Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Howdy y'all, I'm Chip. I recently moved from Eastern Colorado with my brother Carter. We used to be your typical country boys, spending our days lounging around the cornfield, but now I'm here in the Mile High city ready to meet my forever family and take advantage of everything Colorado has to offer. When I'm not working on fitting in with my fellow Coloradans, you can find me in a game of tug-and-war with my brother Carter or curling up with him in our kennel. I love getting out and exploring my new state and meeting new people-humans big and small, and canines too. I do just fine with felines too! As much as I've enjoyed my leasure ... (Read More)time, I've also been hitting the books. So far I have mastered sit, using the bathroom in the appropriate place, and coming when my name is called. Pretty impressive, huh? I want to make sure I'm in tip-top shape when I meet my forever family. Which brings me to an important point: I'm currently looking for a family who can love me forever. If you want double the fun, I would LOVE to be adopted with my brother Carter. You interested? Email my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application here https://pawsco.org/adoptions/adoption-application/ to learn more about having me, Chip, join your family! Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00017Alfie (male)

Maltese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Alfie's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate NM rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Alfie was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Alfie's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Alfie, at about 18 months ... (Read More)old and 14 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. Alfie is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Alfie in a family with dog-crazy and respectful, older kids. Active retirees would also be great... they must enjoy spending their time with a comical and very loving and loyal best friend. Alfie will be a very family-oriented puppy if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home with family members would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-sized canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Alfie than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Alfie can be counted on to be a positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance pup whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament testing and vetting with flying colors, Alfie is with his foster in New Mexico being taught some basic house skills. She has described him as incredibly smart..and a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? She did also say that Alfie may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy, playful and very loving self. Alfie is desperately in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing'|. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight his gorgeous golden markings that speak of his breed mix. Alfie will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Alfie is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a dog like Alfie often falls through the cracks in this very poor area with too many dogs and not enough vets to neuter/spay them. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Alfie to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Alfie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Sunday 9/24/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-20-00678Patsy (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Patsy. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Patsy's foster knows it's morning when her little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a big kiss and a wag. This curious and really, really smart 4 - 4.5 year old (such a perfect age..old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind and young enough to have many, many healthy years ahead) and 22 lb... such a great size - perfect for walks, playtime and just right to take everywhere a sweet pup is welcome. Patsy is a truly great ... (Read More)companion. There aren't many visible signs that she was in a very scary situation. She's sometimes shy and can hold back..but a warm hug and reassuring words..and Patsy bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer. We picture Patsy as the best friend to active retirees. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Patsy would be the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Patsy is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks to socialize with neighbors..and mental stimulation that comes from time spent with her humans will keep Patsy happy and fulfilled. Patsy would also enjoy time with gentle, dog-loving kids. She's an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Patsy derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog who deserves this in her life. It also appears (after some research on our part) that Pugs and Pug mixes are wonderful. They tend to be so cute, on the mellow side and the most devoted of companions. If you combine that with the energy and inquisitive nature of all Pugs and Puggles... you end up with a humorous, fun and loyal family member. Patsy won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Patsy's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Patsy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Sunday 9/24/17. We're currently accepting applications for this very sweet and loving dog. If interested in this cuddly and very loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Dexter and Diesel, unfortunately it's time to find them a new home. We don't want to give them to just anyone and are trying to avoid them going to our local humane society. I know the owner of Graceland Animal Sanctuary here in Grand Junction. She has put information out trying to help us rehome them but no luck yet. She referred us to your organization with the hope they'd be a good fit. They have become more and more destructive. They have escaped about 20 times--chewing thru our 6 foot wood fence many times. We have replaced multiple boards, fixed holes, put up sheep wire and installed an electric fence. We are super ... (Read More)fortunate for understanding neighbors who haven't called the cops. Now they are chewing the door frames and panels of the garage door. I know they aren't getting what they need now with our crazy schedules. I'd like to keep them together--they have been together 7 years and are very attached! Besides the destructive behavior, they have super sweet personalities. Dexter is hyper, loves to play and never puts his ball down. Diesel is laid back but loves to chase Dex. We have 3 boys and they have always been good with them and their friends. They are okay with other dogs once they warm up but will chase cats. Diesel is chipped and both up to date on vaccines. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-18-00192Clover (female)

Papillon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet and engaging Papillon or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household (perfect size for low maintenance) and make excellent, very loyal companions for all age groups as well as other dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Clover is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a ... (Read More)great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Clover is such a great age and size... at approximately 4 - 4.5 years old (such a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 15 lbs (great size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and well-behaved small dog is welcome). Clover is lucky enough to have inherited the superior intelligence, curiosity and fun-loving nature of both the Terrier and Papillon breeds. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Clover is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer and given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion and lap dog extraordinaire. Clover has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please. We'd like to place Clover in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Clover would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful like-sized canine...she would love the playtime and companionship. Clover will love the trails and paths of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy long walks through the mountains or socializing on neighborhood paths). Window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Clover will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. Clover has the softest hair you can imagine. That being the case, she will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Clover be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Clover's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Clover will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/27/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving and devoted best friend.. and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Obese

Lucy's caregiver is now in a nursing home; she can't go with her. Lucy is overweight mainly because her caregiver was sedentary, so Lucy didn't get much exercise. She is also on thyroid medications and cosequin. She has difficulty walking and we don't know if that's from being overweight or if she's arthritic. Lucy prefers the company of adults. She was with a couple of other dogs over the years, but would need to be socialized again with other dogs as it's been over a year since she's had others around her. She's generally a sweet dog once she's adjusted to new surroundings and makes a great guard dog.

