet and cooperative that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. She's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Rain continues this regiment of socialization and classes that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with her people...Rain will become a well-adjusted and loyal adult companion. Rain is a gorgeous puppy with a shining coat that speaks of good puppyish health. Her calm demeanor...yet very funny and engaging.. is just who she is. She's seems a bit wiser and more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If you pass her kindness assessment..Rain is your best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding including belly rubs and kisses on the nose. If Rain is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Rain. Since she will be approximately 30 - 35 lbs when full-grown (it's said that her mom is a Standard Schnauzer), we also feel it's very important that Rain is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and snowshoeing in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Rain can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community (she already enjoys it) and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere. Rain will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to her very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs at our vet in regard to Rain's spay, microchip and if there are any additional puppy shots she might require.     There are many, many Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle) lovers in the dog world...it's considered to be one of the most desirable breed mixes. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their cotton-soft, flowing hair and soft and expressive eyes. Henry is a stunning salt and pepper Schnoodle with silvery/golden touches through his silky coat..gorgeous! Once he has a spa day..Henry will be the handsomest Schnoodle around! Henry is about 9 - 12 months old and about 15 lbs and so sweet and ... (Read More)affectionate. He would be a perfect companion for long hikes along the amazing CO trails...such fun for everyone! And at day's end, he loves nothing more than to cuddle against his favorite people and periodically give a loving kiss. Henry seems to have overcome any ill feelings regarding his early life. He was in a very high-kill shelter and had run out of options but his great personality and sweet ways earned him a ticket to a new life in Colorado. It appears that Henry has learned to live in harmony with every kind of being...he was great with every person who greeted him at transport with a hug and a snuggle. He seems to have derived a true calmness and peace from his rescue and the possibilities of a new and forever family. We feel strongly that Henry's family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of obedience training classes. He's so gorgeous both inside and out that he deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for committed retirees or a family with older children as a forever home for Bradley. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. We feel that Henry would be great as on only dog. While he enjoys the company of a playful dog-friend, it's not mandatory for his happiness...it's more the companionship of a truly loving guardian and Henry will return this loyalty and devotion a thousand times over. Henry is a non-shedding guy who has been unkempt for quite a time...but underneath (with great nutrition) is a stunning coat waiting to emerge. He'll require periodic grooming by a calm and loving groomer who appreciates that Henry is just developing the understanding of the experience. Henry is currently being fostered in Denver. We're accepting applications and setting up Meet and Greets for this exceptional and very loving companion. If interested, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Weezy' is a sweet girl who just needs someone to love her. She has been raised with cats, dogs, ferrets and she's good with older kids just not grabby or screamy little ones. She loves being outdoors but is lazy to the bone, only real motivator for her is food so she's not the hiking Pikes Peak type, more of the leisurely porch sitting type. She is trained in the basic commands but pulls constantly on the leash. She is very timid around new people and loud noises which is what makes rehoming her so challenging, but once she warms up she's a great dog.

Meet our new rescue pup, Petunia! She is a Chihuahua mix who is about 6 months old and weighs about 5 pounds. She is a sweetheart and still a young puppy who is in need of training of all sorts: in the house and crate, on the leash and basic commands. Her foster parents are starting with 'Sit' currently. They suggest a puppy training class for Petunia would be fantastic for her social skills and progress. She is food and treat-motivated, and loves to chew on toys, bones and sticks. She accepts treats rather well for her young age. Petunia is an adorable little girl who loves to play, be petted and snuggle! She likes to chew on your hands ... Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Kansas rescuer in saving Travis...she could see that his temperament was so loving and calm that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Travis was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...he passed both with flying colors and was brought to a great Kansas foster home to begin his education around house manners and socialization. It turns out that ... (Read More)Travis, at only 8 weeks old and almost 9 lbs (expected to be about 30+ pounds when full-grown), is so calm and cooperative that it's been a fun & rewarding experience for his foster mom. He loves everyone and is just a snuggle bug! Travis, as a baby, is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Travis continues a regiment of socialization and classes that promote positive relationships with other dogs & bonding with his people...Travis will become a well-adjusted and very devoted companion. Travis is a gorgeous puppy(sorry for an awful photo) with a shining coat that speaks of good puppy health. His calm demeanor is just who he is...he's just more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If you pass his wise assessment of your being kind and respectful...Travis is your very best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding. If Travis is treated with love and given clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Travis. Since he will be approximately 30+ lbs when full-grown (his mom is said to be a Standard Schnauzer), we also feel it's very important that Travis is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and snowshoeing in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Travis can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Travis will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to Travis's neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our vets are used. Travis appears to be a non-shedding guy and will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat cotton-soft and healthy. Travis will arrive on transport on8/18. Pointer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey, you clicked on my picture, and that must mean you like me already! My name is Scout, and I am a 6-year-old Pointer mix. I was rescued from a shelter in Texas, and my current foster Mom describes me as a real lover! The absolute best thing ever, is having my ears and head scratched, so you can do that to me anytime! Here are some other things I LOVE: going for walks, playing with people and other dogs, chasing balls, and I will oh-so-subtly let you know I would like to be petted by leaning against your legs (cute right?). Did I mention I love having my ears and head scratched? I love it a LOT! When my foster Mom wants to take me for a ... (Read More)walk, she says 'let's go for a sniff,' because