Hello, I have had my dog over ten years, six years ago I moved into a condo complex in Elk Grove in 2006. I knew the CC&Rs were 50lb limit on dogs--but my dog was borderline on the weight issue, and I thought they would overlook the 5 lb overage. It has been over looked for the last six years until now. Regretfully, I have to find a home for her now. Recently I got a 'courtesy letter' from the management company for the association saying someone had complained about my dog's weight being over the CC&R limit of 50lbs. I took her (my dog) to the vet today, and they told me for liabilitiy issues they couldn't sign something saying she was ... Our home is already established, we have 2 dogs, 2 daughters and our routine. We love her, but only took her in to find her a new home, not to keep her. Kind of to give her a good place to live for a while where she can be loved before she goes on to her forever home. After getting her home, she fit right in. She is amazing and gets along with our dogs and daughters just fine. The first night was hard, since she was used to a doggy door she had an accident at night. From this we resolved that when we leave the house, she had to be put in the bathroom, to see how she was when she was left alone. She had accidents in the bathroom as well. When we potty trained our larger dogs, we kennel trained them and it worked wonderfully. So we know she had too much room and free time. We have been using our large dog kennel for her when we leave the house now and closing our bedroom door at night, and she has not had an accident. She listens very well, she knows 'no' and 'sit', but needs to learn to lay down and stay. They are very easy things to teach a dog, and with how much she listens now it really shouldn't be hard to get her to do. She just needs a stable house and routine, and she will be amazing. She does cower, so it seems as though she was hit before. Although she has no aggressive tendencies. She will submit (roll on her back) if she feels your mad at her or knows she didn't listen - she is extremely docile. When we're eating, she will come over cautiously, and if you say 'no, bella', she will go lay down almost instantly. She loves cuddling, slept in our bed last night and buried herself under the covers. She does go on the couch, but if you have a comfy pillow on the floor she will chose to lay there instead. If your on the couch, she wants to lay next to you. She loves to give kisses, and really is very calm for a terrier, but goes with the flow. If you play, she'll play. If you sit down, she'll come cuddle, if you sleep, she'll sleep.. etc. She is amazing with children, loves our 6 year old and our 2 month old daughters. She is great with other dogs and joins our Boxer and Gorden Setter mix in play even though they are 3 times her size. It is honestly really hard to think of any negatives with her, she tries so hard to make you happy and we barely even notice another dog in our house. The one main thing I do have to say with her though is that she is a runner. If you open the front door, and do not tell her to stay or keep her away from it, she will dart out. Molly is a pretty, 5 year old Shar Pei mix. We rescued her over 4 years ago, along with 2 other dogs, which she does not get along with. We have tried crating Molly, rotated the dogs so they're not together, but now we have a baby and things have become urgent. Molly must be an only pet. She's a good girl most of the time. She's lazy and is not into exercise. If you, or anyone you know, is looking for a good companion...give Molly a chance, please.