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dillon is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with his stunning chestnut coat with a chest of fluffy hair. Once Dillon gets a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing, he will absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. He appears to be a non-shedding or lightly shedding guy and will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/grooming and an excellent diet to promote a healthy, shining coat. At 9 - 12 months old and 15 lbs, Dillon is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet ... (Read More)smaller dog is welcome. He would love the interaction since Dillon is a very happy and social guy. And at day's end, he would love nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch to quietly enjoy his time with his family. Dillon is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a gentle, well-behaved pup. At this early point in Dillon's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Dillon to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Dillon to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area) to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Dillon is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Dillon becomes so loyal once comfortable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Dillon is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Dillon may not be neutered when he arrives on transport in Denver -this area of Texas has far too many dogs and not enough vets to fix these pups before they leave the area. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs to neuter and microchip Dillon at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado. Dillon is arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/27/17. Applications are being accepted for our sweet pup. Animal ID: JW COBODIE-JJ (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

PLEASE NOTE: THIS DOG IS IN COLORADO, BUT DUE TO COLORADO RESCUE RESTRICTIONS HE CANNOT BE ADOPTED IN COLORADO, MUST BE OUT OF STATE. TRANSPORT OPTIONS TO ADJOINING STATES POSSIBLE, CAN BE DISCUSSED. JCLDR is our RESCUE based out of Montana but we work all over the nation and in Canada. OWNER SURRENDER: Owners input below. ( Bpdie was adopted by the owners at 4 months old . He weighs 60 pounds. Bodi) is a highly intelligent, curious dog who needs daily vigorous exercise, mental stimulation, and affection. As long as he gets enough of those things, he does great being left alone in the house for up to 8 hours when necessary (usually 5-6 ... (Read More)hours is the norm). In the 3 years we've had him, I can count the times that he has chewed or destroyed something on 1 hand. He has never scratched doors, gotten into the trash, or chewed up shoes - amazing! Bodi also does well in the car and on road trips. He's great about staying in the back of my station wagon, even when left alone in the car (when weather appropriate of course!) Although he is a very spunky and energetic dog, he's actually quite mellow at home, as long as he gets his morning exercise (30 min running or 45-60 min walking) and two or three 10-15 minute neighborhood walks during the day. Since we live in a townhouse, Bodi has never gotten to experience the gift of having a yard. He will be in absolute heaven if someone with a yard adopts him (but Catahoulas want to with their people so we do not sanction them becoming yard dogs who are left unsupervised for long periods.. they get lonesome and bored and they find a way to get your attention. Bodi is friendly to everyone we allow into our home, although he jumps up a lot on visitors, (this can be worked with. we are behavior Specialists and give unlimited help) especially those who aren't 'dog people'. He has been great with all of Alex's friends, but I would be cautious around small children and babies. He could be easily overwhelmed. Probably no to small tots. He has a few dog friends that we hike with and he does great with them. But he is selective and can be reactive with certain types of dogs, especially those that exhibit fear and aggression simultaneously. The biggest challenge with Bodi is his leash reactivity and the hyper-vigilance that he exhibits near our house and around the neighborhood. He has been very leash-reactive when walking with my husband or me, but is much less reactive when my son walks Bodi. And when we are not on his neighborhood 'turf' he is much more relaxed. However, due to Bodi's personality and physical strength, we are extremely careful about allowing him to interact with other dogs or people when we're out on walks. I believe that this issue could be resolved if Bodi had a stronger 'leader' that had more time and motivation to work with him on breaking his focus and redirecting his attention. I have worked with him quite a bit on this but have fallen short on consistency and have not put in the time required to correct this issue. Janeen can do what most trainers and behaviorists cannot and gives unlimited help successfully. She will work you through any issues. I have recently separated from my husband and am not able to care for Bodi in the ways that he needs in order to be happy and thrive. I work full time and am away from home 8-10 hours a day. Although we have a dog walker that helps out in the middle of the day, Bodi is a dog that needs an owner/ leader that has more time to play and actively work with him. This has been a long and difficult decision for me and my son. Bodi is an amazing dog, and I'm praying that the right person or family will find him and experience the love, affection and joy that he has given to us. (ADMIN NOTES) Long distance adoptions can be highly successful. We will screen for commitment. There is more in a longer bio about Bodie and an adopter will be speaking with owner and Janeen. This is a good boy.. he just needs the right home with real leadership, not a boss or trainer. Once we get your app we will give you more info on Bodie. He is worth checking out. PLEASE PUT IN AN ADOPT APPLICATION FIRST if interested.. no one is obligated but it helps us get acquainted. Then we speak by phone. 