apparently, the Pointer in me is pretty strong and I like to stop and sniff everything - there is seriously a lot of good smelling to be done out there! I don't mind tooting my own horn a little, I'm pretty good on a leash (please watch out for bunnies, I have a tendency to like them a little too much!), I know how to 'sit' and 'stay,' I don't climb up on the couch, and I am a people-pleaser (I try to be a 'good boy!'). When someone comes to the door, I will bark to let you know. I am super sweet, and would be so very happy in a home with female adults only. I get along well with other dogs, and do well with children, but I have a fear of men, and am a tad insecure. I didn't get the right attention from my previous owners, so I'm hoping my new owner will provide me with the stability, leadership, and routine I need to get feeling more secure. I was so used to my sister being the 'dog in charge,' and she is in another foster home, so I miss her leadership and I'm looking to my current foster mom to be the new leader. If you are a female with a strong, capable, and confident personality, we might be the perfect match! If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today! Boxer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet our new rescue dog, Molly! She was recently busted out of a shelter in Texas where her time was up! Molly is loving being in foster care in Colorado where she can be in a home again. Molly is waiting for her forever home where she can spend her last years being treated like the queen she is! Molly is a nine year old Boxer/Am. Staff. mix who loves adults and kids. She is house trained and knows the commands 'Sit' and 'Down' (lay down). She does great on car rides and is tolerant during bath time, as she simply stands still in the tub. Molly is fun-loving and bounces all around when she's excited! Her foster mom got out some cheese from ... (Read More)the fridge, and Molly started bouncing up and down like crazy! (She must know what that tastes like! Yum!) She is very food-motivated. As soon as silly lady Molly sees a phone camera come out, she rolls over and poses! Molly is sweet, playful and friendly towards humans, and she likes to cuddle too! She is an active, dominant female who would love to be an only-dog, though she has had a male dog-pal in the past. Molly needs slow introductions with submissive males if she is going to be in a home with one. She has felt threatened by a couple of female dogs whom she's met while in foster care. Molly may simply need time to settle-in to her new surroundings though, as she was in the shelter with her previous male dog-companion for a time before the big move she recently experienced. Molly will make a special someone who only wants Molly as their special pet very, very happy! She has quite a bit of energy for her age and acts much younger than she is. Molly would love to experience the Rocky Mountains on a hike or a camping trip for her first time with her new best friend! Could that be you? If you'd like to meet Molly, please fill out the online app today!     Harley is a great dog. We adopted him and have had him since he was a little over three months old. However, he has anxiety that we've not been able to overcome. We took him to training and tried to crate train him (for he chews up the house if he is not crated) and he panics in his crate - sweat, barking, clawing. We do love him, he just has a on of pup energy like we've never seen with our other dogs. He needs a VERY large yard to run in and it needs to be enclosed with a high fence as he can scale anything less than 6 feet. He is great with our other dog, always wants to play and he is adorably cute. He'll make someone a great addition.

Simba is an absolutely adorable and sweet guy who favors the intellect of the Cairn while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Border Terrier. Simba appears to be a non-shedding pup and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy with a golden sheen. As he loses the old hair of his shelter days, Simba's coat will grow in shining and gorgeous. Simba's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Simba is friendly and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Simba's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Simba goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Simba is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breed. At about 8 - 10 months old and just about 9 lbs, Simba seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Simba in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's loves to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Simba would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Simba doesn't require another dog to be happy...but he does enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Simba will arrive on transport in Denver 8/14. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-10-00132Trina-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Westie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Trina was far too sensitive and gentle a girl to be wandering the streets alone. And then into a very scary high-kill shelter..not a place for a very sweet and slightly shy pup. Everyone at Farfel's agreed that we needed to rescue and ultimately transport Trina to a new life in Colorado. This stunning (sorry about the just rescued photo...but a sudsy bath will bring out the gorgeous silkiness of her coat) 9 - 12 month old, 9 lb Westie/Poodle mix (or so the shelter and Texas vets have told us) is just a lovely girl! When she saw our rescuer arriving to scoop her up lovingly from her cage, Trina lit up. She knew, without question, that her ... (Read More)life was about to go through some wonderful changes! Off she went to be fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated, HW tested, etc.. and that all-important temperament testing. We're so delighted that Trina passed her vet exams as well as her temperament testing with flying colors!! The tester was moved by Trina's slightly shy and gentle nature and all the love in her heart that was just waiting to burst forth. As she handed Trina back to us she said, 'go out and get this lovely pup a truly wonderful permanent home. She will make some family the world's greatest companion.' And then she gave Trina a huge kiss (returned by Trina of course). Farfel's is searching for a super-loving and gentle home for this exceptional girl. We'd like either an adult-only or gentle children 12+ family for Trina...she's a gentle soul who would appreciate the quieter and more orderly environment of this kind of home. She would so enjoy the beautiful paths of Colorado - she loves walks and could be a great companion visiting with dog-friendly neighbors as she enjoys her outside time. We would like a family that spends lots of time at home... or loves bringing a wonderful pup with them riding shotgun. Trina is so pleasant and low-maintenance that she's always a pleasure to spend time with. She is great with other dogs as long as they're very gentle and don't expect wild playing. Trina is a non-shedding girl with a cotton-soft coat that will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep it healthy and matt-free. Trina will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/14. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-10-00112Tonka (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What an incredibly intelligent, playful and very loving guy this Jack Russell Terrier is! Tonka was just a night away from euthanasia in a very high-kill Texas shelter when he was rescued by Farfel's at a perfect time in his life...between 9 and 12 months old and a cuddly 11 lbs. Fortunately, Tonka was saved before he developed the sad and fearful characteristics that spoke of the neglect and poverty that was his life. No pup could have a more positive attitude and greater love affair going on with life and any human who is kind to him. Initially he may have a moment of shyness or uncertainty...but then the playful waggle of the tail and ... (Read More)happy smile will reveal his true feelings. He just naturally enjoys his people as well as his relationships with other dogs. And once Tonka understands that his family loves him back...his joy knows no bounds. In typical Jack Russell style, he must let you know the width and depth of his devotion...however he also has the capability to settle down and be the very quiet lap dog that the moment might call for. Since Tonka..when all is said and done.. is all about pleasing, if you just make it clear what you're asking of him, he is so excited to comply. He would truly shine in positive reinforcement obedience classes and would love the challenge of Agility class. This type of organized fun will satisfy the extremely inquisitive nature of Tonka's Terrier breeds and will keep him focused and in unison with his family members. The more positive input Tonka receives in this early part of his life, the more in-sync he'll always be in both his human and canine relationships. And at the end of a busy day, Tonka would love nothing more than to climb into a loving lap. He's a cuddly sweet guy who passes his kindness around. At only 11 lbs, he's a natural to scoop up and take along. He'd be a great car companion and would be so excited to accompany his favorite people on errands, to dog-friendly spots and an occasional vacation would be wonderful! Tonka is a guy who appears to shed very lightly. If he receives periodic baths, brushing and excellent nutrition... this will keep his hair loss at a minimum with a silky-soft coat that shows Tonka's gorgeous markings . Tonka is not recommended for those with severe allergy concerns Tonka will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/14. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-07-00242Asher-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that is dismal, not the most sanitary environment and quickly runs out of space. This is the situation that Asher was put into at 7 weeks old. It's not unusual to see opportunistic breeding with Goldens and Poodles...and if all doesn't go perfectly...out they go into the street or to a high-kill shelter. Such was the case with Asher when it was found that he was allergic to fleas...and fleas in Houston in the summer is an inevitable state of affairs. ... (Read More) We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Asher...she could see that his temperament was so loving and sweet that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Asher was immediately brought to be vetted - he was pronounced a healthy baby who needed a clean home where fleas weren't an issue. He was brought to be fostered...and with love, soothing baths, healthy food and a spotless, insect-free spot..his skin has already started to heal with signs of peach fuzz beginning to grow. Asher will mature just as any healthy puppy and his coat will come back with the lustrous beauty of an adorable black Golden/Poo puppy. Colorado, with it's virtually insect-free environment, is custom made for this sweet guy where he'll never have to deal with flea allergies again. It turns out that Asher, at only 2 months old, is so wonderful and cooperative that it's been a fun & rewarding experience for his foster mom. He's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Asher continues to be properly socialized, he will become a well-adjusted and devoted adult companion. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-behaved guy who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Asher. Since he will be approximately 40 - 45 lbs when full-grown, we also feel it's very important that Asher is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and snowshoeing in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Asher can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Asher will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to Asher's neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require. We can't determine at this point if Asher is a shedding guy. We therefore don't suggest him for a family with severe allergy concerns. Asher will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/15.     Cesar is my green eyed baby whom I bought at 9 weeks old from a private family in Parker. He was raised to be good and around my children. However, he shows signs of aggression to my teenage son to which is why I choose to rehome him. I do have a fully 6ft fenced yard that he has learned to jump from the shed; he can and will jump very high. Cesar would be a great companion for a runner as he is very fast and full of energy.     What a scary world it is out there when you're homeless and in a high-kill shelter...especially when you just weigh 24 lbs and are only about 1 - 1.5 years old. Stormy, an adorable Cairn Terrier/Schnauzer mix (awful shelter photo..will follow up with very cute shots) found himself in this situation through no fault of his own. His plight was the result of irresponsibility and neglect...such a sad statement for the poor care that a was bestowed on this harmless dog. Stormy was the luckiest guy around that day...he was discovered and rescued by Farfel's rescuers who felt compassion for this sweet guy. He was a matted mess on the outside.. ... (Read More)but pure and grateful devotion on the inside! Stormy's rescuer brought him home and dedicated herself to caring for him...and reassuring his abandoned psyche that he was safe. This guy deserved a ticket to Colorado and a committed, loving family. He would so love walks down mountain trails...he loves being outside and is capable of being a companion for hikes. Stormy is definitely searching for a human friend that he can devote his heart to....and that person will be the recipient of 100% of what this little dog has to offer. After initial bonding, Stormy's a steadfast companion that takes his relationships seriously. We're searching for an adult home for Stormy...a retired couple or individual who enjoy spending lots of time with a fuzzy guy would be great! It's not that Stormy dislikes kids..we just feel he'd be more secure in the calmer reliability of an adult home. He also gets along with other dogs and would enjoy the relationship of smaller, gentle canines. He would blossom with the attention and caring touch of a dedicated family. In this environment, Stormy will glow with joy at his incredible luck. He also loves to please...and when he's successful, he struts his stuff with high self-esteem. Stormy appears to be a non-shedding pup and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his awesome, cottony coat healthy and matt-free.     The very first thing that Jada the Standard Schnauzer/Terrier mix wants to make clear is that she's a love! In this sad shelter photo, you're not aware of the sweet presence and the striking golden and chestnut colors that run through Jada's gorgeous coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Jada's non-shedding hair will show its gorgeous colors. Everything is new to Jada...her adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Jada is in your lap or next to you on the couch. She's so happy there because her human relationships are so ... (Read More)important to her. We have to remember that Jada is just a baby...not quite 4 months old and 18 lbs (Jada is anticipated to be about 40 lbs when full grown). She's therefore a blank slate just waiting to be lovingly taught about proper behavior in the home and out in the world. In spite of coming from a very tough and challenging shelter, Jada has the positive attitude and openness of the puppy that she is. Once she knows that all is well, she'll snuggle close with all the love that lives inside of her. Jada lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send her over the moon. Jada is such a sweet people pup... and with the consistency of a committed home, she will grow all the more engaging and confident. We envision Jada with an active retired couple or individual who love spending time with an amazing dog. We can also see Jada with a family with gentle, older kids who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. She would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her favorite people. Being a Standard SchnauzerX, Jada loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation (she's such a smart puppy!). She would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes.. She would love the challenge and is so bright and wanting to please that she would excel. Jada would also be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado trails..enjoying the sunshine, physical activity and time with her people. Jada's nature is to be a very joyful and sometimes silly puppy...so much fun to play with and cuddle at the end of the day. Jada is a combination of 2 non-shedding breeds and appears to be a non-shedding dog as well. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her gorgeous coat healthy, shiny and matt-free. Jada will be arriving on transport in Denver on 8/8.     Lola is a joy... a really wonderful, fun, exciting little show girl who simply needs (wants, insists, demands) to be the 'big dog' of the house. She has been frustrated over the last year or so because she is not the alpha dog in this 3 dog house, and she's relentless at trying to prove her pack leadership, making our other two 70lb dogs' life very uncomfortable. She whispered in our ear one night that she really wants to be with a family where she is the big dog... the head cahoona, the big tough watch dog who runs the house! She loves to cuddle, run, play and really does enjoy other dogs as long as she's the alpha... She said she needs an ... (Read More)identity other than being the runt of the pack... she's tired of being the last one to get a treat. Life is great in her world as long as she's the alpha doggie. Please help us find a good home for this smart little lady with the identity crisis. This is so sad for us... we love her so much. She's a wonderful gal. Many Thanks - Matt (Less)

Maxine Lab/American Bulldog mix Female 1 yr. 60lbs. Meet Maxine Hi there, I'm Maxine! I know we don't know each other very well, but if you don't mind I'd love to give you a big ol' kiss! I'm a sweet, 1-year-old, 60 lb. Lab/American Bulldog mix, and while some people are 'huggers, I am definitely a kisser! I was found roaming around by myself in southern Colorado and taken to the shelter. The shelter was very scary for me, but lucky for me, the folks at PawsCo busted me out, and I'm currently happy as can be in my foster home. Sure, my frame is 60 lbs. of solid muscle, but the truth is, I'm as gentle as can be! I love playing with ... (Read More)other dogs! I'm usually pretty submissive at first, but once we get to playing, I love to jump and roll around with my furry friends! Playing is great, but I also enjoy just relaxing in my dog bed with my humans nearby. Speaking of humans- Oh how I love them! I like to follow my foster parents around and plop my head in their laps when they sit down. (Believe me, if I could fit my whole self in their laps, I would!) Living in a house is amazing, but not something I'm entirely familiar with. I've been following the lead of my canine foster siblings and learning the ropes, and I'm working on the potty-training thing and spending time in my crate. (My foster parents are confident that once I get the potty training down, I would be just fine with free roam of the house, too.) I am going to be one devoted, adoring (not to mention beautiful) dog for my forever family, and I know the PawsCo folks will find just the place I'm meant to be! If you think I'm meant to be with you, then fill out an application on the PawsCo website today! (Less)

Animal ID: 394Bell Anne (female)

Doberman Pinscher Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Name: Bella Anne (a.k.a. Bella) Breed: Doberman/Shepherd mix Gender: Female Age: 1.5 years old Weight: 50 lbs. Meet Bella Anne! Hi! Hi! Hi! How are you today? What are you up to? Wanna play?! Oh wait, maybe I should introduce myself first'| My name is Bella! You'll have to excuse my excitement. I am just ecstatic about life! So let's get my basic info out of the way so we can get to know each other: I'm about 1.5 years old, I have short black and tan fur, I'm a Doberman/Shepherd mix, and - most importantly - I am looking for my furever home! Now on to the fun stuff! I absolutely LOVE to play! I'm super active and love being outside ... (Read More)(perfect for Colorado), especially when there are tons of toys for me to play with. Oh and I'm not at all picky about my toys. I'm entertained by pretty much anything, so I might need a little help distinguishing what's OK to play with and what's not. Don't worry though; I'm a really fast learner. I already know how to sit. If a treat is involved, you can probably teach me anything! As long as I'm moving, I'm grooving! I get pretty excited when I'm on my leash - obviously, walks are SUPER fun! - so I might need a little training in that area. I like when my foster mom brings her dog on walks with me. I just follow his lead and I do just fine! I haven't had the chance to meet any 'kids' or 'cats', but I'm pretty sure I'd do well with older kids who would like to play with me. However, my energetic personality might be a little much for cats. Strangely, I actually like my crate too! I sleep in there at night, spend the day in it while the humans are at 'work', and I'll even go in there on my own to chew my toys or take a nap. I know where to go to the bathroom, as well, and I don't mind using it one bit because that just means I get to go outside again! Even though I am quite the looker, right now I have some skin growths on my face - they're not contagious or harmful, and I'm getting them treated as we speak so hopefully they will be gone soon! Now that you know a little about me, if I sound the loving, active lady that you've been missing in your life, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application on the PawsCo website today! CAN WE GO PLAY NOW?! Hehe. (Less)

Welsh Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Alex the Welsh TerrierX wants to make clear is that he's a love. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden and chestnut colors that run through his gorgeous coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Alex's coat will show its gorgeous colors. Everything is new to Alex...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Alex is in your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Alex comes from a very tough and ... (Read More)challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Alex is initially a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close. This 9 - 12 month old, 12 or so lb Welsh Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Alex has never had an accident inside..quite an accomplishment for a rescue pup! Alex is such a people dog...he loves kids of all ages but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Alex with an active retired couple or individual or a family with older kids who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Terrier, Alex loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes and agility class. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please, he would excel. He would also be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Alex can have a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. His nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over. Alex is a non-shedding dog and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, shiny and matt-free. Alex is currently being fostered in Denver. If interested in this exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Duke is an 8 month old neutered male lab-shepherd mix that was rescued off of an Indian reservation in North Dakota. He is very affectionate, but it takes him a little while to warm up to people since he has never been a pet before. Duke is not aggressive at all, but is pretty shy around men. Because of this, we think he would do best with female humans! Duke would prefer a home with another dog (but not it's not imperative) and someone who has the time and patience to continue his socialization without new people coming and going all the time. Duke gets along WONDERFULLY with other dogs! He also does really well with cats and other ... (Read More)animals. He loves going on walks, bike rides, hitting up the dog park, hiking, and especially getting brushed!! Duke is by far the BEST running partner you could ask for! He is house/crate trained, but he does not need to be crated when left alone! He's such a good boy! He is not hyper, but can become very playful when you want him to! Duke is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, heart worm negative and he is also microchipped! Our adoption process begins with you meeting Duke. Feel free to schedule a play date with him and your existing pets. After you fill out an application, we will verify your references and do a brief home inspection. If all goes well, we will deliver Duke to you for a small adoption fee. You will also have the option to purchase a large wire collapsible kennel for an additional fee. We then ask that you sign our adoption contract. We will do a follow-up visit approximately two weeks to one month after the adoption to insure that Duke is adjusting well to his new home and that he is happy and healthy. We feel our adoption process is the best way to vet good owners and to guard against people seeking dogs for dog fighting, bait dogs, and/or dog sales. We only have our rescue dogs' best interests in mind and we do everything we can to insure that they go to the very best home and that it's the perfect fit. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tiko came to our home a few months ago because we completely fell in love with him at the humane society. He immediately bonded with our small dog and kids. He is friendly, relaxed in his nature and is content running around the yard and interacting with the family. He has always been an outdoor dog and isn't even interested in going indoors in a hail storm. He'd rather stare up at the sky with his mouth open! Tiko is very smart and really enjoys playing 'tag' or exploring for treats. He loves going on hikes and is getting very good at walking on leash (we use a 'Gentle Leader' with him). He has been to the dog park a couple times and ... (Read More)has been aggressive toward another alpha male dog once. We are looking for a new home for Tiko. He needs a home where he can be a solid companion and have a contained yard and lots of play. We did 6 weeks of training and he is getting to be very good on-leash. He does not come well when called once he gets off-leash (especially when there are chickens around). He has killed our neighbors chickens and despite our best efforts, with kids and lots of visitors I fear there will be another day in his lifetime when the gate gets left open... Unfortunately we can't risk this with our current neighborhood. He's a very fun dog, my husband puts a harness on him and has him tow him on his skateboard through the hills... and he is very sweet. Rehoming fee $300. (what the humane society charged us for him) but negotiable to good home. Good health, up to date on shots, approx. 2 1/2 years old. Let me know if you'd like to come meet him! American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there, I'm a new kid on the block, you can call me Ozzy! I am a handsome 3 year old American Bulldog mix, self-admittedly good with other dogs and cats, and love every person I meet regardless of age, size, or gender. I am a serious snuggler - if I could sit on your lap all the time, I would (can I, please?). I have a little bit of separation anxiety, but that's just because I love people so much. My new foster Mom got me a thundershirt, and it really helps with my separation anxiety, I totally love it. I'm even liking my crate more now! I only bark when I am left alone, but I bet my cool new thundershirt will help with that too. I'm good ... (Read More)on a leash, and don't mind playing with some rawhide bones now and then. My favorite treat is freeze-dried liver, and I will take it gently from your hand. I seem to trip over my own four feet a lot, and my foster Mom just thinks that is so adorable. OH, I almost forgot, I know some tricks!!! I can do: sit, down, come, place, and I'm working on stay. It's pretty impressive. I have something called 'cherry eye' and I'm having corrective surgery soon, so I will be in tip-top shape for adoption. If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today! Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am an avid volunteer at Aspen Animal Shelter. I have been walking Sam for about 2 years. She hasn't had any luck getting adopted. I checked with the shelter director Seth Sachson and he said it would be okay if I sent her information to Boston Terrier websites. She isn't a hiker which people in this area are looking for. She is so loving, lots of kisses and if we sit down together she will climb right on my lap. She also loves rolling in the grass. The shelter takes great care of her but I would be so thrilled to find her a forever home where she can share her love and cuddle. I would be happy to help with relocation expenses ... (Read More)if there is someone that would be great parents to such a special dog that has stolen my heart. Below is the description that is posted on Aspen Animal Shelter's website. 'Sam is a strong, energetic, black-and white-colored, 7-year-old Boston Terrier mix with a Pit Bull which makes her larger than the average Boston Terrier. Outgoing and super friendly with everyone--adults and kids. She is a real cutie and seems very smart as she learns new commands quickly. She might be best as an only pet She is not great with other dogs.' When we walk on a leash I don't approach other dogs. She's only barked maybe 3 times at another dog as we have walk these years. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oh...the joy that is bursting forth from Cooper in every way. He's free (and so excited) from a very scary high-kill shelter that ran out of space for this sweet guy. Farfel's was contacted because it just wasn't a possibility that Cooper was truly going to face his death. This gorgeous (sorry about the before photo...we'll update to show the beauty of this Poodle mix) guy is now safely in a foster home in Texas working on his home skills and going here and there with his foster mom to further socialize this engaging (while initially shy) pup. Farfel's came forth to provide Cooper with a new life that would be safe and respectful...and of ... (Read More)course super-loving! Cooper... an approximately 2 year old and 15 lb Lhasa/poo...has the softest cottony coat ever..you just want to pet him endlessly. Cooper is exploring his foster home in Texas with curiosity mixed with a smile that never leaves his adorable face. He gets happier with each day that he's free from his previous situation and celebrates in his own devoted and sweet manner. When he's comfortable...he's a comedian that keeps all who meet him smiling and filled with love for his adorable antics. In the end, however, his favorite spot is a lap where this devoted companion can cuddle up and show his calm devotion. Cooper appears to like other dogs and enjoy their company (unless they jump on his head) but doesn't require them in his life to be happy...it's all about his people! We think he'd be great with retirees or a family with older kids who is present and chooses to include Cooper in their daily activities. He's well-behaved and learning all the time to be a dedicated and loving companion who can be taken along no matter what adventure his family is up to. Cooper is a non-shedding pup and will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat healthy and matt-free. Cooper will be transported to Denver on 8/1.     