406-323-3519 and it is ok to phone at any time regarding details of a long distance adoption. (Less)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Nalie Staffordshire Terrier/American Bulldog mix Female 5 years old 70 lbs. Are you looking for a new bestie? If so, I'm your girl! I just love being with 'my person' and offer so much love and companionship. I also enjoy ear scratches and belly rubs from my main squeeze but I'm also great at just hanging by your feet, playing with my toys and taking wonderful naps. I'm always up for new adventures and enjoy going on walks, runs, hikes - anything that gets me outside in the fresh Colorado air. I'd prefer to be in a home where I'm the only pet, as I haven't totally gotten the hang of making new dog friends. I don't have much experience ... (Read More)with kids, but I like people, and they're just small people, right? Once I'm settled into a new home, you'll see my goofy side come out. I'm playful and love toys but also appreciate lazy afternoons. My foster says I'm a polite houseguest and am content hanging out in my crate. I promise that once you meet me, you'll see what a special pup I am. Email my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application to learn more about me! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-13-00499Autumn (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Autumn is a 5 month old small Husky mix that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Autumn has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound'|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all'|Autumn doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Autumn is so young, she's a blank slate'|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Autumn and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Autumn be a companion that is ... (Read More)well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Autumn tends to be a loving and sensitive girl who loves life and responds so well to nurturing and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Autumn gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people for belly rubs and soft touches. Autumn loves to come along ..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a hike on a Colorado trail, a vacation or just socializing'|Autumn would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere We envision Autumn in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation. Autumn wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone'|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Autumn would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Autumn will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this very poor area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Autumn's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Autumn will be arriving on transport on Sunday 9/16/17. If interested in this very sweet girl who is truly a best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It breaks my heart to write this post, but I'm traveling for a year and will not be in a situation suitable for my sweet dog Harley for at least a year, so I'm in search of a new home for her. Harley that has the wisdom of an old dog and the energy and health of a young one. She's great with all people, babies, and puppies. I do not recommend that's she's in a home with cats and if you have another dog we would need to have an introduction to see how they get along. She loooooves going for walks, and will happily accompany you for runs up to 10 miles long. She hasn't had a single health issue in the seven years that I've had her. At the ... (Read More)same time she's fine left alone in the house if you work all day like I do, and will be happily awaiting your return with a slipper. You'll love having her in your family as she's got more personality than any dog I've ever met and will likely try to join in your conversations with funny noises (hence the name Harley). If you or someone you know is looking for a companion, watchdog, running/walking buddy, and free sloppy kisses then send me a message and I'll find a time for you to meet her :) (Less)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Emerson. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Emerson's rescuer knows it's morning when Emerson's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a huge kiss of love. This curious and really, really smart 7 month old, approximately 20 lb mix (anticipated to be full grown at about 28 - 32 lbs..such a great size - perfect for long walks and neighborhood socializing) and just right to take everywhere a sweet pup is welcome. Emerson is a truly great companion. There aren't many ... (Read More)visible signs that she was in a very scary high-kill shelter. While she's initially a bit shy and can hold back in certain situations... a warm hug and reassuring words..and Em bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer. We picture Emerson as a best friend to either active retirees or a younger family with older, dog-loving kids. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Emerson would be one of the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Emerson is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's never pushy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks or more challenging hikes to socialize with others..and mental stimulation that comes from her time with her humans is important to this sweet girl to keep her happy and well-behaved. it's not that she requires extensive amounts of anything, just enough to keep her healthy and stimulated. Emerson would also enjoy time with very gentle and a bit older, dog-loving kids. She's such an easy-going pup..but we wouldn't want her tail being pulled or anything but the gentlest of handling. Emerson derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in an active family that just loves her dearly...she's a great dog who deserves this in her life. Terriers are the favorites of so many dog-loving people. They're super-smart and very social little beings. They are also known to be very loyal...their family is always the love of their life and they show you their loyalty each day in so many ways. Emerson appears to be a non-shedder (or very light shedder)...although we'll know for sure once her sad shelter hair grows out. We'l see the beauty of Em's scruffy Terrier coat after the benefits of healthy food and clean conditions set in. Emerson will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her stunning cinnamon coat (that seems to have a mind of its own) healthy and matt-free. Emerson is in foster care in the Denver area. If interested in this sweet and very loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

However, Maggie needs spsce to run and play and we are not able to take her to parks etc. She is constantly getting out due to this need. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-11-00209Alex-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that blue-eyed Alex the Wheaten Terrier/Cairn Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the striking golden and beige colors that run through his gorgeous non-shedding or lightly shedding coat (difficult to tell at this point due to sad shelter hair) - with a commitment to periodic grooming, tender loving care and great nutrition, Alex's coat will be much less likely to shed, healthy and matt-free. . Everything is new to Alex...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then, before you know it, ... (Read More)Alex is on your lap or cuddling close to his favorite people. Alex is so happy beside his family because his relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Alex comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Alex is initially a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close and show his very engaging ways and sweet temperament. This 2 - 2.5 year old, 23 lb Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Alex loves to spread his sweetness around. He is such a people dog...he loves kids but they definitely must be a bit older and very gentle to handle him kindly and with respect. We can also envision Alex with an active retired couple or individual.. or a younger family who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people and canine friends. Being a Terrier, Alex loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes as well as agility class. Alex would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please, he would excel. Alex would be overjoyed to hike along Colorado paths and trails..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Alex can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned. Alex's nature is to be very joyful and positive.. and in just a moment, his silly and fun-loving personality takes over. While we've requested that Alex be neutered/microchipped prior to his arrival in Denver, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all charges for Alex if our Denver vet is used. Alex will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 9/12/17. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-11-00162Ratio and Angel (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Time to introduce 'Ratio and Angel, the bonded pair of love-bugs looking for a home together. They're approximately 9years old, spayed/neutered and UTD on vaccines. They are the snuggliest, sweetest pair you'd ever want. Don't let their age fool you, they're quite active, LOVE going for long walks and are both very agile (they both jump up my 2' retaining wall like it's nothing) They have many, many years of happy and healthy life ahead of them. They'd love a yard of their own to run around in, but would also be good with apartment life. They're rather quiet, only barking when they want to chase my cats (which I have to keep them separate ... (Read More)from - my cats don't appreciate doggies that don't know kitties are the rulers of the house). They're good with my smaller dogs, but are hesitant around my big ones. 'Ratio is super protective over Angel and wont let any of my guys around her. If she's not around, he's very social and will play with my dogs, running around and being goofy. He loves her so much that he'll take a mouth full of food to her and drop it on the bed so she doesn't even have to get out of bed to eat. She has a pretty severe parrot mouth (overbite) but it doesn't seem to affect her at all, so I wouldn't worry about it. No special diet or dental care so far. In fact, I think it's one of the cutest things - she looks like a little mouse. He is getting over a yeast infection on his belly and arm pits, and I'll send him home with some of the herbal wash that I've been using. They are with a private foster located in Elizabeth, CO. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-11-00029Chloe-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are very loving, engaging and intelligent. They also fit well into a family...and make great companions and the ultimate lap or couch dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Chloe is just about 4 - 4.5 years old (such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous, yet old enough to understand her adult skills) and should weigh between 28 and 30 lbs. Sadly, in her previous life, Chloe was ... (Read More)fed unlimited food from the trash (her guardian didn't love her enough to consider Chloe's welfare) and gained 8 lbs. Now that Chloe will be loved and cared about...it's time for that weight to come off. Farfel's will provide premium kibble with specific instructions on a diet plan for sweet Chloe. Before you know it, with love and and patience, Chloe will be back to her gorgeous and shapely self. Chloe's great Kansas rescuer sent the following report about sweet Chloe: I was the lucky one that fostered Chloe before her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a sweet cuddle bug! Chloe has become my hiking partner (she's a natural for Colorado) and we're having so much fun together. She loves the trails and has the energy and enthusiasm to be a great hiking companion. Once she gets back to her healthy weight, Chloe will be a world class trail girl. I have 2 other dogs that occasionally come as well and she does great with them. After an afternoon of hiking, Chloe love nothing more than to curl up on the couch for cuddle time and a snooze. She's a wonderful and loyal companion who truly loves her people & canine friends. She'll be a gift to a family who will love her back with all their hearts. Chloe has inherited the intelligence and very loyal and loving ways of the Terrier. She also has a touch of Spaniel in her makeup..this gives her a natural curiosity with a sweetness that knows no end. If Chloe is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will blossom into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful, loving companion. Chloe has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. I know that Farfel's would like to place Chloe in a home with either active, dog-crazy retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a very sweet and devoted family member. Chloe would love window-shopping downtown to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Chloe will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return. . Chloe has a beautiful, non-shedding or lightly shedding coat (it's difficult to tell with certainty until her sad shelter coat grows out). With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Chloe will grow in the cottony-soft, shining hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat. Chloe will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 9/12/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.     