From Craigslist))))Rehoming my adorable lazy chipoo, she just had a litter about 10 weeks ago and have decided to keep one of the pups, which means we sadly have to get rid of pixie. She's a lovable dog, all she does is lay around and cuddle, she's slightly skittish around new people, but I promise that all you have to do is hold her and pet her for a minute and she'll love you. She's absolutely the most cuddly dog I've ever saw and thank gosh she doesn't shed at all, she's to use doggy pads, and has been an indoor dog since we've had her.     Hi, my name is Phoebe, and I am a female Shepherd/Chow mix. My foster Mom says I am a blast, and she marvels at my playfulness. As you can see in my videos, I LOVE to play in the water! I like to dive and put my head right in the water while playing. Apparently I have medium energy, and I overheard my foster mom saying I have the cutest floppy front feet. I can sometimes be a little persistent when I want to play with other dogs, even if the other dogs are not so inclined to rough house as much as I do. I'm learning commands such as: down, sit, stay and wait. I'm also learning to walk well on a leash. I learn quickly and desire to please! I ...     Seeking a loving and patient home for 3 year old male lab mix. Sam is a very sweet dog, loves playing at the dog park and long sniff-n-stroll walks. He is calm indoors but definitely loves his walks. He doesn't chew or bark but is a digger. He loves belly rubs and can be quite the 'talker'. He does have some anxiety issues and is easily startled. However, he has never acted out when startled, just gets jumpy and needs a lot of reassurance. He is very afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks and would really like to have a place to hide, again he does not act out, just wants to get into a snug corner or under a table. He does not do well ... (Read More)off-leash and can be a little obsessed with squirrels and rabbits! He does fine with my cat, he's very curious and keeps trying to approach her quietly but understands that when she hisses he needs to back off. He is currently an only dog but would probably do well with a buddy. I do not have children but we've encountered kids at the park and he seems to like them. He knows basic obedience commands (sit, heel, leave it, come), but can be somewhat stubborn about doing them. Sam needs a kind-hearted person/people who have some experience with dogs and can give him lots of love, attention, and patience. He does fine in an apartment with very regular exercise but would love a yard. I want to find the very best home for this sweetheart and will request a reference from your vet and to do a home visit.     George is a very sweat boy. I have paperwork stating he is full blood maltese but he weighs 22 lbs so I know he has other in him. I believe Bichon. He has never had a problem with any person and actually scares me sometimes that he would go with anyone if they spoke nicely to him. He had never had an issue with any dogs unless they initiate it. He is is very friendly with dogs and the only real problem I have ever had is a neighbors yorkie that has attached him, even then he did not seem to know how to defend himself and he has never instigated it. Although he has had yearly teeth cleaning's he has very bad teeth and has lost ... (Read More)several but it does not keep him from eating dry food and many other treats. He also has been diagnosed as hypothyroid and has to take synthroid twice a day which I put in his food or a treat. The cost is only $20.00 for a 3 month supply. I have to move in to take care of a family member who is ill and they are not allowed to have pets. I do not have any family or friends who are able to take him. It breaks my heart because he is a very good boy but I have no choice. He is used to me working from home so he would do well with a like situation or with someone who is retired and can be there with him. Or another dog in the home. He does have separation anxiety and will howl if he is feeling lonely. I will post pictures soon (Less)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Cash was his gorgeous eyes in the dim shelter light. She stared at Cash for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this gorgeous King Charles Cavalier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter matts & filth is an exceptional white Cavalier mix with hints of apricot in his cottony hair. Cash immediately made it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Cash was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in ... (Read More)our rescuer's lap. He was shy and a bit frightened but was so happy for the hug and sense of safety. This 8-month old, 9 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Cash wants to be a people dog...with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love...he will be overjoyed that he's finally found his forever family. We are searching for an adult-only home or a home with older kids 12+ for this very kind pup. It's not that Cash doesn't like young children.. but he can become overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud voices - therefore a family with very young kids will not be considered. We envision Cash with a retired couple or individual who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's quiet and mellow enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would even happier happy to go for a long walk on mountain trails or neighborhood paths....just as long as he's with his person. He would also be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace....he would be well behaved and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer) He can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) has become one of our most requested mixed breeds. We all seem to love the combination of the outgoing nature and fun personality of the Schnauzer combined with the smart and intuitive nature of the Poodle. Scooter appears to be a perfect combo of these 2 popular breeds. Scooter's gorgeous charcoal black coat lights up his adorable face. The fuzzy spot of pure white on his chest gives Scooter both an adorable as well as regal look. Scooter is obviously very special...he was chosen from hundreds of dogs currently in the Kansas shelter system. It was all about his temperament...it bought him his ticket to ... (Read More)freedom in Colorado. At just about 9 - 12 months old and 11 lbs, Scooter shines with an engaging and incredibly sweet disposition. He is an active guy (but not overbearing) who would love nothing more than a hike or a neighborhood stroll with his family. He really enjoys gentle, respectful kids and would be an active participant in outdoor games in the yard or a walk to the park. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and would always enjoy a game or a shared walk. Somewhere along the line, we think that Scooter was given love and respect..probably because he's so capable of returning warmth and kindness. Scooter is great to take along anywhere there are groups of dog-loving people. He's a bit shy but always warms up with sweetness and warm hugs. We feel that Scooter would do well in any home that offered him love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this social and sensitive guy), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and positive reinforcement training to make him the best dog he can possibly be. Scooter appears to be a non-shedding guy and therefore requires great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his very shiny coat healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Scooter gets neutered prior to his transport to Denver. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's would be happy to cover this cost upon his arrival in Colorado. Scooter will arrive on transport in Colorado on 7/25/14. If interested in this awesome guy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.     Dolly Chihuahua mix Female 3 years 10 lbs. Meet Dolly Helloooo Dolly! (Oh wait, I'm Dolly- But I caught your attention, didn't I?!) I am a darling, 3-year-old Chihuahua mix, who's content just to snooze in the sun while nibbling on a pint-sized bone. It really it is the little things that make life sweet! (And life is sooo much sweeter now that I've got a foster home to relax in while I wait for my forever family!) I enjoy the company of my humans and won't say no to a good cuddle session. Despite my tiny stature, I do well with other dogs of all sizes and even cats- well, I mostly just ignore cats, but I have a healthy respect for ... (Read More)them. A home with adults would suit me best, as I'm easily startled, but I'm hoping my forever family can work with me to help me feel more comfortable and confident in my new home. I know our bond will be even stronger as we work together to build trust and security! The love you'll receive in return will be the kind of innocent, pure love that only a dog can give. My manners are quite impeccable, and I'm potty-trained and crate trained. I'm learning some commands, too and look forward to learning even more in my new home! I'm so grateful for the folks at PawsCo, who've taken me in, and I want nothing more than to be someone's dearest companion. Life is always better with a friend by your side, and I can't wait to meet my best friend! Italian Greyhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

My name is Goose and I am a sweet, smart, playful ~one year old female Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix that was rescued from the streets of Texas (twice!). My mom's living situation has changed and she wants what is best for me'|I need a place to run, a loving and patient family with no other dogs (or dogs that are trained off-leash), and a lot of attention. I have some special needs that have been documented so you know how best to take care of me. I am a little 'barkie' but my mom has been working with me on that. I love to snuggle up under the covers and am willing to do anything for a treat!

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-20-00054Biscuit (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Biscuit would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loyal and loving lap dog. At just about 9-12 months old and about 17 lbs, Biscuit is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and wonderful dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very adorable...end up in precarious situations. Biscuit was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind TX rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have?? This little dog is just so awesome ... (Read More)with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. Biscuit, as a very young guy, is a very active blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement obedience classes, Biscuit can have great behaved and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! Biscuit may be a bit shy initially as transport and rehoming is challenging for a puppy...but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision Biscuit with a retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Biscuit is a needy or whiny guy...not at all...he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. Biscuit likes children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to kids 12+ who can be gentle and understanding that Biscuit is a small pup and needs soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Biscuit would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people. Biscuit is a non-shedding (or maybe a hair or 2 - we can't quite tell) guy and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat cotton-soft and matt-free. Biscuit isn't suggested for those with very severe allergy concerns. Biscuit will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and loving family companion. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-19-00581Harry-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Havanese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves the Havanese breed. It is actually a breed designed by humans%BD'%BD|a combination of a Maltese, Bichon and a 3rd breed originating in Cuba. This combination of breeds has proven over and over again to be great companions and wonderful family pets. Harry the Havanese, through absolutely no fault of his own, but rather some awful stroke of bad luck, ended up in a very high-kill Texas shelter. The facility is terribly overcrowded with the adoption rate far too low%BD'%BD|therefore the euthanasia rate is extremely high. Harry was rescued at the very last second by great Texas rescuers combined with a ... (Read More)commitment by Farfel's Rescue. Harry, at 18 - 24 months old and just about 21 lbs is an exceptionally adorable Havanese! More important than Harry's great looks is his joy in simply being alive and being noticed.. He couldn't be happier or possess more positive energy than when he left the shelter. Harry would be an exceptional family member (just a bit shy initially) for active retirees who want to commit to a sweet and playful fellow. We don't feel Harry should be placed in a household with young children simply because he hasn't had exposure to the high energy and loud voices of young kids. We feel his happiness would lie with a more predictable family where he could count on them being there for him%BD'%BD|.and he for them. He would find so much joy with a loving and responsible family%BD'%BD|so much so that you can count on his body to start to wiggle and wag when they're near. Harry would be overjoyed with people that enjoy hiking or similar outdoor adventures. He is more than happy to engage in a walk or play %BD'%BD|his tail wags with joy at being included. Harry is such a pleasure to be with as he approaches the world with self-confidence and love. He would truly be a gift to any family searching for a playful and extremely devoted guy. Harry is a non-shedder and therefore will require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Harry will be transported to Denver in late 7/25.     Beautiful, loving, pitbull. Great with all people. He's bonded with an 8-year-old Male English shepherd, but he takes a long time to acclimate to other dogs, and is otherwise dog aggressive. Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Booker looked out from his dark cage on the death row aisle of a dismal Texas shelter - his eyes were bright and revealed a soft plea that begged for release from his prison. Farfel's TX rescuer couldn't help herself and quietly unlatched the lock and scooped Booker into her arms. She still speaks of the moment...Booker snuggled into her and stared into the face of his savior. There was no question that he was thanking her with his entire soul. Booker trotted joyfully from the shelter and jumped without hesitation into the car..and sighed deeply. He was finally safe! He was brought for the typical exams and vetting....he had a perfect ... (Read More)physical! He is now happily up to date on his vaccinations. In an effort to find a perfectly wonderful home for this exceptional companion, we have determined (with Booker's foster's help) our goals in his match. Booker is a 9 months to 1 year old, 16 lb guy who is so sweet and devoted...we envision him with loving and committed retirees or a dog-crazy family with children 12+. He would be overjoyed to cuddle on the couch and just simply relish his happiness at finally having a family. What a great companion to come along on family activities (perhaps a day in the park?) He's so happy to be included...his foster has enjoyed him riding shotgun as he kept her company on her errands around town. He would be very appropriate to take along on walks along beautiful Colorado trails (although Booker doesn't require huge amounts of exercise) or a visit with dog-loving friends...this would serve him in furthering his socialization education. In return, he will bestow tons of love and devotion on his people...it's just waiting inside of this adorable guy to give with all his heart. Booker gets along very well with dogs of similar size who are respectful and kind. He's never been around very active, rambunctious dogs and we think we should keep it that way. Booker is a very lightly shedding guy who will require periodic sudsy baths and brushing to keep his coat as shed-free as possible and SO silky-soft . Booker will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/27. We are currently accepting applications for this wonderful and devoted companion. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-18-00034Angus (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Angus is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wiggle. Once he gets a sudsy bath and grooming...he'll absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. At 6-8 months old and about 11 lbs (anticipated to weigh about 15 lbs when full-grown) Angus is every bit the puppy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who is not yappy or unnecessarily vocal - he expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses. At this early point in Angus's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Angus to a ... (Read More)family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Angus to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Angus is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. We'd also like Angus to be with gentle older children (13+ would be great) or with an active adult family who will include him in their activities. Angus is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Angus is so young that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Angus's new family has to have the motivation and energy for a young pup...he requires house training, behavioral guidance and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about the world. Angus will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver -the Kansas shelter considered him too young. We don't... and will cover all costs to neuter and microchip Angus very shortly after his arrival in Colorado. Angus is a non-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic grooming to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Angus will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

All of the Farfel's Rescue employees and volunteers hi-fived each other when we got the news that Sadie the Standard Schnauzer/Shepherd puppy was safe! We had been on edge all day waiting for the word that this adorable and very sweet girl was out of the shelter and truly rescued. The part that was so sad is that Sadie, at only 11 weeks old, was about to be euthanized simply because the high-kill shelter had run out of cages. Sadie is a virtually perfect puppy and at barely 3 months old and 14 lbs (Sadie is expected to weigh about 45 - 50 lbs when full-grown) she deserves a great forever home that will give her an awesome start in life. ... (Read More)Sadie is a sweet and engaging puppy who loves other dogs and every human she's ever encountered. We would love Sadie's great temperament to be nurtured with loving yet clear guidelines through puppy socialization classes and Positive Reinforcement Obedience group class. She responds so well to boundaries that are clear and lovingly communicated. Sadie is a healthy and active young puppy who would be head over heels with joy to hike a Colorado trail and spend fun, outdoor time with her favorite people and canines. Sadie is a blank slate at this point.... just waiting to be taught appropriate behavior to be the greatest adult dog ever! She has the capability to truly shine if given huge amounts of love and recognition for great behavior. We are searching for a family that is motivated to spend the time necessary to housebreak and train this young pup with the amazing temperament....they will be rewarded a thousand times over with loyalty and devotion. We think Sadie would be very happy with either an active and involved retired couple (or individual) or a family that enjoys spending lots of quality time with their pup. She's great in the car and very excited to learn the socialization skills that will enable her to accompany her family virtually everywhere they go. Sadie appears to have picked up the Schnauzer gene and be a non-shedding pup...we'll really have to wait and see her adult coat. Sadie will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat shiny and healthy. She is not suggested for those with extremely severe allergy concerns. Sadie will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and exceptional family companion. (Less)

Hi my name is Rex Money. I have a sweet name because I am one cool dude. I traveled from the Bahamas to Denver about a week ago so I could find a home that's as cool as I am, I am a big guy who would do best around older kids, however I am quite the catch. Not only am I amazingly handsome, but I am friendly, house-trained, dog friendly, walks well on a leash, medium energy (not crazy). I never have met a stranger and if you want to meet me I won't shy away. Please fill out an application at www.coloradoanimalwelfare.org

have a beautiful brindle mix dog I can longer have. She is a great dog that is full of love but unfortunately her and my other dog have started getting in fights and my other dog came first. I rescued her up in summit county about 7 or 8 months ago. This dog has to go to the right home, no other dogs and I dont know how she would do around kids. Would prefer someone who has owned pits before and you must live in a city that does not have a pitbull ban. She loves to run, a big fenced in back yard is a must. Im asking for a re homing fee of $100, its exactly what I paid to get her. I will include her collar, leash, food dish and her dog bed. ... (Read More)Her name is Magnolia or Noli for short. (Less)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Logan is a very sweet, loyal, fun, smart, and loving dog. I rescued him 4 years ago when he was 9 months old, after what appeared to be a rough upbringing for him. When I first got him, he wasn't housebroken and was afraid of most people (including me), but he has come a a long way since. Over the four years, he has received tons of professional training to work on his behavior, so now he does well on a leash, is housebroken, and is much more calm than he used to be. However, he still has issues with some strangers and young children. I recently married someone with young children, which isn't a good environment for him, which is why I am ... (Read More)looking for a home for him. If I can find the right home for him, I will pay for a series of training sessions from a professional trainer for the new owner, a month's supply of his favorite food, training collars, a crate (he does well in a crate when need be), treats, a comfortable muzzle for use around strangers, and plenty of toys to keep him busy. I love him dearly and would love to keep him, but since I can't, I will do just about anything to find him a home that is willing to love him, be loved by him, and keep him safe. Please call or email if you are interested in learning more about him, seeing more photos, or meeting him. He really is a great dog and could be a perfect fit for the right situation. (Less)