I've had Bruno since he was 9 weeks old. He has a super loving personality, but does need some training. He turned two years old on 24 June 2017. It breaks my heart to find him another home, however, I am active duty military and am gone way too much. Additionally, when I am home I work long days and its hard being a single dad owner. Bruno has separation anxiety and loves to be around people. He would do best with a family that has someone at home majority of the time. He would also do great being the only dog. Cavalier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're unwanted and at risk of euthanasia by their family. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Arri...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Arri's rescuer...after which this adorable baby was brought to transport on his way to safety in Boulder . It turns out that Arri, at only 7 weeks old and 3 lbs (expected to be approximately 10 - ... (Read More)12 lbs when full-grown) is very calm and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuer. Arri is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If he continues this regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Arri will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Arri is a gorgeous Cavalier/Toy Fox Terrier mix puppy (this was only a guess by the vet) with a shining, cottony-soft coat that speaks of good health. Arri's sweet and cuddly demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more snuggly and mellow than your average crazy puppy. If Arri is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. A family that loves Arii like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this silly, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that he is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Arri will be overjoyed when his future holds walks along Colorado paths enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with dog-loving neighbors will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this adorable puppy. We'd love a family for Arri that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Arri can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere with the assurance that he'll be a loving and social guy. Arril will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our Denver vet is used. Arri will require a commitment to periodic grooming. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great!) will keep this puppy's coat healthy and silky-soft. Arri will be arriving in Boulder on Saturday 9/9/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and devoted best friend (and amazing lap dog).     The very first thing that Joey the Fox Terrier/Corgi mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the silky and shining black coat with a whitest of white cottony chest. It is with grooming, care and great nutrition that Joey's coat will continue to blossom with good health. (Read More)12 - 18 month old, 10 - 12 lb Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels likes he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Joey is working on mastering his house skills. Joey's foster mom has the following to say about this very sweet guy: Joey is doing great. He's still a young guy who just needs patience and love.. and he blossoms. I sit with him and we talk about what a wonderful pup he is and what a great future he has to look forward to...I'm not kidding that I think he understands! Just a tiny bit shy initially (but he should be after what he's been through)...and then the sweetest love! Joey is so kind and cuddly... belly rubs and treats also are a gift to this dog who has never had this kind of nurturing. Joey really enjoys (and even loves) my 2 dogs and they all have the greatest time playing in my yard. Joey is very respectful of them. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of his respect and gentle nature - when they tell him they have had enough play time, Joey backs off and keeps himself busy in a positive way. You would also expect a young Terrier mix to be a bit crazy with lots of energy..this isn't the case with Joey. He has exactly the right amount of energy. He's so responsive..if he jumps on me, I just have to say no and he responds. He also learns a general command in about 2 minutes..no kidding. It must be about the natural intelligence (and inherent great personalities) of these Terrier-type dogs. I actually think Joey is somewhat calm for a young guy. He loves to play (once comfortable), run and beginnings of fetch...but then loves to cuddle equally. His temperament is really developing! I just have to walk into the room and glance at him...it's head to toe waggy tail and huge smile. He is such a sweet pup - anyone who welcomes Joey into their home is truly getting a gem of a dog! Joey's SUMMARY - Joey is such a people dog. He enjoys quiet kids of all ages (no tail-pulling please) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Joey with active retirees or a family with a bit older kids who want a beautiful and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his family. Being a Terrier mix, Joey loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please..he would excel. Joey would also be overjoyed to walk or hike along Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. His nature, while it can be initially a bit shy, quickly becomes very joyful and his silly and fun nature takes over. This guy's a gift of love for a kind and committed family! We've requested that Joey be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. In fulfilling our commitment to zero population growth, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for spaying and a microchip for Joey if our Denver vet is used. Joey will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/9/17. But with it all%BD'%BD|Chai doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Chai is so young, she's somewhat of a blank slate%BD'%BD|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Chai and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Chai be a companion that is well-behaved (she's pretty close right now!) in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Chai tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Chai gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and soft touches. Chai loves to come along (and is very portable at 10 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a walk on a Colorado path or just socializing%BD'%BD|Chai would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Chai as an only-dog or with a gentle, like-sized companion. She'd be ecstatic to get all the attention for the first time in her life..or would enjoy sharing with a great playmate. Chai wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone%BD'%BD|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Chai would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's always loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Chai appears to be a lightly shedding girl. With a commitment to periodic bathing/brushing and great nutrition, Chai will have a low-maintenance, cottony-soft and shining coat that will tend to be more shed-free. We've requested that Chai be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Chai's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Chai will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/9/17. If interested in this very sweet girl who is a very loving and loyal companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-06-00590Dahlia (female)

Lhasa Apso Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix is an extremely smart and loyal family dog with that additional teddy-bear flair. Of utmost importance...Lhasa/Poodle mixes are famous for their great personalities and extremely loving and snuggly ways. This mix is also known to love being a part of a family...so great with their beloved people and other family pets. And since they require a certain amount of exercise (like all dogs) and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! Dahlia would truly enjoy cruising the neighborhood paths and trails...and then crashing on the couch snuggling close to her favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Dahlia is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl (so sorry about her sad shelter photo. We've requested a new one to show how truly beautiful this sweet girl is) Dahlia is a non-shedding pup and will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement) to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. As she loses the old hair of her shelter days, Dahlia's coat will grow in cottony-soft and very shiny. Dahlia's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Dahlia is social (perhaps initially just a bit shy).. and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Dahlia's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Dahlia goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Dahlia is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of both the Lhasa Apso and Poodle breeds. At about 10 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left behind puppyish behaviors and young enough to have many active years left) and 15 lbs, seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. Dahlia has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Dahlia in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very pleasant and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Dahlia would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Dahlia doesn't necessarily require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Dahlia appears to have had some challenges with her eyes for quite a while. Her vision isn't very good and she will therefore require drops in her eyes twice a day. This doesn't seem to bother her in the least (always a very happy and grateful girl). She doesn't know that her vision is limited...she gets around really well and fully participates in life. The responsibility for her guardian is to purchase her eye drops (not very expensive) and to be responsible for putting them in twice each day while wiping her eyes with an eye wipe or a damp cloth. This is not a difficult task and will be made even easier by the desire to help Dahlia...she is the most lovable and sweet best friend anyone who has ever met her can imagine! Dahlia is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in this snuggly and very loving and loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Our sweet and beautiful Pippin couldn't be more of a love bug no matter how hard she tried. Pippin is a 9 - 12 month old and 8 lb Schnauzer/Yorkshire Terrier mix (such a great size to be a take-along girl) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Terrier mixes have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding) coats and sweet and loyal personalities. Farfel's Rescue speaks up for almost every Terrier mix that is in need of our help with confidence they will have great personalities and be loyal and ... (Read More)loving family members. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Pippin as an only-dog..or together with a like-sized, very gentle dog in a home that will provide her with tons of love, exercise and mental stimulation.     Sweet dog! I have been her human for 9 years and she loves to cuddle and sleep. She does not like other dogs, and our new neighborhood has LOTS of dogs. This has left her feeling nervous and unhappy. I love her so much, and hate to loose her, but she isn't happy in our new house.

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-31-00198Gracie-PENDING! (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Terrier mixes are always a favorite among the many groups of mixed breed dogs. We all seem to love their fun, outgoing personalities and snuggly natures. Gracie appears to be a perfect combo within the Terrier breeds..with a touch of Poodle in there for good measure. Her beautiful coat (cottony soft and non-shedding) lights up her adorable face. Gracie's dark eyes are so expressive that you understand the pain she had been through earlier on, while seeing her current optimism and love of life. Gracie is obviously very special...18 months ago, she was found living in a bombed out building in Tijuana, Mexico. A compassionate rescuer ... (Read More)found Gracie and instantly fell in love..she brought her into her home to heal and to ready her for her forever life in the US. At just about 2.5 - 3 years old and 12 lbs (the perfect size for accompanying her family everywhere a sweet, smaller dog is welcome), Gracie shines with a very sweet disposition. She is an engaging girl whose tail never stops wagging...yet calms down easily (particularly after a long walk or serious playtime) and can just hang out on the couch with the best of them. Gracie is described by her foster as: sweet, very loving, often calm yet very playful and active. She was excellent with her rescuer and her family. Gracie enjoys gentle, dog-crazy older kids and would be an active participant in outdoor games in the yard or a walk to the park...followed by some serious couch or lap time. Gracie would also be a great match for retirees. She would be overjoyed with time-spent and would bask in their love and attention. We feel that Gracie would do well in any home that offered her tons of love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this sensitive girl), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and socialization in the community.. She's a take-along kind of girl who will blossom when accompanying her family out and about in the world. Gracie has a stunning coat that has grown progressively more beautiful since her rescue. It's soft as cotton and with great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement) and periodic grooming, it will always be healthy and matt free. Gracie's foster mom sent us this report on our sweet girl -- This incredibly beautiful (with a capital B) lovebug has been such a sweetie. I've completely enjoyed Gracie being my number 1 lap-girl and backyard pal. She's excellent with people... she likes to be next to me after we take our morning walk - just to chill. Gracie loves being outside and is very good on leash. Around the house, Gracie is very respectful and completely house-trained..just a low-maintenance sort of girl. While Gracie is great with dogs at the dog park and with my family's dogs, she's a bit too dominant with my submissive 8 pounder. For that reason, I would suggest that Gracie be a one and only. She would bask in her family's attention, be completely loyal..and fall deeply in love with them. Gracie desperately wants to be a family girl where she feels safe and secure that her homeless days are over. Gracie is being fostered in the Denver area. If interested in this very loving and loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Hi! My name is Zena Keller. I am 6 months old, maybe a dachshund/sheltie/collie mix. You can call me anything sweet as you would like when I'm yours. I was born deaf, but I overly compensate with this awesome soft manageable cuddle fur. The kind of fur that when I sit by your side all you will want to do is pet me. I am learning hand signals and as a puppy I got the no-no finger wave pretty much down. I know the hand lead to go outside. And the stay as I'm not allowed in the kitchen, and I have to sit in my bed during my humans dinner time. I would say the flashlight is a good learning tool, but I love to chase it first. I know all about the ... (Read More)dog door to paradise; now I need to make it part of my potty training. I like walks and my foster dad tethered me to my fur brother so I can learn how to follow safely. I have to learn this more. I really like cats and kids. I would love a home that will accept my little barks at things I can't hear, so I can protect you, my puppy random acts of frapping, and a few accidents that I don't mean to do. I love to look at you silly while you are talking cause you look funny. I will need a home with some understanding and patience for a deaf puppy. My sight my also be slightly impaired but it doesn't slow me down. WDCR requires n application, home and reference check and a meet and greet with current pets and/or children in the home. Please complete an adoption application at https://form.jotform.us/72074690104148 if interested in adopting Zena. She is being fostered in Lakewood, CO. (Less)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Hi Colorado Peoples! My Name is Dannah! I made friends with the Sunshine Rescue after they told me I was on death row. In true Texas fashion, my doggie slammer was something called 'high kill,' same as the people slammer. I was real thankful when the rescue lady said I could hitch a ride to Colorful 'Rado! I'm a pretty Great Dane mixed in a Lab. Or maybe she said I'm a Great Dane/Lab mix? Either way, I'm looking for a forever place with lots of room for me to grow up! I love my doggie friends and peoples are the best! I've never met kitties but I think I could understand them as much as any dog can. I think I might be four moons old, or four ... (Read More)months in people time, but no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer on that. I'm excited to find forever peoples who have the patience to help me grow up to be the good girl I've always wanted to be! I probably need to go to school, and I'll need a place where the peoples can pay attentions to me and give me all the lovies. If that sounds like a fit for you, I'd love to meet & exchange stories about this eclipse thing. Email Sunshine ppls asap at Sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com. (Less)

Hi der, I'm Nori. I was rescued from rural Texas with my two brothers. Just in time too, we were malnourished, covered in fleas and had lots of wormies (ew!) Sadly, my youngest brother didn't make it. I promised him I'd make it to the Sunshine place, find a loving family and live the best life ever for him and all the other Texan puppers who aren't as fortunate as me. I'm a sweetheart through and through. I just want to be loved, cuddled & praised. I can be timid but sweet talk me enough and I'm yours. Now that I trust my foster mom, I show off my derpy side. She tells me all the best pups have one. I would love to go to puppy school ... (Read More)and socialization classes. I'm good with dogs & have mastered the surprise pounce. I also like kitties & kids (big and lil). Won't you give me a chance to be your bff? Email sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com if you will! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-29-00378Rory (male)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rory was rescued from a high kill shelter and TX and has been looking for his forever family for about 6 months now. His amazing foster parent's have put together this incredibly thoughtful 'owner's manual'. Rory has been tossed around and we want this next home to be 100% to committed to all that he is! We are waiving his adoption fee so long as that $395 is put towards training. Rory is an amazing dog who deserves a wonderful home! We hope you'll take the time to read about him. Rory is an active and energetic dog looking for a forever home with owners to match. He is great with other dogs and plays nice with strangers and kids. He's even ... (Read More)fine allowing other dogs to eat before and in front of him prior to receiving his portion of dinner. He does not growl or snarl when sharing close proximity with other dogs and his belongings (such as food or toys). Rory loves to chase and to wrestle with other dogs. He likes to play rough by wrestling and barking but is never aggressive when he does (this has not always been the case as you'll read). He needs lots of exercise which typically looks like going to the dog park every other day with 2-3 walks a day. In my case I take him for a long walk in the morning and then an hour or so at the dog park in the evening when working from home. When I'm unable to make it to the dog park I'll take him on three walks or play ball in the backyard for 10-15 minutes. This seems to satisfy his exercise needs. After a 30-minute walk in the morning Rory will lay around next to me all day while I work at my desk at home. He of course appreciates a raw hid bone to keep him entertained every once in a while. Behavior: The Bad The biggest issue we have seen occurs during transition. Two of the three households experienced this problem and unfortunately I feel that we failed Rory in not preparing his new owners with the tools to assess and correct this bad behavior. (I personally believe that there were other issues with the homes more than just Rory's behavior which eventually led to failure that I will talk about in more detail below). When Rory is frustrated and full of energy he will charge you and jump on you. Using his mouth to agitate or direct you to do what he wants you to do. This behavior is sometimes also seen during walks. This is really the biggest issue. Other issues are small and include things like chasing cats/skunks and not listening to verbal instructions when stimulated by this or other animals. Behavior: The Good Rory has so many good qualities and I don't mean for this letter to over emphasize the bad. I simply want to be clear where he needs improvement because his lovability is already apparent upon first meeting him. As stated above Rory plays well with other dogs, kids and always welcomes strangers to the house with a wagging tail. Rory absolutely fails as a 'guard dog' but is an amazing cuddler, companion and playmate. Rory does well at outside restaurants especially if he has a bowl of water and a bone to chew on. I often times will bring a cylindrical bone and peanut butter so that I can continually keep him engaged with his food so I can enjoy mine and my company. I typically will take him to the patio of Illegal Pete's or a local brewery but only after he's gotten his exercise for the day. That's a key point. Taking him to a public space and then putting a leash on him and telling him to be still is not a good idea unless he has been exercised. Otherwise he'll bark and bite the leash and attempt to escape. Make sure he's been well exercised and he'll behave in public. Again, a bone or peanut butter are great to have too. There is more to this letter but Rescue me has a limit on how much you can put in a profile. Please email us at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com if you're interested in learning more about Rory! (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you have any questions about fostering or adopting Tess aka Sadie please contact 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue and Boarding directly at and adopt@4p4l.org. This girl is a lovable 8 month old lab mix. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and has gone through puppy training, level 1 and 2. We are still working on her basic commands such as sit, down, stay, leave it, and come. She is doing really good and with a bit more practice she will be a well trained dog. She is great with kids and most other dogs. She is pretty nervous around new people and when meeting new people (especially men) but will warm up quickly once she gets to know someone. She loves ... (Read More)to play, she loves her chew toys, and loves playing with the water from the hose, chasing her tail, and she loves to tear up napkins and paper towels if you let her get them:). She has lived kids since she was 2 months old. She is create trained and easily goes in her cage at night or when you are leaving during the day (she does want a treat for going in though;)). She is potty trained and also knows how to use a doggie door. She still has her puppy tendencies and need a home that is willing to be patient while she is still in her puppy phase. I think she will be an excellent partner for hiking, camping, running, really any outdoor activities. She does need a house with a back yard because she is to large to be cooped up in an apartment. She is also micro-chipped and I have all of her paperwork and vaccination records. DOG IS COMING TO 1st EVENT (All dogs are available for online adoption now. Pug Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Otis is the pup you want to have around! Otis, at just about 18 months old and 20 lbs, is just naturally a lover ....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Coby is a truly beautiful Pug mixed with a Beagle (a Puggle!) with all the traits that make these very smart, incredibly cute and personality-plus dogs one of the most popular breed mixes around. Otis enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere she goes...it's so important to Otis to be a true best friend! He loves ... (Read More)his people more than anything (and his foster definitely loves him!) and he would absolutely win great lap-dog of the year award. Otis loves to cuddle close on the couch with his beautiful head draped over his favorite person's leg...an occasional kiss from this very sweet guy is inevitable. Otis is a young, healthy dog who will love his family with all his heart. He also would enjoy another kind and gentle dog to play with... and then would love nothing more than to lie in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day. Otis would have so much fun exploring and taking long walks along the Colorado trails. He is always open to new activities...just say the word and up he jumps for a hike, a car ride or just some fun in the yard. Otis's rescuer had the following to brag about this sweet Pug mix: Otis is a stunning Pug/Beagle mix (the always -sweet Puggle is one of the most loving and personality plus breed mixes around. With a beautiful face and the prettiest eyes ever, Otis is a very eye-catching guy. He's 18 - 24 months old, weighs 20 lbs (perfect size..small enough to take along almost anywhere and large enough for a great hike along Colorado trails) and just blossoms and gets more engaging every single day. Otis is an extremely affectionate and loving dog! I would love to see him in a home with a family (older, dog-crazy kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling) or active retirees who have the time (maybe a positive reinforcement group class?) and love for a very loyal and kind dog. I'd hate to see Otis left alone all day while his family works full-time. I think he's too sensitive for that. He's such an amazing dog and just the right size and temperament to accompany his family on all their fun adventures. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Otis in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A continuing group training class promotes great behavior and confidence for a young pup just learning about the world. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We're requested that Otis be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Otis's neuter and microchip if our Denver area vet is used. Otis will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/2/17. If interested in this sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)
